(This contains the first POV switch between Gaia and Noctis, and I've indicated when it switches between them ^^)
When Noctis, Gaia and the others made it to the Disc of Cauthess, the group got split into two. While Ignis, Prompto and Gaia search for a way down, Noctis and Gladio must defend themselves from the Archaean's wrath...
“Well, I don’t think jumping down there is a good idea,” I sighed. “So, how are we going to get down there?”
Prompto nodded as we began looking for a safer route to reunite with Noctis and Gladio. “Gotta be another way. Hopefully Noct’s okay.”
“I can’t see Titan being happy about visitors,” Ignis muttered, his voice heavy with concern. That didn’t bode well at all. I was worried before, but now it is even more worrying.
“We’d better get down there soon, then.” Prompto agreed as he ran ahead of us a bit. We had to press forward. I couldn’t stop thinking about how Noctis and Gladio were doing, but we needed to find our way down first.
Noctis’ POV
The heat was overwhelming, and I felt like I was coated in sweat. It didn’t help that Titan was extremely pissed off. If this was how he greeted me, I couldn’t imagine how he’d respond to intruders.
“I’m sick of this endless walking,” I groaned, doubling over to catch my breath. Suddenly, I felt Gladio shove my shoulder. I stumbled a bit, and he grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled me up.
“And I’m sick of your endless whining. Calm the hell down,” He snapped and got in my face. His jaw was clenched in anger.
I tried to pull away from him to no avail. “Get off my back,” I muttered with another pull.
“Are you a man of royal blood, or aren’t you?” His grip on my shirt only tightened. I finally was able to shove him away, stumbling back a bit.
“Of course I am,” I scoffed. “Couldn’t forget it if I tried! What about it?” He had to bring it up.
“I ain’t saying that you’ve forgotten, but you gotta know something,” Gladio huffed as he began walking ahead. “You’re not the only one who’s having a tough time. We’re all on edge.”
He continued speaking, turning to face me over his shoulder. His tone was much calmer. “We Amicitia are the king’s sworn shields. Guard the king with our lives. That’s the way it’s always been. I’ve embraced my duty, and I take pride in it. When you can’t focus, I focus for you. It’s my job, so let me do it, alright?”
I looked down at the ground for a moment. I needed to collect my own thoughts. “Alright,” I muttered as I began following him on the narrow path ahead of us.
“Sorry, but I had to get it out. And remember, don’t rush ahead on your own.” He added, keeping his pace slightly ahead of me.
“Hey, Gladio,” I began. I paused for a moment, trying to think of how to say it. “Your dad… I’m grateful to him.”
He shrugged in response. “Just doing his job,” he answered, but he nodded in appreciation. A noise cut through the silent air. My ringtone.
I scrambled to grab it from my pocket as Gladio asked if it was my phone ringing. I looked down at the screen and answered quickly. “Ignis.”
The reception was shit, no doubt due to our surroundings. There was a lot of static, but I could still make out what he was saying. “You’re safe, good. Listen, imperial troops are near-” Ignis’ voice was cut off when the call suddenly dropped. I glanced up just in time to catch a few of the imperial dropships we had seen several times over by now just ahead.
“Got cut off,” I muttered as I shoved my phone back into my pocket and looked over at Gladio. “But it sounds like we’re about to have imperial company.”
Gladio let out an annoyed grunt as we continued walking. “About to get even hotter in here.” We broke into a sprint as we reached another outcropping. Waiting for us were a few magitek swordsmen and imperial infantrymen. I readied my sword, warping ahead and cutting down one of the magiteks. Gladio was quick on the attack as well, bringing his greatsword down quickly against the other foes.
After finishing off the small group that seemed to be waiting for us, I approached Titan. “Hey! I’m here!” I yelled. The god spoke, the language something I couldn’t even begin to make out. Another headache set in, and I clutched my head in my hands. “What the hell is it you want? Quit screwing with my head!” I snapped. By the time I was able to right myself again and stand up, I was looking right at Titan’s fist. “You’ve gotta be kidding me.”
I found myself in yet another freefall, the ground having broken away with the god’s punch. I summoned my sword again and quickly threw it to the ground below. I managed to warp close to the ground.
“Noct!” Gladio yelled, shoving me out of the way of yet another attack. “Are you alright?”
