“If you wish to sit, sit. Nobody is stopping you.”
“No one is stopping me, no, but like I said, I don’t want to intrude. Are you sure you wouldn’t rather be alone?”
——-“For fucking christ sake, I really wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of setting someone on fire right about now.”
“That’s a little bit dark. Who pissed you off?”
“You’re my kind of people.”
“Your kind of people? What kind of people would that be?”
“Apology accepted… Are you looking for something? I can assure you, you won’t find it in this mess.”
“No, I wasn’t looking for something. Or at least not really. I just wanted a quiet place to sit.”
Celeste huffed as she hauled the bag of trash down to the dumpster behind her apartment. Why does moving in have to be so messy? She thought to herself. When she reached the dumpster, it seemed to tower over her. Celeste tried to heave the trash bag over the top edge. Instead of making her mark, the bag hit the top edge of the dumpster and came down on her head.
“Shit!” she exclaimed as the bag rolled off of her and onto the ground, splitting open in the process.
Just as Isaac reached the alley of the back of his apartment, he noticed a girl struggling with a trash bag, trying to get it towards the dumpster. She’d already gotten to the dumpster, so he figured she wouldn’t need any help from there and went to turn away, only to hear a scream a few seconds later. He turned around and saw the trash all over the ground and he shook his head.
“Hey, did you need a hand?” He offered, giving her a kind smile.
“I wouldn’t call it a talent, anybody could do it if they are willing to learn how, but thank you. Actually, that’s a good idea, the police force is one of the few things I haven’t tested yet here, so I might get myself arrested.”
“And how exactly do you plan on getting yourself arrested?”
“Well, that’s a relief. That they didn’t break, not that I don’t need to apologize. I would have paid for them, however, if they’d broken. I can be stubborn. I would have found a way to leave the money when you weren’t looking,” she replied, anxiously fidgeting with a strand of her hair. She needed to work on not always being so entirely awkward. “Oh, thank you, that’s kind of you. It’s nothing serious, at least. My aunt just has a cold and she isn’t fond of doctors,” Elysia shrugged, eyes taking in the interior as he searched for what she’d asked for. Hearing him speak again, she forced herself to focus and turned her head so that she was looking at him. “That sounded a bit like bragging,” she joked, a light smile finding its way to her lips. “But honestly, you’re entitled to it. I don’t blame my aunt, either. I’m picky about where I get certain things and I know what to expect when I come here for herbs so I’ve never actually gone anywhere else to buy any. Seems kind of pointless to branch out when I’m perfectly satisfied with what I buy here.”
“That’s very kind of you, but it’s a little bit difficult to sneak things past me.” He allowed a small grin to spread across his face as he reached up a hand to tap his pointer finger against his temple. His ability gave him the upper hand on people trying to sneak around him or surprise him. “You’re welcome. I understand her hesitance of going to doctors and such. Most of the time the doctors are only there to rip you off and make money. Natural herbs and remedies are often the best way to go.” Isaac couldn’t help but chuckle at her joke, shrugging his shoulders. “I think I’ve earned the bragging rights. Well, the owner has. I’m just here to collect said rights.” He gestured towards the herbs he pulled out for her. “Would you like me to wrap these up for you?”
It was like a chain reaction, when someone jumped, he also jumped. Only Finn usually ended up jumping a lot higher and letting out a little squeal to go with it, as he did just then when he came face to face with Isaac when he appeared through the curtain. At least Isaac wouln’t have heard his girlish squeal thanks to him having those ear pieces in and it gave him the brief moment he needed to compose himself, “Sorry! Sorry Isaac, I didn’t mean to scare you!” He insisted before he’d put on his brightest, most grovelling grin he could, “I know and I’m so sorry, you must wanna get home after a long day. But I was just setting up another experiment and realised that I was missing one of the ingredients so I thought I’d run over here and pray that maybe you had it?” He was determined to do this tonight, and he needed that ingredient! “It’s… Hold on…” He fumbled with the pocket of his jacket to pull out a scrap of paper and held it up to read, “I need petrified Birch wood, please please please tell me you have some?” He clasped his hands together, desperately hoping.
