This is a blog that will chronicle my attempt at learning how to draw. I have never tried nor have I wanted to draw until I just felt like I couldn't express my creativity in the way that I see fit. I want this to change. And with lots of practice, I'm gonna make it change. Wish me luck.

Told to draw my shoes looking at them head on. Drawing with your eyes and getting past the use of symbols in your head is not going to be easy. Doing that method made me feel like I didn’t know what was gonna happen until the very end. It was neat seeing it all come together though. The odd shading is because I just could not do the knots justice.

My first drawing. It’s me! It’s the first exercise in Betty Edward’s “Drawing from the right side of the brain”. I switched to “Keys to Drawing” by Bert Dodson to avoid the weird right brain stuff but I like this exercise as a gauge of my progress. I am reassured that the only thing I can sort of draw is eyes and maybe I can do a little shadowing. I’ve got a long ways to go.
