Frustration - CB98
Connor Bedard x fem!reader
my masterlist
Summary: An unexpected result at Connors post-op appointment leaves him frustrated and feeling useless. When you offer to help him, the both of you end up exchanging words that you can't take back.
Warnings: established relationship, language, fighting, angst, making up in the end, not proofread
Authors note: glad I got to go to a Blackhawks game in April and watch those guys play bc now I won’t get to see Connor play until November ish
Today had been unexpectedly hard. Connor had a post-op appointment with his doctor, and the results hadn't been as good as you both hoped for. His body had been reacting to the medication slower than expected, which raised concerns for his recovery time. He had been on edge the moment the doctor had told him that. The car ride home had been silent, underlying tension following you both into the apartment that afternoon.
You had been in the living room when you heard it. The sound of glass hitting the floor, followed by Connnor’s voice. “Fuck!” He exclaimed.
You sat up from your spot on the couch, making your way into the kitchen. Connor insisted on doing everything himself. He was too stubborn to admit that he needed help, regardless of how big or small the task was. You couldn't blame him for that though, in the time you had known Connor you had learned everything about him, especially how he thought he needed to do everything by himself just to prove a point to his own mind.
“Con?” You asked softly, walking in the kitchen to see him standing there, glass cup on the floor, miraculously unscathed. His brows were pinched together and his jaw was clenched. You could see the frustration radiating off of him and your heart fell. “Do you want some help?”
“No,” He snapped, voice guarded. “I cant even—fuck—I cant even get a glass of water.” He whispered, more to himself than you. His fingers flexed and you watched him wince at the limited mobility in his left arm.
“Let me help you.” You told him, grabbing the cup off the floor.
“I don't need help.” He said, frustration seeping into his tone. His voice was sharp, but you pushed anyway.
“I understand that, but—”
“No!” He snapped, voice rising. You recoiled back, surprise etching itself on your features. “No, you dont fucking understand. I’m fucking useless right now!” His chin wobbled and he bit his lip, looking anywhere but your face.
You felt the frustration in his tone, which only set you off. Maybe you didn't understand the physical pain, but you had been with him for so long that you felt every little emotion he did, which was both a blessing and curse. You knew his mind, his emotions, how frustrated he was with constantly feeling like he was made of glass. You understand his anger, his frustration. But, he had no right to sit here and snap at you when you've done nothing but try to help him.
“I don't understand?” You cried incredulously, throwing your hands up. He was leaning against the counter, biting his lip so hard you were sure he was about to draw blood.
“No, you don’t.” He snapped back. “You dont understand what it feels like to sit here and feel fucking helpless!”
You huffed. “I don't understand what it's like to feel helpless? You know how fucking helpless I felt when you broke your jaw and I had to watch it from our apartment, or when you fucked up your other shoulder and I was over four hours away? What about when you didn't make the olympics and I sat there, holding you while you cried? Do you know how useless I felt? Don't stand here and tell me I don't understand what it's like to feel helpless.” Your voice cracked, you knew these were low blows, but you didn't care. “I’ve sacrificed so much for you, Connor! So don't ever say I don't understand. You seem to have forgotten that I know you. I’ve spent the last years of my life learning who you are, and what goes on in your head, how you like the house at a certain temperature on game days, what your favorite food is, how you feel after a game, how you like those stupidly stale scones from that bakery down the street. So don’t fucking say that shit to my face.”
Connor’s eyes widened, not expecting you to snap back so intensely. He went to open his mouth, but you cut him off. “No, I’m not done. I might not understand the pain you’re going through, and maybe I dont understand your frustration, but I’m fucking trying to. I’ve seen how you got when you broke your jaw, and when you fucked up your other shoulder, and you know what I did?” You asked, and when he stayed quiet you continued. “I tried my hardest to understand. I stayed up every night after you fell asleep, researching different things that could get you on the ice faster, because I know who you are. You’re not useless or helpless, you just need to quit being fucking stubborn and let someone help you.”
He paused, throat bobbing. Guilt seeped into his features, eyes flashing with regret. “I,” He let out a shaky exhale. “Fuck, I’m sorry.”
You nodded, lips pursed together. You felt tears prick the corners of your eyes, but you blinked them back. “I need to be alone for a bit.” You told him, retreating down the hallway to your shared bedroom. He stood there like an idiot, listening to the door shut softly.
When the door closed, you let yourself finally cry. The tears flowed freely down your face as you sat on the edge of the bed. You looked at the nightstand, a framed picture of you and Connor from last year at a concert. You were grinning at the camera, cheeks pink, while Connor was looking at you, arm wrapped around your waist. He had told you it was his favorite picture of the two of you.
You felt your lip wobble as more tears escaped. You felt guilty, sad, and frustrated all at once. Connor and you had fought before. But this one was playing in your mind, and you regretted the words you said the more and more you sat there. Bringing up his past injuries and the olympics was a low blow, but you just didn't know how to get your point across.
What felt like an eternity passed until you heard a soft knock. You almost thought it was your imagination, until you heard a small sniffle from the other side of the door. “Come in.” You said, voice hoarse.
The door slowly opened and Connor stepped inside, his face was red and you could tell he had been crying. His eyes were full of guilt, and his face crumpled when he saw your tear stricken face.
He stood next to your side of the bed, opening and closing his mouth for a minute. Racking his brain to form an apology. “I shouldn't have snapped,” He finally said, voice thick with emotion. “I was being a dick, and my shoulder isn't an excuse to act like that, especially towards you. I'm sorry.”
“I was only trying to help.” You whispered. “If you want me to back off I can.”
