Underworks 997
so im looking into buying my first binders next month, and i know which one I like, but i need to be realistic on what ones would be good for me. Anyone have any ideas for someone on the chesty side? i want the underworks 997…
I use the underworks 997 and it works great! I'm on my second one now, the first one lasted me a year, probably should've switched at 9 months, but funds were low, and it held up ok. You definitely get your money's worth with the 997. Wash it 1-2 times a week, but DON'T dry it, the heat will break down the elastic and make it less effective. You can swim in it, it's long on me, but I just tuck it in my pants like an undershirt and that helps to keep it from riding up anyway, so it works. Anyway, hope this was helpful. Good luck!
if we could all stop for a minute and see the depth in this, we’d all be one step closer to being a more understanding sort of people.
I absolutely love this.
This is pretty much my theme song for my transition as well as my weight loss journey. I just want people to understand that I'm still the same person, I'm just trying to be happy and be the REAL me.
Anyone 21 and under need a binder, but can't afford one? Apply for a free one here!
Anyone have an old binder they don't need anymore? Think about donating it here!

Transition Timeline
So this just gives you an idea of where I am in my transition and some of my goals for the future:
2006 - Out as a lesbian
2007 - Began dating my fiance
2007 - Met my first Trans*guy (fiance's older brother)
2009 - Became friends with Coy (F-t-M) and realized we shared similar thoughts and feelings about our bodies, had similar experiences, etc.
2010 - Out as Trans*, but not sure where I fit in the Transgender spectrum - Was I Genderqueer, F-t-M, Androgynous, Butch? Wasn't sure...
2011 - Finally realized and admitted to myself and others that I am F-t-M
2011 (July 14th) - Officially decided on "Travis" as my new name and changed it on Facebook - Out to everyone except family
2011 (Hanukkah) - My fiance bought me my first Chest Compression Binder
2012 (November 5th) - Made the call to the Fan Free Clinic (Richmond, VA) to talk to the director of Transgender Services there - had an appointment for the next week
- Met with the director, she explained to me the process of how to begin Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) - first I would have to meet with their psychologist to establish whether I was mentally and emotionally ready to begin Testosterone treatments, if she thought I wasn't, additional therapy would need to be completed before treatments could begin, but luckily, she approved me and said I was "the perfect candidate for hormone treatment."
- The next step was a physical to make sure I was healthy enough to start T, which I was, and the doctor gave me a prescription for Testosterone that day and told me my first injection was in a week!
2012 (December 1st) - Got my first prescription of Testosterone filled at Walgreens. My fiance and I were worried about the cost of T, but luckily I found a coupon online and it made my $110 prescription only $65!
2012 (December 4th) - MY FIRST T SHOT!!!!!!
2012 (Christmas) - Got a new chest binder because the old one was stretched out and beginning to get holes from everyday use
2013 - As of now, I'm still not out to my family. I'm in the process of figuring out how I will come out to them.
2013 (February) - 2 months on T! Just had my 5th shot this week. Voice has gotten deeper, slight hair growth on face, building muscle.
Goals for the future:
2013 (July 14th - my Birthday) - Have my name legally changed and have my gender marker changed on my license. Also, come out to my family by then
2015 - I hope to have completed my weight loss journey and be at my goal weight in 2 years - I have 100 lbs to lose, I can do it!
2018 - Chest surgery. In 5 years I hope to save up enough money to have my top surgery, to help complete this transition
