After forever and a day I finally have my refs for my Antinous and Telemachus completed. GUH. It's been a long road... but we're finally here.

Still working on Telemachus but in the meantime, here is my Antinous reference! I did a few funky things with this one. I wanted to showcase his nobility status and his father’s piracy by combining some Mycenaean elements with New Kingdom elements from Egypt, since that was a prominent trading partner at the time, or at least into the archaic period and into Herodotus’ time in the classical period.

The collar of the tunic is inspired by an Egyptian New Kingdom pattern, and while the fabric around his waist is Mycenaean in influence and design, it’s worn in a similar style to an Egyptian shendyt type worn during that time period.

Furs were also indications of status, and the choice of the lion draws on his own comparison and hubris to himself as Herakles with the Nemean lion.