“No, no, no.” He shook his head. “I don’t want you to do that. C’mere.” he said softly, opening his arms.
You hesitated, standing up slowly, resting your head on his chest. His arm wrapped around you, loose enough that you could pull back if you wanted to. You didn't. Your arms wrapped around his waist, mindful of his sling and shoulder. You were still tense against him, and Connor noticed. Of course he did. He sighed, kissing the top of your head, while his hand rubbed your back.
“I really am sorry.” He whispered against your head, his voice shaky. “I wasn't being fair. I’ve seen how much you’ve sacrificed for me and I chose to ignore it. I’m sorry.”
“No, it wasn't fair.” You agreed, blinking rapidly.
“I know—fuck—I know. I was being a dick.” He told you. “I’m so fucking sorry.” His voice was laced with guilt and you found yourself relaxing against him.
“Okay.” You said after a minute, pulling back to see his eyes scan your face.
“Okay?” He asked, thumb rubbing mindless little circles on your hip.
“I forgive you. I’m sorry I snapped too. I shouldn't have brought up those things.” You apologized, cupping his face, tracing his cheekbone with your thumb. He leaned into the touch, closing his eyes softly.
“Dont apologize. It made me realize that I’ve been an ass.” He smiled sheepishly, pink tinting his cheeks.
You smiled softly, bringing your lips together, your hands coming up to thread in his hair. He kissed you back eagerly, humming into it. You pulled back after a minute, both of you breathing heavily. He had a dopey smile on his face, his eyes crinkling.
“I love you.” He said, tucking your hair behind your ear, before cupping your cheek.
“I love you, too.” You hummed, eyes closed. “I hate when we fight.”
“Me too.”
Is now a bad time to finish and post my Connor Bedard injury fic I started like last month🧍♀️😅
Lost in the night - GM72
Gavin McKenna x fem!reader
my masterlist
Summary: A storm has your flight delayed and you missing one of the most important moments of your boyfriend’s life—getting drafted to the nhl. Somehow, you make it to Buffalo just in time to surprise him in his hotel room, getting one night together before he has to leave for dev camp.
Warnings/contents: Established relationship, showering together briefly, cussing, slightly suggestive for a second? Not proofread, no real plot that I stuck to.
Authors note: I hope people like this bc I’m lowkey scared to post it for some reason
You let out a breath of relief when the uber pulled up to the hotel. One delayed flight later and you were finally in Buffalo. You had missed Gavin getting drafted, a storm keeping you in an airport with no idea of when or if your flight would be back on schedule. Thankfully, it was one of the only flights delayed a few hours instead of completely cancelled. Unfortunately, it also meant that you missed your boyfriend getting drafted.
You were sick to your stomach about it. This was such an important moment in Gavins life and you couldn’t even be there for him because of the fucking weather. You had texted his mom about it, asking her to tell him. Not wanting to burden him with the knowledge of your flight getting delayed through the phone. He had ended up texting you anyway. A simple Mom told me about your flight. Please don't stress about it. Seriously. I know you'd be right here next to me if you could. I love you so much!!
Five hours and too many energy drinks later, you watched from the horrible plain wifi as your boyfriend got drafted to Toronto. You told his mom that your flight was back on, and that you’d land in Buffalo around nine that night. She hadn't told Gavin that you would be there that night, wanting to give him a little surprise to come back to.
Walking into the lobby you spotted his mom and his sister. “You made it.” His mom smiled, bringing you into a hug.
You inhaled shakily. “I can't believe I missed it. I’m sick over it.” You admitted, voice wavering.
“It's okay.” She whispered, pressing a comforting kiss to the top of your head. “It’s okay. He understands.”
“I was able to watch it from the plane.” You said, pulling back. “I was crying next to some old man. I think he thought I was insane.”
The old man had sent you a particularly dirty look when the tears started streaming down your face. But in your defense, the camera panned to Gavin on the phone right before he was selected. You had been unable to control your emotions, the day finally catching up to you.
She laughed softly, reaching into her purse. “Heres a spare room key, he's got his own room. He’ll probably be back in about an hour. Do you want one of us to stay with you?”
You shook your head, grabbing the key. “No, I’ll be okay. Thank you.”
“Of course. Oh, he’s going to be so excited to see you.” She told you.
“The whole day he's been worried sick about your flight.” His sister interrupted. “He’s gonna lose his mind.”
You laughed slightly, heart swelling with that familiar warmth it always had at the mention of him. The guilt was still rough around the edges of your mind, but it subsided when you finally got to speak to them.
You bid them farewell, promising to text if you needed anything.
The hotel was simple, a bed, small couch, and a little bathroom. Gavin’s stuff was thrown around the whole room and you rolled your eyes softly at the mess he had made in only a few days. It calmed your nerves, surprisingly. Knowing that he was so close to you. You changed out of your airport clothes into something more comfortable. Grabbing one of Gavin's hoodies and a pair of shorts from your bag.
About 45 minutes passed before you heard the sound of a key card swiping. You jumped up from the bed, standing in the middle of the room with a grin making its way onto your face. The door finally opened and there was Gavin, hair tousled and exhaustion radiating off his body. His arms were full of things—Jersey, blazer, hats, and a bag full of Leafs gear.
He glanced up, doing a double take. Face quickly morphing from surprise to excitement when he saw you. He dropped his stuff, wasting no time in rushing forward and pulling you in a hug, hand coming up to cradle your head against his neck. You laughed, wrapping your arms around him.
“What the fuck?” He whispered in your ear. “You’re here?” He pulled back, scanning your face.