I pushed myself back up, catching my breath after having the wind knocked out of me. “I owe you one.”
“This ain’t gonna work, we gotta run.”
He didn’t have to tell me twice. I took off running, following an uphill path that was nearby. “Best advice you’ve given all day!” I called back to him. He quickly passed me, readying a shield and blocking more of Titan’s punches.
“Well, I can’t have you dying here! Come on!” He yelled. We continued running until we reached a dead end, or so it seemed from first glance. There was a ledge to my right, but I couldn’t reach it on my own. Gladio was on it, kneeling down and motioning for me to get over there. He pushed me up, and I scrambled to my feet again.
“Damn it,” I muttered, turning around to see Gladio pull himself up. Titan slammed his hand against the ground. He was planning to tear the ground from under us yet again. “He just won’t quit!” I groaned as I started running again. This wasn’t how I'd hoped my day would go.
Gladio summoned his greatsword again as we came to another cliff. He blocked Titan. “I’ll hold him! Get clear!” He ordered through clenched teeth. I looked down at the drop and then back at my friend.
“Gladio!” I began, but he cut me off.
“Hurry! I can’t keep this up!” He yelled. I backed up before turning to look down the cliff again. I took a deep breath. I warped down to the open area below, now faced with the realization I would have to deal with Titan all on my own.
With a yell, I readied the new royal arm I acquired. It was a large sword, something I needed to use with both hands. Every time he brought his fist down, I countered. It took almost all of my strength. Titan spoke again, but I still couldn’t understand his words. “I’m not gonna take any more of this crap,” I muttered. One more block seemed to stun him, his hand dropping to the ground. I took the chance and quickly switched to the engine blade, beginning to attack wildly. Where were Ignis, Prompto, and Gaia?
Gaia’s POV
I waved over to Noctis as we finally found our way to him. Ignis was right; Titan was livid. Prompto immediately ran over to his friend’s side. “Did you miss us?” He asked with a laugh, readying his pistol and taking aim. Given the limited range of swords and daggers, Prompto seemed the best off while Ignis, Noctis, and I were stuck waiting. Whenever Titan would lower his hand, we would attack. I kept my guard up, eyes darting around at our surroundings.
Imperial dropships were nearby, no doubt containing more magiteks. Prompto noticed it as well, letting out a nervous laugh. “Think those imperial soldiers just wanna say ‘hi’?”
I sighed and readied my sword again as Titan was once again in range for me to attack. My body felt tense, but I tried to keep myself focused on the task at hand. “Got a lot of spearmen, what are they planning?” I half-asked, half-yelled. Why would Niflheim want to attack a god?
Gladio arrived with perfect timing, slamming his greatsword down onto Titan’s hand. “Are we alright?” he asked, looking over at Noctis with a smirk.
“Getting by,” Noctis responded, his tone remarkably casual given the situation we were in. It was almost admirable.
I moved my attention over to the magiteks that tried to approach, switching from axe to sword and back again. I refused to let them get any closer. Noctis and the others had Titan under control, at least for now, so I could afford to take out any other threats. It was quickly getting overwhelming. I kicked away one of the magiteks that got too close to Noctis, hissing in pain. “Fuck, that hurt!” I didn’t even know why I thought that was a good idea.
“Keep it together!” Gladio yelled. He could clearly tell that we were all starting to falter. The battle was starting to get old. It seemed Ignis had an idea, however. He motioned for Prompto, Gladio, and me to group up with him. He handed each of us a flask of magic. The metal felt cold in my hands, a faint blue glow emanating from it. Ice magic? It wasn’t long before Titan’s defense wavered again. That was our sign.
“The game’s up!” Ignis threw his flask with a yell, and Gladio followed suit. Prompto and I glanced at each other, exchanging grins. I adjusted my sunglasses, then we both threw our flasks.
“You’re out!” Prompto laughed as he dusted his hands off. The containers of ice magic quickly collided with Titan’s arm and froze it solid.
I stifled a small snort of a laugh by covering my mouth. “Time to chill,” I muttered. Prompto laughed again, Gladio rolling his eyes in response. Noctis readied the royal arm that he had just picked up a moment ago. He slammed it down with a roar-like yell.
