“You researched for months?” Zoe asked curiously, letting out a small laugh. “I only found out about the supernatural in general during the last full moon..” she said, scratching the back of her neck awkwardly. “Mum’s always have the best taste, I’ll give them that,” she said with a smile. “My Dad honestly wanted to legitimately call me Peach because he thought it was funny, but he settled for Zoe and uses it as a nickname instead,” she laughed.

“Yeah, I inherited my powers from my mom, but she died when I was little, so I didn’t find out until I found her old diaries. It’s pretty complicated, but...once I heard that this place existed, I knew I had to move.” Celeste laughed. “People could call you Princess Peach and make Mario jokes all the time,” she said, joking.

“Rum and Coke” she said as she placed the glass in front of the girl before pouring her own for her good measure. “Thanks, i’ll defiantly need this after the day i had” she mumbled as she took a sip as she gave the girl a look, and raised her eyebrows. “Are you knew here? Haven’t seen you around here before and you defiantly don’t smell like a wolf”

Celeste nodded to the bartender, smiling. “No problem. You look like you’ve had a rough one.” Celeste sipped her drink, relishing in its cold temperature. “Yeah - I’ve here about a week, and I’m definitely not a wolf. At least I hope not, because I don’t think I can take any more surprises,” she joked. “I’m Celeste, and I’m a witch.”

“- No, your vehicle isn’t ready yet. By the looks of it, maybe you should pay more attention to the road.”

Celeste smirked as the mechanic spewed sass at his customer. Overall, it seemed the people she was meeting were pretty cool. She waited in line until the customer left, then stepped up. “Hey! I’m sorry to bother you in the middle of your busy day, but do you do oil changes? I was driving by, and mine’s due for one - I’m new to the area so I don’t even know if this is the right place for those sorts of little things.”

“Would it be wrong of me to tell you to fake it until you make it? I mean, that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 600 years and I’m still around despite the fact that I am one of the most clueless vampires I have ever met.”

“Whoooaaa, you’re six-hundred?” Celeste’s jaw dropped in awe. “Well, that makes me seem like an infant. I bet you know tons of things.” She was fascinated by this new information. “I was hoping I could maybe find another witch to...I don’t know, coach me, or something. I bet there’s not an education center just sitting around.”

“My deepest apologies– I feel like I’ve just invaded all of your privacy. I just figured since you brought up something about weather manipulation that you would want to speak freely.” Hoping to lighten the mood and change the subject quickly, she blurted out, “Well, a completely mundane fact about me is that I have a bad habit of biting my nails.”

“Oh, no, I’m fine with speaking freely, I just...I’m not totally sure what I can do, yet. I know that I can sense thoughts and emotions, but I don’t know if that’s where it stops or if I can do other things.” Celeste shrugged. “No invasion of privacy, I just don’t have a lot to tell right now. I should probably work on that.” She laughed. “Coincidentally, so do I!”

Sophia had just been passing by when she heard the commotion and she turned just in time to see the garbage bag come tumbling down from the pile onto the other young woman. Turning she hurried towards her. “Are you alright?” Sophia asked out of concern.

Celeste rubbed her head in frustration as she stared down at the trash that was now scattered at her feet. “Yeah, yeah - I’m fine. Little head head bump - not a big deal. But I can’t believe I made this huge mess.”

Noise had caught his attention, gaze turning towards the scene across the street just as the bag hit the ground and broke open. Changing his path he crossed the street, heading towards the mess that had spilled across the floor at the dumpster. “Need some help with that?” There didn’t seem to be anyone else around that could help her, and the two together would be faster than her cleaning it up on her own. “Might still be possible to shove it all back into a bigger back to get it in the dumpster.”

“Oh god, thank you - this is so embarrassing,” Celeste said as the man walked up. “I don’t think I’ve got any more of that size- even if I did, I obviously can’t reach it.” She ran a hand through her hair and sighed. She’d used the bulk of her trash bags transporting her large canvas sets so they wouldn’t get dirty.

In Hollow Grove, he expected an array of things that wouldn’t catch him off guard. Nevertheless having a seen a woman struggling, he rushes over. “Are you alright?” The vampire says examining her before glancing to the ground, “We can get this cleaned up in no time.” Vince says offering a slight smile.

“I’m okay,” she said, thankful for the sincere concern the man exhibited. “Nothing hurt but my pride. And my trash bag.” Celeste nodded towards the ground. “They really should make these things more short-person friendly,” she commented.

“Celeste! Ah, you must be one of the magic do-ers, I presume?” Gesturing out her hand for a shake, she smiled widely. “I’m Rory– I’m one of the kind that doesn’t really get along with the sun.”

“Um, yes, that’s me. I’m not very good, though. I’ve only known for about six months,” Celeste said shyly. She took Rory’s hand and shook it politely. “Oh - so that’s a real thing?” She questioned, eyeing Rory’s skin up and down. “Sorry- I’ve not met many people here, yet..Not quite up to speed on the workings of...everything.”