“I’m here.” You whispered, cupping his face with your hands. A smile broke out on his face, eyes crinkling with happiness. “I made it.”
“How?” He asked, brows furrowed. “I thought they cancelled a bunch of flights.”
“They did.” You nodded. “But mine was one of the only flights delayed a few hours.”
He seemed to realize that you really were standing there in front of him, because he quickly connected your lips. Pulling you flush against his body. You felt the pressure leave his body the moment his lips were on you. The responsibilities of today slowly leaving the longer he was holding you.
His tongue traced along your bottom lip in a silent question. You opened your mouth eagerly, tongues crashing in a kiss that left your knees weak. He pulled back after a minute, breathing heavily.
“I can’t believe you're here.” He admitted, voice soft as he sat down on the edge of the bed, pulling you between his legs. His arms wrapped around your waist, head coming down to rest against your chest.
“I’m sorry I wasn't here for you.” You apologized, running your hands through his hair.
“Don’t be.” He told you, voice muffled by the fabric of your hoodie. “You can’t control the weather.”
“I know, but still. Feels like I let you down.” You frowned.
He shook his head. “No, no, you’re here now and that's all I care about.” His hands slipped under your hoodie, thumbs rubbing against your skin softly. “I need to shower.” He mumbled, pulling back.
You nodded, stepping back. “Do,” You started, heat rising to your cheeks. “Do you want company?”
“You? Always.” he paused. “Can you take this off?” He asked, fumbling with his tie. You laughed slightly, your hands making their way to his collar, loosening the tie for him.
You made your way to the bathroom, both of you peeling your clothes off slowly, stealing kisses as you waited for the water to heat up.
The water cascaded down your back as you stood in Gavin's arms, his chest pressed against your back. The shower was small, but you made it work, basking in the presence of each other. He pressed soft kisses to your shoulder, holding you close.
You eventually peeled yourself off of him, turning around to work the conditioner into his hair. Your nails grazed his scalp, fingers running through the strands. He got quiet all of a sudden, his gaze settling on your chest, brows furrowing.
“What?” You asked as you scrubbed the suds into his hair, making it spike up wildly.
“Is that the hickey I gave you almost a week ago?” He grinned.
You glanced down at your chest, seeing the fading bruise that he had, in fact, given you almost a week ago.
“Shut up and let me wash your hair.” You said, blush coating your cheeks.
Somehow that made him grin even more, hand coming down to grab your ass shamelessly.
“Gavin.” You warned, a smile breaking out on your face.
“Yes ma’am,” He said, ducking his head down for you to rinse the product out. “I’m letting you wash it.”
You rolled your eyes with no real heat behind it, resuming your movements.
***
“Thank you.” Gavin whispered into the dark, tightening his hold on you. Your head was on his chest, bodies molded together, slotting perfectly against each other. You were tracing mindless little shapes on his arm, listening to the sound of his heartbeat steady under you. “Thank you for always supporting me.”
“Always. I’ll always support you.” You whispered back, voice soft. “I’m so proud of you.”
You meant every word. Gavin was your best friend. He was the person you could count on after a rough day. The person you could ramble about random topics to and he'd sit there listening with a grin on his face. The person you had spent the last few years of your life loving, despite all the long distances and challenges you faced together.
“I love you so much.” He said, bringing your hand up and kissing your knuckles softly.
You smiled against his chest, a warm feeling blooming in your chest. “I love you too.”
“What’s,” He started, voice quiet. “What’s next for us?”
You paused, unsure of how to answer. Obviously, you had done long distance before, but never with the added pressure of the NHL.
“I don’t know.” You admitted. “But I do know that I’d follow you wherever. So if that's Toronto, then that’s Toronto.”
“You’re too good for me.” He said softly, squeezing your waist.
“I’m in it for the long haul with you, Gav. No matter what happens or where you go.” You promised him, lacing your fingers back together.
He let out a sigh, as if your answer was the only assurance he needed. You could tell that the familiar feeling of exhaustion was slowly creeping in, his voice going an octave lower and his words slowing down. “I needed to hear that.”
You picked your head up, giving him a small peck on the lips. “We’ll figure out the future later. It’s bed time now, you need all the sleep you can get before dev camp.”
With a final squeeze of your hand, his breathing evened out as sleep took over. His body completely relaxed under you, mouth parting slightly. You smiled softly to yourself, eyes closing as you slowly nodded off, Gavin’s arms still wrapped tight around you.
Macklin as your boyfriend headcanons!
My masterlist
Authors note: Thinking abt making one of these for Connor x Makar!reader…
Boyfriend!Macklin who subconsciously chews on little things—Hoodie strings, his chain, bottle caps. If there’s something near him, he’s definitely chewing on it. One time, you had been writing a grocery list, alternating between your list and the fridge. And all of a sudden, your pen was gone. Looking up, you found Macklin standing there, pen between his lips. You sent him a look and he just sent you a sheepish smile, cheeks going pink.
Boyfriend!Macklin Who zones out a lot. His mind is constantly racing, so more often than not, you find him sitting there staring blankly, his thoughts in a different place. It gets especially prominent the days he has a game, mind racing with strategies, questions, and nerves. You’ll gently rub his shoulder, doing your best to pull him out of his own thoughts.
Boyfriend!Macklin Who constantly tells you about sports statistics and facts. He definitely will ramble on about how Jeff Reese set the record for most points by a goaltender in one game, or how back in 1985, the Oilers and Blackhawks had a combined 21 goals in one night, with Wayne Gretzky getting seven assists. Despite what people think of him as an athlete and the persona he's gotten from the media, he's really just a huge sports nerd who will talk about it to anyone who will listen to him.