“It’s over!” He panted, watching the Archaean’s frozen arm shatter and crumble. Frost settled around us, a thin layer dusting our outfits as we stopped to catch our breath. The slight chill felt nice compared to our hot, humid surroundings, but it quickly melted away. So much for some cold relief. Noctis looked over at us and returned the sword to the Armiger. “We all still here?”
Gladio nodded and brushed himself off. “Yep, still here,” he confirmed.
“If a little battered,” Ignis added as he adjusted his glasses carefully. I crouched down and rested my hands on my knees. I felt drained. Had I known that we were going to fight one of the Six, I would have tried to get more rest.
Prompto seemed just as exhausted as I was. “Does this mean it’s over?” he asked, his voice wavering slightly and showing his fatigue. There was a moment when we finally collected ourselves, before, with timing that felt horribly comedic, the ground shook yet again. Another earthquake, just our luck. Noctis let out a startled yelp, causing me to scramble back to my feet.
“What is it now?” He yelled, glaring up at Titan. The Archaean still seemed hostile and ready to attack. I summoned my axe and held it tight in my left hand, grateful for the thin layer of leather of my glove muffling the sound of metal against metal. Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio all yelled something, but in my focus, their words were just a blur.
Instead of attacking, Titan spoke for a moment. The language of the gods may as well have been gibberish. A faint yellow glow seemed to surround him and Noctis, who had knelt on the ground. I could only presume he had another headache due to Titan’s words. “That was…” Noctis mumbled as he looked up at Titan. “Luna. You spoke with her? That’s why…”
He was cut off by another tremor that caused us all to stumble. With a blast of light, the imperial airships that hovered above us were thrown from the sky and crashed into the ground. Titan vanished afterward.
***
It was a struggle to find our way back up. It was horrible, in fact. Lava was bursting from the ground around us. “It doesn’t get much worse than this,” Gladio muttered with a huff, stopping to look around for our next move. As if on cue to challenge him, an imperial airship lowered itself into view. I glared at him.
“You just had to say that,” I groaned with a shake of my head. It really was just our luck.
Ignis glared up at the airship, his body tense. “The empire!” He yelled. “Now?”
The hatch of the airship opened, revealing a lone figure. A man waiting for us… Ardyn.
“Fancy meeting you here!” Ardyn yelled over the sound of the engine. “It occurs to me I never formally introduced myself!” We all exchanged confused glances. He didn’t seem to pay it any mind as he continued talking. “Izunia. Ardyn Izunia!” He put a hand over his chest, the movement almost like a flourish. It was almost as if he were trying to make this as dramatic as possible.
“Imperial Chancellor Izunia?” Ignis asked incredulously. I scolded myself mentally for not recognizing him. How did I miss that?
“At your service!” Ardyn held his arms out dramatically. If he weren’t the Chancellor, he would make an amazing theater actor. “And more importantly, to your aid!” He seemed to pick up on our suspicions and hesitance. “I can guarantee your safe passage. Though you’re always welcome to take your chances down there. Buried among the rubble, is it?”
Noctis turned to look at Ignis, silently asking for advice. Ignis sighed. “Dying here is not an option. We have no choice, Noct,” he advised. He seemed resigned to the idea.
“I know,” Noctis grumbled in annoyance. We boarded the airship. The cold familiarity of our timely new transport unsettled me. I never wanted to be back inside a dropship. I took a deep breath to calm myself and joined Prompto and Noctis in sitting on the metal floor. I dug my journal out from my pocket and quietly jotted down my thoughts. Just what did the Imperial Chancellor want in return for helping us?
Gaia, Noctis, and the others found themselves face-to-face with a person who seemed all too comfortable and familiar. Faced with no other way to solve Noctis' mysterious headaches, they reluctantly follow the stranger...
I may not have been in the area long, but even I knew how warm it was, yet the man in front of us was wearing a long coat with a few layers underneath. He turned to face us, a smile crossing his lips as he regarded Noctis and the others as if they were familiar to him. Underneath his fedora, his red-violet hair was a bit messy, but not exactly disheveled. “What a coincidence!” He greeted us with a wave.
“I’m not so sure it is,” Gladio muttered as he kept close to Noctis. His voice said it all, they had seen him before. The man seemed to ignore the hostility in Gladio’s tone, instead approaching us casually.
