Ok, but hear me out: regardless of how true (believing makes it real, if it isn’t already right?) it is, but the Black Pearl, she likes Jack. Jack is her favorite person, but she has taken a shine to others and also the opposite. She’ll let you know (but Jack will most likely have to translate for her) whether you are a likes you or doesn’t.
Jack? Her favorite, of course. She loves adventure and what is Captain Jack Sparrow than adventure made human? Jack was made for her as much as she was made for him.
Gibbs? She likes him probably the most out of the crew. Jack is adventure, but Gibbs is safety. Gibbs will do his best to protect Jack when she can’t, which is to say, on land. He’s not always the best at it, but she’ll forgive him there, Jack is a handful that no one, but herself can truly handle.
Anamaria? ADORES her! She’s not as adventurous as Jack, but she has the brain cells of this ship and she has different types of adventures to Jack. If Jack were to not Captain her, Anamaria would be a close second (not that The Pearl wouldn’t go down with her Captain, but it’s the sentiment of it all to let it be known, regardless)
Barbossa? He’s alright. Treats her better than most, but more piratey than she’d like. She likes adventure for adventures sake and commuting the occasional crime is exciting, but this man somehow finds a way to be dull about it without Jack around to live it up, in her not so humble opinion.
Will? He’s a good boy™️ with good taste, she approves. For a man who was “not a pirate”, he brings many adventures with him and makes Jack happier. While not necessarily Captain material, he will always be welcome aboard her decks as having him in any capacity will be beneficial to all crew members.
Elizabeth? If there was ever a woman made more for piracy, The Pearl would love to meet her. Should anything happen to Jack (which never without her, but still) Elizabeth and Anamaria would be the foremost for Captain and first mate. Maybe a bit of both? Co-Captains? If there ever existed two humans who could make a duo of pirate queens (and/or kings) actually Work, it would be them and what better honor than to sail the Black Pearl?
Those two? What’s there names, Pintel & Ragetti? While they are welcome, in the loosest sense of the word, they are not necessarily what she would consider Pearl material without Jack to bring out the best of them (altho that Pintel likes to speak to her as tho she’s not just any old ship, recalls poetry and tries to read to her as best he can, so she would be inclined to keep them on regardless, even that Ragetti if it makes him happy. Jack may be her favorite, but Pintel is like her son? Or some sort of wayward puppy? Regardless, she likes him. Don’t tell Jack, he’ll be terribly jealous over nothing, the fool)
Davy Jones? No. The Dutchman is....wrong. While the Pearl may or may not have collected magics over the years, that thing was Made to be wrong. It’s not a ship, it’s-it’s not right. The Pearl, is of course a unique gem in a sea of ships, but that? It’s not like her but also more than any other ship. She hates that ship and what it does to its crew. Davy Jones may not deserve his fate, but she prefers he stay away, that isn’t the adventure she wants for her or for Jack (or any others).
Calypso? Hm. She is the ocean. She is not the Pearl’s mother in the sense of creating her, but she Something that gives her the ability to Be. Maybe not to be what is different than most ships-like her and the Dutchman- but the ability to be a ship for Jack, to take him across the globe, to newbiggerbetter adventures! But also, Calypso on board makes for an interesting power imbalance. Not to say she would voice this to her (not even Jack, unless he were to ask her directly (thankfully he never has)) but it’s. Different, in a way that makes her uncomfortable. She is beauty and danger and adventure. While Jack is adventure made human, Calypso is adventure itself.
Pearl will tell this to Jack when it’s late and night and he can’t sleep, to soothe him or to entertain in his darker moods. Most of them Jack expects, they are the face on the same coin, they are Captain of the Black Pearl, he and she. But the one Jack refuses to agree with, regardless of sound logic is that of, is James Norrington (Commodore James Norrington). While she and he are the same side, James is the other.
That man-Commodore James Norrington- has eyes with the sea in them. And those eyes always seem to find you, Jack. This man accomplished so much in so little time, has gone to the ends of the earth for what he believes in, loves the sea more than anything. A man who wants what he wants and will go to the ends of the earth, stare Davy Jones defiantly in the face, to prove that he is who is. No more, no less. The best swordsman of the sea, a strategic man who plans everything, a man with terrible luck. Jack’s opposite, his foil, his other half.
(Jack doesn’t Get It, claims she’s not perfect, as though he himself isn’t being selectively blind! She loves her Captain more than anything, even if he isn’t perfect)