Boyfriend!Macklin Who gets so dramatic when you’re busy and he's not. He’ll groan from his spot on the couch, rolling his eyes dramatically when you tell him you need to be productive. He’ll watch you move around the apartment, hoodie string in his mouth, waiting for you to finish whatever you had to do so you two can finally cuddle.
Boyfriend!Macklin who almost constantly has Will over, not that you mind. The three of you get along so well, and it’s so refreshing to see the joy Macklin has when they’re together. They’ll play games on the tv or simply just watch movies. The only downside of them hanging out together so much is that Will has definitely been a cockblock more than once for you guys. One day after a failed attempt to shower together, you suggested Life360 as a joke. But Macklin took it upon himself to have Will download it without giving him a reason why.
Boyfriend!Macklin who lives for compliments. He’ll try a new shampoo and if you tell him his hair smells good, he’s all but a puddle on the floor. You’ll help him pick out game day outfits, telling him that color looks good on him, or you like that suit, or jokingly smacking his ass when he turns around. Whatever it is, he absolutely loves it, face going bright red with a shit eating grin.
Boyfriend!Macklin who wears his heart on his sleeve, constantly showing you how much he loves you. He understands the sacrifices you’re making for him too. It’s so important to him that you know how much he truly does love and care for you. The boys will tease him about how whipped he is for you, but he doesn’t care. He’ll just smile softly and agree with them.
Boyfriend!Macklin who will constantly support you and join you with any random hobby you decide to try. If you want to start journaling? He’s right there with you, writing stuff down in a little notebook. (He’s also asking you to spell half the words that he’s trying to write) if you want to try embroidery? Okay, here’s some of his shirts, put something cool on them that he can show off. Whatever it is, he’s your biggest supporter.
Moving in together? - CB98
Connor Bedard x Makar!reader
series masterlist
Summary: A rainy night in Chicago leads to talks about your future with Connor.
warnings/contents: established relationship, goes with my fade into you series but doesn't really have a specific order in which you have to read, set around Nov/Dec 2025, probably some college inaccuracies
Authors note: I feel like a chicken with my head cut off with my writing bc I'll get a request, write like the first page of stuff then get unmotivated for a solid few days to finish it. So if you requested something, I promise I do see it!! It js takes me some time to write it and/or find the time to sit down and focus on it. it also doesn't help that this past week has been insanely busy for me unfortunately
The only noise in Connor's apartment was the music softly playing from the record player you had purchased for him. A while ago, he had admitted how quiet his apartment got by himself, so for his birthday you had gotten him a record player, with a bunch of albums you knew he liked only because they reminded him of you. Outside, the rain poured down, and the sound of thunder could be heard every few minutes over the music. The sun had set only a little bit ago. And you both had been watching the city sparkle with life—even in a rain storm.
“C’mere.” He beckoned you over with a nod of his head. He was lying on the couch, blanket peeled off of him in a silent offering to lay with him.
You made your way over to him, body molding on top of his, with your head against his chest. His heartbeat was a steady rhythm under your ear, and you sighed, wishing you could stop time and live in this moment with him forever. Connor wrapped the blanket over the both of you, sinking into the couch more as his arms wrapped around your body. “I love you.” You said, watching the storm outside.
“I love you so much.” He said, pressing a small kiss to the top of your head. “Don’t wanna see you leave tomorrow.” You frowned against his chest, the trip to Chicago had been a last minute trip and unfortunately, you had to be back in Colorado tomorrow night.
“I don't want to leave.” You said, voice small.
You hated long-distance, it was so hard on the both of you. But you didn’t really have any other options right now. At least, not until you finished school. Although, unbeknownst to Connor, you had done some research on different colleges in Chicago. Just to see, is what you told yourself. But, you didn’t say that when you read the whole transfer application process three times. A friend had also told you about an online program you might be able to do your senior year. But you wouldn't know until Monday if you qualified for it or not.
“Then don’t.” He said, squeezing you tighter.
“Con,” You started, emotion seeping into your throat. “You know I have to go. I can't stay here forever, I have to go home.”
“I hate this.” He admitted, voice going quiet.
“I do too.”
He continued. “I hate that I can’t come home to you everyday. I hate that I have to love you through a screen when I want nothing more than to just hold you. I just want to have you here with me after a game, or a roadie, or even just after practice. It’s too quiet without you here, I just… hate it so much.” He stopped, sniffling slightly.
“Are you crying?” You asked, turning your head to glance up at him.
He was quiet for a beat, exhaling shakily.
“Oh Con.” You whispered, twisting your body around to where you were face to face with him. You brought your hand up, cupping his cheek. You had only ever seen him cry a handful of times, but never over something like this. “I’m right here, baby. Why are you crying?”
His lip wobbled, and his hand came up to hold yours that was on his cheek. “I just can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have you in my life.”
You smiled softly, kissing the stray tear that glided down his cheek. “I’m so lucky to have you too. I couldn't do this without you.”
He smiled. “Sorry,” He cleared his throat. “I didn’t mean to get all sad.”
“It’s okay.” You assured him. “I’m glad I’m here.”
“Me too.” He shifted slightly, bringing your head to the crook of his neck. He laid there, listening to the sound of you breathing, and your heart beating. You pressed a soft kiss against the soft skin of his neck, savoring the feeling of him against you.
The voice of bon iver filled the silence until Connor shifted again, body tensing under you.
“What’s wrong?” You asked, not moving.
Connor paused for a beat.
“Move in with me.” He finally said.
You paused, eyes going wide.
“What?” You asked, pushing yourself up.