Hearing a woman shout had Axel paused. His head screamed at him to keep walking, that it wasn’t his problem, someone else could deal with it. But dammit, his heart tugged at him however. That more honourable side that was annoying the shit out of him, but he couldn’t ignore it, which was why he found himslf turning down the alley behind the building, alert and ready to intervene if he saw something he didn’t like. But when he rounded the corner around the back, to see a woman looking somewhat bewildered with a bag of trash that had clearly split open with all of its contents scattered across the ground. Axel cringed, hands in his pockets as he approached, “You alright love?” The Australian called to her, looking around elsewhere as well to see whether anyone had been around who might have troubled her.

Celeste picked up a soup can and lobbed it over the edge of the dumpster angrily, just as she heard the man behind her. “I may or may not have garbage residue in my hair, and there’s this huge mess,” she said, exasperated. At least people were friendly here, she thought. “Today is apparently just my clumsy day,” she said, meeting the man’s eyes.

Just as Isaac reached the alley of the back of his apartment, he noticed a girl struggling with a trash bag, trying to get it towards the dumpster. She’d already gotten to the dumpster, so he figured she wouldn’t need any help from there and went to turn away, only to hear a scream a few seconds later. He turned around and saw the trash all over the ground and he shook his head. 

“Hey, did you need a hand?” He offered, giving her a kind smile.

Celeste turned to face the boy who’d approached her. “U-um..” Embarrassment. Cute boy. Not a great first impression to the neighbors. “I...yeah,” she muttered. “Why do they have to make these things so tall?” It was a rhetorical question, though she did sort of wonder why dumpsters had to be well over her head. “I need a garbage stool,” she joked as she bent over and started picking up milk cartons and microwave dinner boxes.

“Well. To be fair, I’m not very tall myself. I mean, I’m taller than you, but not in a helpful sort of way. I’m still under 6 foot…” Milo trailed off abruptly, rubbing the back of his neck in awkward silence. He had a tendency to ramble when he was unsure of a situation. She was embarrassed. He was embarrassed for making her embarrassed. Altogether, this was generally the kind of scenario he liked to avoid. But… It did look like she needed help. And, yeah maybe he was a little weird, but he wasn’t an ass. “Look, what I mean to say is we’re both a bit short, but… maybe together we can gather this all up and try again?”

Celeste stifled a laugh. “I’m five-one - everyone is tall to me,” she said. Observing the ground, Celeste sighed. “Well, I guess I’m lucky I didn’t toss out anything particularly disgusting today,” she commented. “Maybe I can just toss each item in individually to get better airtime...”

slaving away at the bar, Astrid was almost about to clock off her shift when another customer had arrived. a long exaggerated sigh escaped her lips when she knew she had no choice but to serve them, “What can i get for you?” she asked as she leaned over the wooden bench.

Celeste slid into a seat at the bar, exhausted from unpacking all of her art supplies and setting up her studio area. Since moving to Hollow Grove the week prior, she’d also been trying to give her abilities a go - though she didn’t really know what she was doing. Perhaps it worked better when her inhibitions were down, because she could immediately sense the icy mood of the bartender - who was just about to go home. Celeste gave her a sincere apologetic look. “Ah...rum and coke, please?” She bit her lip, then flashed a small smile. “And one on me for you,” she added, trying to be polite.

“Aw man, I hate when that happens! Like who the heck even invented wind? And what is its sole purpose? To make us look like complete fools!?” Rory laughed, enjoying the company of a complete stranger. Despite the lack of thrill in the town, the people made up for that. They weren’t half bad, after all.

Celeste laughed at that. “Sometimes it’s helpful - wind power, bubble-blowing...” She shrugged. “Though I do wish I could manipulate it sometimes,” she said jokingly. “I’m Celeste, by the way - I totally didn’t introduce myself.”

Celeste stepped back slowly. “Um...are you...alright?” For all she knew, this woman could catch things on fire spontaneously.

Zoe smiled and nodded, listening as Celeste spoke. “I’m new to town too, and I’ve already gotten lost way too many times,” she said. “I’m new too all of this actually..” she added with a faint laugh, glancing around for a moment before looking back at her. “It’s lovely to meet you too Celeste. That’s a pretty cool name, not going to lie.”

“New to all of this?” Celeste questioned, a hopeful tone to her voice. “Ah, me too. I researched for months before I decided to move here - it was all a bit of a shock, honestly, but...also explains so much.” She grinned. “Thank you. My mom chose it, according to my dad.”

In the moment she saw the woman smile, Rory managed to drop her pen. ‘Dammit’, she thought to herself. As she reached down to grab her pen, she looked up and gave the stranger a sincere smile, “Thank you so much. I’m sure you can tell by what a mess I am that today is just not my day.”

Celeste gave a tiny chuckle. “Hey, it’s Monday. Everyone has a clumsy day. Last week I tripped up the stairs trying to move things into my apartment.” She gave the other woman an encouraging glance. “And I keep taking wrong turns walking around. This little mishap was at least partially produced by the wind.”
