PRIDE IS HERE! 🏳️🌈
been working on unlearning male defaultism in the ways I speak to people and I've replaces "guys" with "crew". and you know what? it's SO fun. addressing the readers of my posts with a "kia ora crew!" and saying farewell to my friends with a "bye crew!!" is so delightful. everyone should adopt a fun way to address people. peace and love
its pride month in ninjago city
You are perma tf'd into the first pokemon you generate on this website, how happy are you wit your new form
worm therian trying to soft launch their alterhumanity to their partner: would you still love me if, hypothetically,
i hate to be one to throw around the big scary words and speak on others' behalves like a true tumblr white girl, but . Ive been seeing some headcanons surrounding Cole being this gross, stinky dude who doesn't wash his bum & whatnot goin around, and like . I feel like that really just seems rooted in racism ?
& like im not trying to call anyone racist as a person or whatever, you can say stuff that may or may not be racist without realizing that's what you're doing, & most people in the fandom are literal children (or at least, so i assume)
Also it might be some inside joke i just haven't been let in on, idk
Anyway . To get to the actual point . I feel like it's based less on how he actually acts & more just around him being like, racially indian-adjacent - cause sadly, that's (from what i hear) an annoyingly persistent stereotype about indians, that's (again, from what I've heard) even held up by otherwise ordinary, accepting people
And i just can't see how anyone could watch the same show i did, and decide that the most well put together, down to earth, em/sympathetic and arguably most sensitive guy on the team is this farting, diarrhea-stench swine of a man
(little edit here: there actually are a couple legitimate clues to this conclusion; something about stinky socks & peeing in pools (which I'll look into a little more when I'm free))
Like i would get it, sort of, if it was just about DR Cole, since he's living on basically a scrap yard, but I never see anybody say it about the rest of the Land Of Lost Things (or whatever it's called in English) family, or even just Geo.
Like yeah he doesn't seem to have running water over there, but neither does any of the others, why isn't the hc ever that they stink as a family thing instead of just targeting Cole specifically?
It sucks to me that kids from India (and surrounding countries ? maybe ? sry, don't know a lot abt the world) finally got actually good representation in a massive show, and then this really negative stereotype sorta gets applied to him, y'know?
as a little final note again: not actually trying to call any one specific person racist or malicious. I'm entirely in the realm of speculation with that last paragraph. I don't even know how popular that head canon is. i have no clue who started it, i don't know their intent, nor that of anyone who hopped on it. You can believe in racist things without realizing it; from what i hear, almost everyone does to some extent. just, yknow, most do their darndest to minimize it ofc
I just don't want to see one of my favorite shows used to spread harmful stereotypes, intentional or not.
also sry to the ppl who're seeing this when they just wanna look at cute Cole fanart or smth i hope im not too much of a bother i just feel like it kinda had to be said
also also if you're someone who is/would be personally affected by this I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter bc i am . Very much just a white dumbass who watches videos abt this kinda stuff on the interwebs . i have frankly never been/felt stereotyped or meaningfully oppressed in my life
all the online (and irl) racism against indians has increased heavily in these past three years. as an indian myself it's very hurtful, especially seeing a character i (and most likely many others) relate to get bashed on for being a specific race? not even confirmed at that?
all the "stinky/ugly/smelly/dirty" stereotypes are extremely hurtful and have no basis whatsoever. the fact that a lot of the fandom treats it as simply a joke is honestly worse. racism against indians has turned into exactly that-- a joke-- and seeing how so many people in a fandom FOR A KIDS SHOW are normalising it and even encouraging it really pisses me off
bit of a rant but i feel like it needed to be said. the "half white half chinese" discourse was, once again, one based off racist views.
he's a fictional character, and a fucking lego. bullying people online, normalising racial stereotypes, going to the extent of outright abusing indians as a whole is horrible and immature. it speaks for half the fandom's mental age.
it needs to stop. discourse about whether he's black, white, japanese, indian, it doesnt. fucking. matter. what DOES matter is how people are reacting to opinions, and how they treat others because of all this.

oh ok thanks for the reminder
it rlly has been funny noticing how often ppl resort to using slut or hoe when insulting random women regardless of their sexual activity bc the only thing actually being said is a woman choosing to have sex is a bad thing and thus the natural “good” state of a woman is to have her sex taken from her forcibly, and they think this is like…a normal take and not indicative of rape culture and general misogyny plaguing their brain