He grabbed your hand, a small blush blossomed over his cheeks. “Well, I know you still need to finish school and stuff. But when you graduate, if you want to live here with me, I’d really like that.” He smiled softly. “I know it might not be good timing to bring this up, I mean we’ve been together for almost two years and you’ve got family and friends and school in Denver, but I—”
You heard enough, surging forward and connecting your lips. He let out a surprised sound before kissing you back, hands settling on your waist.
“Theres this program,” You started, pulling back slowly, giggling as he chased your lips. “I don't fully understand it. But the main idea is that I can spend the last year of my degree all online. I would still need to talk to my counselor about it to see if it's even possible for me to do it, but if I can…” You trailed off, looking at Connor, trying to gauge his reaction.
“I can't ask you to do all that for me.” He said, shaking his head slightly.
“No.” You agreed. “But I would do it. I’ve got a meeting with my counselor on Monday about it.”
His eyes widened, absorbing the information you just dumped on him.
“What about your brother?”
“Cale will get over it. I’m an adult.”
‘So,” He started. “If you do go online…” His voice trailed off.
“I could move to Chicago and finish out my schooling here.” You finished, grinning at the disbelief on his face. “If you’d like me to, of course.”
“Of course I want you here. More than anything else.” He admitted. “But, you’re not just saying that because I brought it up, right?”
You shook your head. “No. I was actually looking at schools I could transfer to over here before my friend told me about this online course. I could get a job in media with some sort of business or even try to get an internship with the hawks.”
“Wow, okay, yeah, this is a lot to process.” He said.
“I know. It might be a bit of a long process. But, I don't want to do this…long distance stuff for any longer. I want to build our future together, not just in little weekend trips or summers.” You told him.
“I don't want to do this long distance anymore either.” He laughed slightly. “We’re really gonna do this?”
“Yeah, yeah we are.” You laughed, kissing him again. You felt him smile into the kiss, hand coming up to cup your jaw.
“I love you.” He said against your lips, pulling back slightly to look at you. His gaze was relieved, eyes crinkling with joy.
“I love you too.” You smiled, resting your forehead against his.

Macklin Celebrini x private!chef!reader
my masterlist
Summary: Macklin definitely didn’t need someone to cook for him. He was twenty, not ten. But, when his agent hired you? It was all over for him the moment he met you.
Warnings/contents: smut, pinv, cussing, protected sex, allusions? to oral (m receiving)
Authors note: 3k words later and its done!! This was the longest thing I've ever wrote but I actually really like it 🙂↕️ also idk if anyone ever realizes but abt 85% of the things I’ve posted have had songs as the title and I take it incredibly serious 😭 it’s like picking a song for an instagram story
Macklin Celebrini had a problem. A very, very, drastic problem. Because when the Sharks nutritionist suggested he hire a private chef to cook for him, he hadn’t expected you.
One almost kitchen fire at the SAP center left him with the chirps of a lifetime and a suggestion for someone to help him out. But in his defense, Macklin hadn't realized that the burner was still hot when he set the oven mitt down on it. So, could people really blame him? Apparently so.
And at first, he had protested the idea, arguing that he was more than capable of making sure he ate healthy enough and made quality food. But unfortunately, his track record with cooking wasn't good enough. So, with enough bribing from his agent, he finally caved and let him take care of it. Assuming that you would be an old man that was grumpy and didn't enjoy anything other than his paydays.
But he quickly found out he was wrong. So very wrong.
Because when you knocked on his door for the first time, his entire world shifted on its axis. You were older than him, freshly graduated from school. And from what his agent said, you had worked with a few professional athletes before.
“Hi, Macklin? I’m y/n.” You said, and his mind went blank when you spoke. His brain stuttered, forgetting everything he was going to say.
“Hi,” He paused awkwardly. “Sorry—yeah, that's me. Come in.” He stepped aside, letting you walk into his apartment. Mentally cursing himself for sounding so rude. He was awkward, he knew that. A twenty year old hockey player who, besides around other players, never had many social interactions.
He awkwardly stuttered his way through more small talk before leaving you in the kitchen, with the promise to help as much as he could if you needed anything. Quickly, his apartment smelled like a five star high-end restaurant in downtown San Jose. And the aroma of whatever you were cooking had him practically drooling.
Macklin spent the next hour of you making dinner figuring out a way to start a conversation with you. And by the time you had told him it was done, he still had nothing.
“This looks incredible. Thank you.” He said, sending you a smile.
You smiled. “The dishes are all done and put away. What time would you like me here tomorrow?” You asked, and Mack felt a twinge of disappointment that you were leaving.
“You’re not going to eat?” He asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
You let out a small smile at his face. “No.”
Right, Mack thought. This was your job, nothing else.
“Oh.” He paused, before plastering on a fake smile. “Probably around the same time if that's okay?”
“That sounds good. See you tomorrow." You said, sending him a small smile as you walked towards the door.
“See you tomorrow.” he said softly.
***
These short interactions had been going on for months, and they were killing Macklin. He felt like a high schooler again—especially with how often you turned him on by simply doing your job. But he decided to blame that on the fact he hadn't gotten laid in months. Just yesterday, you were making dinner for him, and Macklin had to force himself to think of workouts, his family, and hockey stats just to not imagine how your lips would feel wrapped around his cock.
You were cool, calm, and professional. And Macklin hated it. He wanted nothing more than to simply get a reaction out of you. There was more than one time that he knew you were coming over, so he made sure he was wearing the shirt he knew hugged his biceps well, or the shorts that rode up a bit too much when he sat down.
None of that even phased you, and it drove him wild.