He tilted his head slightly to the side. “Aren’t nursery rhymes curious things?” He asked us. Before even letting us answer, he continued. “Like this one: ‘From the deep the Archaean calls. Yet on deaf ears, the god’s tongue falls. The king made to kneel, in pain, he crawls.’”
I clenched my jaw slightly, my eyebrows furrowed. The Archaean? One of the Six? This doesn’t make any sense. Prompto was the first one to speak up. “So, how do we keep him on his feet?” He asked the stranger.
“You need only heed the call. Visit the Archaean and hear his plea,” the man responded as he began walking away. He seemed to pause for dramatic effect before turning to face us once he was a few steps away. “I can take you.”
We were huddled up, lowering our voices to hushed whispers as we discussed our options. “We in?” Gladio asked first.
Noctis shook his head. “I don’t know.”
“We take a ride,” Prompto began.
“But we watch our backs,” Gladio added. Ignis and I nodded. Noctis turned to face the man and nodded. We followed the stranger to the parking area.
“I’m not one to stand on ceremony, but such an occasion calls for an introduction! Please, call me Ardyn,” He introduced himself. His dramatic tone of speaking was certainly interesting. I grabbed my journal carefully again, trying to be subtle as I wrote down my thoughts. He continued talking as if we weren’t silent. “Come with me to the car park, that’s where I left my automobile. She’s a dear old thing. Pales in comparison to your Regalia, but she’s never let me down.”
He led us to a car parked near the Regalia. A sleek red convertible, an older model, yes, but it was much more akin to every other car I had seen on the roads. It wasn’t old at all, at least, not to me. “So, we take two vehicles. A convoy, of sorts. Shall we?” He asked to no one in particular. He looked over at Noctis, the smile still on his stubbled face. “Allow me to do the honor of designating your driver. I choose you.”
Noctis crossed his arms. “What if I drive your car?” He asked, clearly a sarcastic joke.
Ardyn put a hand on his hip. He didn’t seem to find the humor in Noctis’s comment. “You might find the rental fees more than you bargained for. You drive your car, and I drive mine.” He turned to get into his car, a sign that we should do the same with the Regalia. “With that being said, let us be off.”
We let him lead the way out of Lestallum. It felt strange having Noctis behind the wheel. I glanced over at Ignis, who was sitting in Noctis’ spot instead, and he seemed nervous. It didn’t take a genius to know that Ignis preferred to be the driver.
“First Galdin and then Lestallum,” Prompto mused. “What a coincidence, huh?” He leaned out of where the window would be if the roof of the Regalia were up. I pulled myself up so I was sitting with my feet on the backseat, the wind blowing my hair. I wanted to give Ignis and Gladio as much legroom as I could. I was careful not to sit where the roof folded down. The last thing I’d need is to damage that.
“Way too convenient to be a coincidence,” Gladio countered. “I reckon he’s following us.” He grabbed a book from the floor in front of him. I couldn’t help but look over at the cover.
My curiosity was piqued. “Galdin? As in Galdin Quay?” I asked, leaning forward slightly to hear them better over the breeze. “He’s just been following you?”
Noctis nodded from behind the wheel. Ignis spoke up next. “But to what end? That question bothers me deeply, as does his origin.”
“It’s hard for me to picture that guy in the Empire,” Prompto shrugged. He grabbed his camera and snapped a few pictures. He turned around in his seat and motioned for me to look. I awkwardly smiled, and he laughed and took another photo. He then held his camera out to show me it, and I nodded with a soft laugh of my own.
Gladio shook his head and looked up from the book he was reading. “But it’s even harder to picture him as a Lucian,” he argued.
“I just get bad vibes from him as a whole,” I sighed and rested my chin in my hand.
Ignis seemed to agree with a nod, “I’d sooner not rely on him.”
Gladio leaned forward in his seat, looking over at Noctis, who was still silently focused on driving. “What’s his highness’ opinion on this Ardyn?”
Noctis sighed and shrugged. “Don’t have one. He’s nothing more than a creepy old dude to me.”
“You hit the nail on the head right there,” Prompto laughed and nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, you really did.” I agreed. I carefully pulled my journal out and began writing again.
Ignis looked over, eyeing my journal with intrigue. “I must say you seem attached to that,” he began in an attempt to change the subject. “Is journaling a hobby of yours?”