The younger male obviously overreacted, something that Isaac found hilarious. He let out a soft laugh, shaking his head. “It’s fine, it’s fine. Relax, Finn. Don’t worry about it.” He fixed the herb jars on the counter, glancing at him over his shoulder. “I’ll more than likely have it here in the shop,” Isaac replied quietly, already making his way across the store as Finn fumbled for the scrap of paper that held the name of the ingredient he needed. “Petrified Birch wood,” he repeated, nodding slowly as he quickly scanned the shelves. He found it a few seconds later, plucking it from its space on the shelf. “Here we are. Is that all you needed?”
Katrina smiled as he had offered to give her a hand, “you see i’m not sure what the name of the herb is exactly ” she said in embarrassment as she looked around the shop. “I’m trying to look for this healing sort of herb that I can use after I do this spell,” she explained as she gave him a small nod. “It’s embarrassing really but my grandmother used to collect these kinds of ingredients for me and I was hoping the person who owns the place or looks after it which seems to be you would be able to help me out” Katrina said as she looked at different herbs that were placed in the glass jars, and turned around as she looked back at him. “Did that make any sense?”
“You’re not sure..” He trailed off, raising an eyebrow up at her. Isaac was used to people coming in the shop not knowing what they needed, but he wasn’t used to witches coming into the shop and not knowing what they needed. “Well there’s a lot of healing herbs out there, and we have most of them here in the store. Do you remember what it does exactly, or what form it comes in? A plant, a flower, powder?” He listed off some of the forms the herbs they sold in the shop came in.
With a polite smile, the vampire gives a small nod, “I like to go all out for Christmas. I’m one of those people who decorates the lawn, puts the tree up straight up after Thanksgiving, the whole nine years but especially when it comes to gifts.” He admits, even considering getting the man one just on the basis of being kind which was the type of man Vince was. The one who wanted to give more than he took from the world. While most vampires he knew stopped celebrating birthdays and holidays with as much enthusiasm, he was quite the opposite. “Alright, man – sounds good to me. I was thinking types of oils like angelica root, amyris, allspice leaves, neroli essential oil, alkanet root, annatto seeds. Maybe I’ll buy a bulk of natural oils too? I want to fill them out pretty nicely, do you have any suggestions?”
“That’s really nice to hear, actually. Not a lot of people are like that.. Most people don’t really get into the holiday spirit like you do anymore.” His eyebrows shoot up as he listens to the things the other male lists off, grabbing the notepad a few inches away so he can write down all of the herbs and oils he needs so he won’t forget. “Oils? My favorites are jasmine, tea tree, almond, anise, benzoin and bergamot. Camphor is very effective as well.. Do you mind my asking if you’re getting these oils for witches? And what their abilities are? I can list some oils that would strengthen their abilities.”
Sophia offered up a meek smile as the young man spoke and her cheeks turned a faint shade of red. “I promise I don’t go running around the woods topless, its not that kind of town.” Sophia explained as he unzipped his hoodie. “Oh gosh yes that would be extra helpful, I’ve got a bit of a walk left here and I would really hate to have any further wardrobe mishap.”
“I would hope not. Running around topless isn’t really the right message we want to send to people just arriving into town, or people visiting our town,” he teased, shrugging out of the hoodie and handing it over to her. “Here you are. Feel free to keep that. Y’know, just in case you find yourself out in the woods with no shirt again.”
“Haven’t you heard? When a door is closed, you should really knock. You could be interrupting something important.” Or devastating, he thought.
“Really? I had no idea.” Isaac rolled his eyes. “I would have knocked, I just assumed the room was empty. My apologies.”

Your boss tells your coworker that they have to let them go because of work shortage, and they are the newest employee. You have been there much longer. Your coworker has a family to support and no other means of income. Do you go to your boss and offer to leave the company? Why or Why not?
“No, I wouldn’t offer to leave the company because I need a job, obviously. But I would go to my boss and point him in the direction of another employee or two that have been slacking in the work ethic department and suggest that maybe they should be laid off instead.”
Which would you choose, true love with a guarantee of a broken heart, or never loved at all? Why?
“Never loved at all. Who the hell would want to fall in love with someone just to have their heart broken? You might as well forgo all the trouble and save yourself the heartache. It’d be the best for both parties involved.”
You can have one of the following two things. Which do you choose? Why? Love and Trust.
“Trust, of course. Because I don’t really think I could ever love someone if I didn’t trust them. Or I couldn’t love them fully, I guess. I wouldn’t be able to trust that they loved me as much as I loved them, or that they’re faithful to me. That they really want to be with me. So I’d choose trust.”