So he did the most obvious thing—he went to his brother for advice. Obviously, he didn't mention his pent up sexual frustration to him. But he picked Aidan's brain with other things.
“She's just so—I don't know, she's just so sweet but unphased about everything I do, and it bothers me.” He complained. “I feel like a school kid again with this crush.”
“Well,” Aidan said. “Maybe that's a good thing.”
“How?” He cried.
“Keeps you on your toes. Gives you something to work for.”
“I’m not following.” He said bluntly.
“If you really want her, you need to work for it. Show her you're serious, responsible, trustworthy. Get to know her. Start simple, go easy. It's not rocket science, you're just down bad.” He explained. “Do you even know if she's single?”
“No, but I don't think she's got a boyfriend.” Mack said.
‘Start there then.” Aidan suggested.
“Okay, yeah I can do that. Thanks Aidan.”
“Yeah, of course. I hope it works out for you.” He told him.
Macklin muttered a thanks before bidding him farewell and hanging up. The silence soon settled in his apartment. A silence that he wished was filled with you, he wanted you to be there with him—not just to make him food because he was too busy to figure it out himself. He wanted you to dance in the kitchen with him at midnight, or hold him after a bad game, whispering sweet nothings so he didn't get into his own head. He wanted you to kiss him breathless. He wanted you to go to his games, cheering from the family room when he scored.
He just wanted you.
There, at exactly 3:47 PM Macklin made himself a promise. He was going to show you that he was more than an idiot hockey player who couldn't cook a steak to save his life.
***
When you showed up to his apartment, Macklin had already cleaned it twice in two hours. Not that you would ever find that out, though. You had the same routine there for months. Knock on his door, make your way to his kitchen, cook dinner, clean, and leave before Macklin could utter a single word after thank you. Some days, you were there longer. (Exactly two and a half hours, not that Macklin was counting though) Prepping his lunches for after practices so that all he had to do was heat it up.
“Do you,” He hesitated, standing nervously at the entrance to his kitchen. “Do you want to stay for dinner tonight? I mean—you don’t have to, I just figured I’d offer and…” He trailed off, voice getting significantly smaller.
You sighed, setting down the carrot you had been peeling. “Macklin, I’m really not supposed to do that.” You weren't dumb, you had seen the advances Macklin had tried making on you, but you never really gave him the time of day before.
“Why? It’s not like we're doing anything wrong.” He remarked. “Unless you have a boyfriend or something.”
You shook your head. “No, no I don't have a boyfriend.”
Macklin had to bite back the grin forming.
“Well then what's the issue?” He asked softly.
“It's inappropriate. I can't do that, I’m working.” You weren’t sure if you were reminding him or yourself.
“Okay.” He nodded. “Then come over for lunch tomorrow? If you wanna leave at any point you can, but can we try?” He pleaded. “Please?” He added as an afterthought.
You looked at him. His gaze was unwavering, his cheeks were flushed, and you suddenly realised the way he had been staring at you for the past few months wasn't just your imagination.
You're not really sure why you agreed. The whole ordeal was the exact thing you had told yourself not to do when you had first got this job. “Fine,” You found yourself saying. “I’ll be over at one. Sound good?”
He nodded, grinning ear to ear. “Yeah, sounds great.”
****
“Yeah—oh fuck, just like that.” He whimpered, hand threading through your hair as your tongue flicked out, licking a stripe down the prominent vein on the underside of his cock.
His breathing was ragged, pupils blown wide with desire. He finally had what he was desperately craving. You were on your knees, staring up at him through your lashes, cheeks flushed and tears forming in the corners of your eyes. Macklin had never seen a more beautiful sight. And he wanted the image to be engraved in his brain for the rest of time.
Your lips wrapped around him, cheeks hollowing as you took him down your throat. One hand coming up to work what you couldn't fit in your mouth, while the other had a hold on his muscular thigh. Nails digging into the muscle to keep him from moving. You maintained your eye contact as you started bobbing your head up and down and he shuddered—a full body tremor that he couldn't suppress.
“Fuck, I’m close.” He moaned softly, head tilted back, chest heaving.
You hummed around him, speeding up your pace, giving his thigh a squeeze.
“Oh fuck.” He groaned, eyes squeezed shut. “Oh—Oh fuck.”
Bzzz
Bzzz
Bzzz
Mack gasped, eyes shooting open at the sound of his alarm. “Fuck.” He groaned, scrubbing a hand down his face. This was not the first time he had a dream like that, and it certainly wouldn't be his last. He was painfully hard. So turned on by the thought of you on your knees for him that the thought of going to practice immediately pissed him off. But the reminder of you coming over later was enough of a motivator for him to get up and take a cold shower.
***
“Hi.” Macklin smiled, stepping aside to let you into his apartment. “I…uh, I attempted to make food but it burnt.” He laughed awkwardly, cheeks pink. “So I figured we could order chipper or something? I hope that's okay.”
You laughed, following him into the living room. “Really?” You raised a brow. “What did you burn?”
He flushed even more, grimacing when he told you, “I tried to make pasta and chicken.”
He sat down on the couch, gesturing for you to do the same.
“Oh Macklin.” You tsked, settling down on the couch a respectable distance away.
He laughed softly. “Wanna watch something?”
“Sure.” You told him, trying to ignore how his arms flexed when he grabbed the remote. Or how his fingers pushed the buttons. The image of them pumping in and out of you flashed through your mind. And you had to take a deep breath to control your thoughts.
The TV started to play mindlessly. A random romcom Mack had turned on from Netflix. You exchanged small talk with each other. Talking about a new tiktok his best friend Will had them make.