“Oh, yeah, it is. I write down pretty much anything. Actually, I jotted down what those tombs look like so I can let you guys know if I come across any if we go our separate ways at some point.” I explained. I slid myself back properly into the seat. We approached a rest stop. Just when I thought we were going to continue, our chaperone pulled into the parking lot. It seemed we were going to be making a pitstop.
We all piled out of the Regalia. “What say we call it a day here?” Ardyn asked as he approached us. Gladio just rolled his eyes, once more positioning himself between us and the man.
“What say we continue on to Cauthess?” Gladio countered. I crossed my arms, trying to mask my own annoyance.
“The Archaean’s not going anywhere!” Ardyn’s whining tone was grating on the ears.
Ignis sighed and adjusted his glasses. “Neither are we, under your stewardship,” he muttered, keeping his voice quiet.
I jerked a thumb over my shoulder toward the Regalia again. “Thanks for offering to let us rest, but we really should continue.”
Prompto shoved his hands into his pockets. “So, we make camp,” he began, his tone dropping to an annoyed mutter. “With Ardyn.”
Gladio walked over to the car and opened the trunk. “Might as well get the tent set up,” he grumbled.
Again, Ardyn interjected. “I’m afraid I’ve never been one for the outdoors,” he responded coolly. “I shall foot the bill, so let us stay at the caravan over yonder.” He motioned to the caravan sitting a short walk away from the gas station we stopped at.
I shook my head. “I’ll sleep in the car. I’d rather not be sharing a bed with five men in one trailer.”
“But that’s quite cruel, making the lady sleep outside in the cold alone,” Ardyn turned his attention to me. He put a hand over his chest, as if trying to act sincere. “I couldn’t do that in good conscience.”
“I’ll manage. I’ve got a coat, gloves, and experience sleeping out in the open. It’s not a big deal,” I crossed my arms. My voice was firm. I refused to sleep in there with a stranger, especially one that the others were so wary of.
“Gaia,” Noctis warned. “Just let it go. It’s not worth arguing.” With a sigh, he and Ignis made their way to the caravan, double-checking what they would need to either get from the car or buy from the shop.
“Gaia,” Ardyn repeated my name, sounding like he was testing it on his tongue. “That’s your name. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He smiled slightly, but I couldn’t help the way my stomach twisted in response. His tone was saccharine, sickly sweet as if he was putting on an act. I ignored him and walked away, instead deciding to look around the nearby area. If anyone asked, I just needed to stretch my legs. The sun was beginning to set when we regrouped at the caravan. We all exchanged wary glances before we subjected ourselves to what the night might have in store. There we were, like Prompto said, making camp with Ardyn.
***
The sunlight stung my eyes the moment I stepped out into the daylight. “Sure is bright out,” I mumbled, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I wound up sleeping on the floor, so it wasn’t comfortable at all. I should have been more used to it, given my past wanderings.
Once we confirmed we were all ready to go, we were back on the road and following Ardyn. We were at least getting closer to our goal. Gladio rested an arm on the door of the car. “Whoever thought of tapping into the Meteor’s power is a genius.”
“Can you even go near that thing?” Prompto asked, looking over at the meteor on the horizon. He continued to take pictures as we drove.
Ignis spoke up, always knowledgeable about the world around us, “They harvest fragments found nearby. Pieces that broke off when the Meteor fell. Almost fell, I should say, for the Archaean caught it.”
“And he’s still there, holding the thing up,” Gladio added on, looking back over. I nodded, silently taking in the conversation happening around me.
Noctis laughed, glancing in the rear-view mirror at us. “Guess he never misses leg day.”
“Or any day for that matter,” Prompto chuckled.
Our back-and-forth banter continued, ranging from discussing Titan to whether Prompto’s camera and Ignis’s glasses could handle the heat of the crater. The heat was a reasonable concern. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but I needed to keep my jacket on for my own sake. Toughing through some heat couldn’t be too hard, could it?
An imperial blockade stopped us. Ardyn pulled his car off to the side of the giant locked gate that loomed overhead. “We’re here!” He announced as if nothing was wrong. It felt like a trap.
Noctis groaned quietly from behind the wheel. “This better not be a setup,” he muttered. He took his hands off the steering wheel and leaned back in his seat slightly. His body language and tone radiated annoyance.
“Have I given you reason to doubt me?” Ardyn asked in response.