The tension simmering in the apartment was thick enough to cut with a knife. It was undeniable the way Macklin was staring at you as he talked, his gaze steady. His legs were spread, and he was wearing shorts that left little covered with how they rode up his muscular thighs when he sat down.
Your breath hitched as he stood up and stretched, trying to ignore the very prominent v-line that appeared when his shirt rode up. He grinned slightly, noticing your reaction. “I’ll be right back.”
You nodded, watching as he walked down the hall, disappearing for a minute before coming back. You definitely didn't miss the blush coating his cheeks when he sat back down, closer to you than before.
You sat there for a bit longer, trying to focus on the movie and ignore the way Macklin kept subtly shifting towards you. You saw him open and close his mouth, brows furrowed as he suddenly looked at you.
“Are you okay?” You asked, finally glancing at him.
He paused. Taking a deep breath.
“Can I kiss you?” he whispered, voice soft and filled with nerves.
Your brain short-circuited, going blank as you tried to think of the morally right thing to say. That all disappeared when you saw the vulnerability in his features, eyes darting across your face nervously.
“Please.” You found yourself saying, your hand coming up to cup the back of his head, pulling him closer. Macklin didn't waste any time, his lips meeting yours, soft at first. His hand coming up to cup your jaw gently.
You pulled back for a moment, gasping for breath. You both opened your eyes, making quick eye contact before your lips crashed together. Your teeth grazed his bottom lip and he gasped, you used that to your advantage, slipping your tongue in his mouth. He let out a soft whimper, hands guiding you onto his lap.
When you sat down, you felt the already hard line of his cock straining against his shorts. A whimper escaped both your lips as you tentatively grinded down, hips rocking in a slow rhythm. “Fuck.” He gasped, voice already wreaked.
“Is this okay?” You asked against his lips, grinding your hips down again. He nodded against your face, hips rutting up in desperation.
“Yes, yes—fuck.” He whimpered. You kissed his jaw, peppering his neck with little bites—not enough to hurt, but enough to leave him gasping beneath you.
His hands found their way under your hoodie, exploring your body. “Can I?” He whispered, thumb rubbing against your skin. You nodded against his neck, helping him take off your hoodie, leaving you in just your bra and shorts. “Fuck.” He said, eyes scanning your body. “You’re so beautiful.” His hand snaked around your back, unhooking your bra with ease.
His thumb and index finger came up to your breast, pinching your nipple. You felt heat pool in your lower body. “Mack.” You whimpered, suddenly not caring about anything other than your animalistic need for him. “Need you.”
He groaned, flipping you over in one clean motion, pinning you beneath him. The position was awkward at first, the couch limited on space. But neither of you cared, mouths connecting in another passionate kiss. He made quick work of removing his shirt, before latching his lips onto the sensitive skin under your jaw. You knew there would be a mark there later, but you didn't bother stopping him. Too absorbed in the heat of the moment to care—especially with the little whimpers he was making while he was sucking on your skin.
His hand toyed with the hem of your shorts. “Is this okay?” He asked, and you nodded, shimmying out of your shorts. “Fuck.” He breathed, lips ghosting your collarbone. “I’ve wanted this for months.”
“Show me.” You told him, running your nails across the hard plains of his abs until you got to the waistband of his shorts. “Off.”
You felt Macklin grin against your neck, pulling both his shorts and boxers off in one quick motion. He climbed off you suddenly, grabbing his wallet from the coffee table, and pulling out a condom. You laughed slightly. “Prepared, huh?”
He nodded, cheeks bright red as he positioned himself back on top of you. His hand came down, middle finger ghosting over your clothed clit. You gasped, arching into the touch. His finger barely ghosted you, and you already felt a heat spread throughout your body. That same finger came up to the hem of your panties, pulling them off quickly. While his mouth found your nipple, teeth grazing it slightly before his tongue soothed it.
His finger came back down, running through your folds. “Oh fuck.” He groaned. “You’re so wet for me.” He slid his finger inside you suddenly, curling it up into the spot that knocked the breath out of your lungs. He set a quick pace, thumb circling your clit as his finger pumped in and out of you.
You moaned. “Please, I need you.” You trailed your nails down his back, and he groaned, pulling his hand away. Reaching for the condom and opening it, he slid it on before lining himself up with your entrance.
“Ready?” He asked and you nodded. He rubbed his length between your folds, collecting the wetness, before sliding in. You both moaned when he bottomed out. The stretch of him inside you nearly sent you over the edge before he even started moving.
Macklin started moving, setting a slow and deep pace that had him hitting the gummy spot inside of you with each thrust. You wrapped your legs around him, pulling him closer against you as you pulled his face down to kiss you.
“Been thinking about this so much.” He admitted, voice strained. “Thought about you taking my cock like this.” You moaned, clenching around him at his words. “You’re taking me so good.” He kissed your forehead. “Such a good girl.”
His words combined with the feeling of him thrusting in and out of you made the pressure build up in your lower stomach unbelievably fast. “Mack—I’m close.”
His hand came down again, finger finding your clit and rubbing circles, circling it with the pace of his thrusts. “C’mon.” He said. “Let go for me.” He picked up the pace of his thrusts. The sound of skin slapping against skin echoed as your orgasm washed over you. Leaving you gasping and withering under him as you cried out his name into the empty apartment. Macklin followed right after with a choked whimper, burying himself as deep as possible as he rode out his own release.
He pulled out, collapsing next to you, breathing heavily as he caught his breath. He pulled you closer to him, hand coming up to rub your back soothingly. “You okay?” He asked, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
You nodded, laying your head down on his chest. “Yeah—yeah, I’m good.” You opened your eyes to see Macklin already looking at you, relief evident on his face. His hair was sticking up wildly and you smiled, bringing your hand up to run your fingers through it.