Prompto spoke up hesitantly. “You don’t really inspire confidence,” he turned around to see if we would back him up.
Gladio nodded and crossed his arms. “Yeah, not very straightforward.”
Ardyn seemed to brush off our concern, choosing to ignore us instead. He called out to whoever was operating the blockade. “Hello, it’s me! Be so kind as to open up!”
We all glanced at each other, our expressions ranging from confusion to skepticism. We were all silently asking the same question: Is that really going to work?
The doors slowly slid open. It… worked. Ardyn’s tone turned almost patronizing. “I may not look like much, but I do have some influence. Aren’t you glad we came together?” He asked. “Your audience with divinity lies ahead.”
“You’re leaving?” Prompto asked in return, raising an eyebrow.
“I drop you at the Archaean’s open door, and with that, I bid you farewell.” If Ardyn wasn’t in his car, I could just tell he would have given a dramatic bow. Noctis started driving again, slowly passing through the now open gate of the blockade’s walls. On the opposite side were a few imperial dropships, confirming just who was in control. We were now off-road, driving precariously along a cliffside.
Once we were certain we were out of Niflheim’s earshot, Gladio huffed, “I’ve met some weirdos.”
“I hope we don’t meet that one again,” Ignis added, causing me to stifle a shocked laugh. It was strange hearing Ignis be so blunt.
Prompto seemed equally surprised. “Little harsh there, don’t you think?” he laughed as he turned around to face us. We drove past some crumbling pillars and found ourselves at a dead end. At least, a dead end for the car. It was already quite warm, and I sighed, taking a rubber band from my jacket pocket and tying my hair up. It would hurt to take it out later, but there was no use worrying about it now. I looked over at the remains of the stone building ahead of us. Was that what I think it was?
“So, we keep going this way,” Noctis stated as he got out of the Regalia, and we followed. Gladio nodded slightly as he commented about being able to figure out what the Niflheim empire was doing by blocking off the meteor. We followed the stone path laid ahead of us, wandering deeper into the crater and closer to the searing heat.
“These ruins,” Ignis muttered as he looked around. He seemed to notice the familiarity as well. We were in the rubble of a royal tomb. There was an outcropping that possessed the familiar statue holding yet another ancient royal weapon.
Prompto pointed over to it. “Is that what I think it is?” He asked with a bright grin as he looked over at Noctis.
“Holy shit,” I mumbled, looking from the sword to our surroundings. “Bit precarious. Your ancestors certainly had some strange taste,” I joked, turning in place to take in more of the view. It was quite a surprise.
Gladio chuckled softly as he and Noctis began walking closer to it. “Would be a shame not to grab that power, eh, Highness?” He asked with a smirk.
Noctis held his hand out over it like he did in the cave. “Let’s grab it and go,” he muttered. It was the same scene, except for the sword being different. It joined the other weapons that appeared around him. I still needed to get used to the sight.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake. It had tremored before, which I thought nothing of originally. This one was different, though. It knocked us off our feet. I scrambled back, my hands clamoring on the stone behind me as I pushed myself away.
“Get away! Quickly!” Ignis yelled, keeping himself low to the ground. He, Prompto, and I were able to back away. Noctis, however, doubled over in pain. He had a headache here, of all the times. He began to push himself back up, trying to move through the pain, but the ledge he and Gladio were closer to crumbled. He fell along with the rubble.
Gladio immediately ran and jumped down after Noctis. Once the earthquake stopped, I carefully crawled my way to the remnants of the ledge. My grip on the rocks was nearly white-knuckled. “Oh my gods,” I mumbled, noticing just how steep a drop it was. From what I could see, Gladio had to pull Noctis up from falling even further into the crater.
Prompto and Ignis got up and ran over to where I was. “Noct! You okay?” Prompto yelled, cupping his hands over his mouth to amplify his question. Ignis offered me a hand, and I carefully pushed myself up. I brushed myself off, still staring out from the now cliff we were standing at.
“Thank heavens you’re safe! Is there a way back up?” Ignis asked next.
Noctis’ voice was faint but still audible. “No, but there’s a path! Gonna see where it leads!” He called. I stepped back. The last thing I wanted was another quake to hit and have me fall down there myself. I didn’t know I was afraid of heights. Apparently, I was.
Gladio’s voice came next. “You three try to get down!” He yelled at us.
Ignis nodded slightly, not that Gladio and Noctis could see it. “Very well! We’ll look for a way.” He motioned for Prompto and me to follow and began walking away. “Be careful now!”
Prompto looked over at Ignis; his jaw dropped. “What? We’re going where?” He asked. His alarmed expression spoke volumes.
I sighed and glanced over my shoulder back at the drop. I doubted Titan would be happy about more unannounced visitors, but we needed to get down there. I could only guess how dangerous it was.
In a crash course on group dynamics and how they work together, Gaia accompanies Noctis and his friends into a cave behind a waterfall. The prize they seek is deep inside, it's just a matter of getting there...
It was a few minutes of driving in silence before we pulled into the parking lot of a rest stop. “It should be a short walk from here,” Ignis spoke up as he got out of the car. I learned the car was called the ‘Regalia’. A fancy name for a fancy car, I thought. We all got out shortly after, but Noctis almost immediately put the heel of his palm to his forehead with a hiss of pain.
“Another headache?” His advisor asked as he looked over. Gladiolus seemed equally concerned, muttering about how it wasn’t normal. I looked between Prompto and Noctis, feeling slightly worried myself.
“He’s been getting weird headaches a lot recently. Don’t know what’s causing it,” Prompto explained to me. Noctis straightened up a bit, and I guessed that the pain had finally gone away. We began our trek to the waterfall, walking down the stairs that connected the roadway to the dirt path.
“So what are we looking for in here?” I asked as we carefully snuck past some wildlife. We were mainly trying to avoid the enormous snake, a Midgardsormr, which seemed to claim part of the area as its den. The Shieldshear crabs we passed next were nothing in comparison. They were certainly big, but they weren’t much of a threat.
“A sword,” Noctis answered as he led us up an incline to a ledge that branched behind the waterfall. I stopped to watch the waterfall for a moment. Lucis never ceased to amaze with its beautiful areas.
“The legend says to look behind the waterfall!” Prompto’s voice drew me from my thoughts, and I continued to follow the men.
Ignis chuckled and looked over his shoulder at him. “And what does the waterfall say?” He asked playfully.
“I think it says, ‘come in!’”
We walked along the damp rock behind the flow, an opening in the rock leading to a cave hidden from view of the trail. “Wouldn’t you know it! An entrance!” Prompto added with a smile. Continuing to lead, Noctis stepped into the cave first. The temperature seemed to drop immediately as we entered. It wasn’t abnormal, but it was still surprising.
“This place gives me goosebumps. Double back for our coats?” Prompto asked as he looked around. He jerked his thumb over his shoulder toward the entrance again, but we kept walking.
Gladiolus shook his head, clearly unbothered by the cold. He didn’t even move to button up his shirt. “What’s the point?” He questioned. “A little chill won’t kill you.” I shivered and shook my head. What was I getting myself into?
“Well, looking at the bright side,” Prompto continued as he glanced around. He ran his hands over his arms in an attempt to warm himself up. “At least the cold keeps the daemons at bay?”
Gladiolus rolled his eyes. “Because monsters like warmth,” he scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest. It was clear that the sarcastic banter was familiar, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Prompto hummed as if considering what the other man had said.
He then exclaimed, “But what if they’re frozen?” The darkness in the cave was a stark contrast to the midday sun just outside, but it seemed the royal procession had come prepared. They had small flashlights clipped to their jackets.
“Encased in ice,” Gladiolus continued as we delved deeper. “Waiting… for something warm to pass by.” It was clear that he was trying to get a rise out of Prompto.
“And then they jump out!” Prompto yelled before shivering audibly.
I tugged the sleeves of my jacket. “Assuming we don’t freeze in here before they can thaw,” I added before jumping back as three gelatinous blob-like daemons emerged from the ground in front of us. Flan, just one of the many different varieties of daemons I was familiar with. I groaned quietly in annoyance, and it seemed like the others agreed.
“There’s our warm welcome,” Prompto huffed as he quickly summoned a pistol and opened fire on one of the daemons. Noctis threw a shortsword forward and teleported behind another of the creatures before landing a swift strike.
I grabbed my axe from its place on my back and brought it down with a yell. “This is disgusting. Gonna have to clean my boots and my axe after this.” I couldn’t help but complain about it. I knew the odds of encountering daemons in a cave, of all places, were extremely high. They thrived in the dark, after all.