You both laid there together, Macklin's chest rising and falling beneath you. His hand brushed a stray piece of hair from your face, thumb rubbing your cheek. After a few minutes, he spoke again. “So… wanna order that chipper now?”
You let out a breathless laugh, sitting up. “Yeah. Sounds good.”

Series masterlist
Summary: Hours after you mistake him for a pga store employee, you’re going out to dinner with none other than Connor Bedard. But how do you explain to him that your brother is one of the best players in the league?
Warnings: nothing that I can really think of, the writing is kind of all over the place, lowkey cringe but it’s alright, not proofread
authors note: wow this was incredibly hard to write for some reason so sorry about that 😖 idk why I struggled with it but whew golly that was a pain to finish
The neon exit sign glowed above your head as you waited for Connor to emerge from the showers. You were honestly surprised with your actions today. Usually you weren't bold enough to ask out pretty boys at the pga store. But, here you were, about to go out to dinner with Connor Bedard, who you had only just met that morning.
Your phone buzzed with another text from Connor—a simple, I'll be out in a few. You let out a breath, smoothing the nonexistent wrinkles on your blouse as you opened your camera, checking your makeup and hair. Your car was only a short distance from the exit. But thankfully, it wasn't where the players and coaching staff parked. So the chances of seeing Cale were extremely low.
You felt like a high schooler again sneaking behind your brother's back, but you had no interest in telling Cale who you were hanging out with tonight. He was one of the biggest worriers you knew. Unfortunately, he also couldn't keep a secret and if he saw you with Connor tonight, the whole league would know within 48 hours.
Suddenly, Connor appeared from down the hall. “Hey.” He greeted, voice soft as he walked up to you. His hair was still damp at the ends from the shower. When he got closer, you caught the scent of his cologne, and warmth spread across your cheeks instantly.
“Hey, you played good out there tonight.” You told him, smiling softly. The nerves you had been feeling up until this moment lessened when he smiled at the compliment.
“I’m sorry I didn't tell you who I was when I got your number. I just–” He started, voice carrying his regret.
You stopped the apology, shaking your head. “Connor, it's fine, really.”
“Are you sure? I don't wanna ruin this before it even starts.” he said, guilt flashing across his features.
“I’m not upset about it. I understand.” You assured him. Taking a deep breath, you added, “and plus, I wasn't really telling you everything either.”
He hesitated slightly. “What do you mean?”
“Well,” You started, choosing your words carefully. Your mind racing with the easiest way to tell him that he had just played against your brother. “My brothers are hockey player too.”
“Oh, so you did know who I was?” He asked.
You laughed, hands trembling slightly from nerves. “No. I really only follow their teams.”
“Who are they? Maybe I know them.” He smiled.
You mentally face-palmed. You were making it more confusing than it had to be. But there was no backing out now.
“You definitely know one of them, for sure.” You agreed, nodding your head towards the door. You honestly weren't sure if Cale had already left or not, cursing him for leaving the life360 group with you when he got a new phone.
“Whats his name?” He asked, walking beside you out into the cold Denver air.
“Cale.” You simply replied, busying yourself with digging for your keys. There really wasn't a guidebook to telling people that your brother was arguably one of the best defenseman in the league.
He slowed his pace, the gears in his head working overtime to figure out what you were hinting at. “Cale?” He repeated.
“Yeah.” You nodded, pursing your lips. Finally working up the courage to look at him.
“Cale as in… Cale Makar?” Connor asked slowly, his mouth falling open slightly.
“Yes.” You confirmed, flashing him a smile that was more of a grimace. His face quickly morphed from confusion to shock. You could practically see the questions forming.
“Like,” He paused again. “The same Cale that I just played against?”
“Yes, he's my older brother.”
His eyes went wide, absorbing the information. “Wow.” He finally said.
Truthfully, he was taking it better than most. The last guy you had told outwardly laughed in your face and said that lying was a sin. So you did what anyone would do—you made Cale record a video with you and send it to him. The guy had tried to apologize. You blocked him.
“Can you say something other than wow, please?” You asked.
He laughed slightly. “Thats crazy.” He said instead.
“Connor, that's not better!” You groaned, throwing your arms up.
“What? It doesn't change anything.” He simply shrugged, opening your car door for you.
“What do you mean?” You asked, getting in the car and glancing up at him.
“I still wanna take a pretty girl out to dinner. I don't care who her brothers are. Even if one just whooped my ass” He said, leaning against the door.
A grin spread across your face, and you suddenly felt ridiculously happy. “Yeah? You really mean that?”
“Of course I do.” He said honestly, his gaze never wavering.
You looked at him. Like, really looked at him. There was no hesitation in his features. He was confident in a way that drove you absolutely feral. There was no performance or mask to him, he was just undoubtedly him.
“Thank you.” You finally said.
“For what?” His brows furrowed in confusion.
“For not running the opposite direction after you found out my last name.” You told him honestly, fiddling with the bracelet you had on.
“Have people actually done that to you?”
“Yeah, usually because they think I’m lying.” You shrugged.
“Thats their loss.” He told you, stepping back to close your door. “Ready to go to dinner and I can officially get to know you?” He asked with a teasing grin.
Connor was different from other guys you had liked in the past—even if you had only met him today. He had been nothing but sweet to you. And for the first time in a while, you wondered what it would feel like to let someone in.
You let out a small laugh, a newfound excitement flowing through your veins. “Sounds like a good plan.”