The five of us continued trying to fight without hitting each other, which was easier said than done. A few more blows to each one, and the fight wrapped up. “Not a fan of mushy desserts,” Noctis scoffed as we watched the daemons melt back into the ground from whence they came. Taking the flans’ emergence as a sign that we were headed on the right track, we continued, but quickly found ourselves looking down an icy slope.
I looked down at my boots. The tread was a bit worn, and I wasn’t sure exactly how slick that ice would be. “Heading down a slope, in slip-sliding shoes? What could possibly go wrong?” Prompto asked as Noctis stepped forward. He yelped in surprise when he realized just how slick the ice was, and we watched as he slid down and disappeared from view.
Ignis stepped up next, uttering a simple, “Down we go.” Prompto, Gladiolus, and I were the only ones still standing on the edge. I looked over to them, the question of who would go next not even being uttered before Prompto motioned for me to go.
“Ladies first!” He joked. I rolled my eyes but took a moment to prepare myself before stepping off. I bit back the urge to shout in pain as I fell and slammed my back into the ice. Should have braced myself more.
I tumbled onto the cold stone floor of a deeper part of the cave. “Son of a…” I muttered as my hands shot up to check whether my sunglasses were still on properly. After I confirmed they were, I quickly moved out of the way as Gladiolus and Prompto slid down.
“Why do you wear those sunglasses even when it's dark like this?” Noctis asked as he looked over at me.
I shrugged and put my hands into the pockets of my jeans. “Just part of my outfit, I suppose. I can’t imagine leaving without them.”
“So, like Prompto and how he needs to have his camera with him?” Noctis began walking deeper into the cave, a steep incline ahead. I wasn’t looking forward to any more surprise slippery spots.
Prompto chimed in as he looked around. “I really hope we didn’t come in here for nothing,” he sighed. We carefully made our way up the slope and continued on our path. We still didn’t have much of a clue about exactly where we were going, but so long as we didn’t get turned around somewhere, it felt like the right direction.
Gladiolus shrugged as he walked alongside Noctis. His position in the group as the shield was clear. “I’m sure there’s something if we look,” he answered. He held out his arm, stopping us from blindly moving forward. In front of us was another icy slope. Great.
Noctis sighed and slid down it. “Again?” He grumbled. The rest of us followed shortly after. Yet another daemon stood a ways away from us. This one was a large, spiderlike creature. Not just a spider, given that it had the upper half of a woman. It was an arachne.
I winced slightly as I grabbed my axe again. “Oh yikes,” I laughed nervously. “You guys got her?”
Ignis looked over at me as he readied his daggers. “Do you not like spiders?” He asked.
“I can handle spiders just fine. Not giant ones with a woman’s torso, though. That’s where I draw the line!” I shook my head. I still joined in the fight, pushing my hesitance aside to continue to try to make a good impression. With all five of us teamed up against just one of her, the arachne quickly fell to our barrage.
Our surroundings changed just a bit. Dotting the path ahead were strange rocks. Upon getting a closer look, the rocks contained elemental magic: fire, lightning, and ice. I tapped one of them, the fire one, a few times with a finger. As I suspected, it was warm to the touch, a nice contrast to the chilled air surrounding us. “Wow, those are so cool,” I laughed. Ignis looked over at me and just shook his head with a chuckle.
“Onward,” he stated, clearly telling me to keep up and get a move on. I ran after them with a nod.
“So, your highness?” I began before Noctis shook his head. He looked over his shoulder at me before speaking.
“Just call me Noctis.” He answered simply. Did he not like people calling him that?
“Right. Noctis.” I nodded. “You’re looking for a sword in here?”
“Yeah!” Prompto confirmed. “One of the royal arms, they belong to the previous kings. So here we are looking for the tomb that has it!”
More flan showed up to block our advance, along with a more humanoid one carrying a large sword: a ronin. Noctis seemed to decide the order of attack for us, lunging at the ronin with a yell. I switched my axe out for my broadsword, quickly blocking a blow from one of the flan before swatting it away. “Can’t you guys show up somewhere else?” I yelled. It was at least giving me a better sense of how the group handled their weapons. Noctis used shortswords mainly, Ignis had his daggers, Prompto had his pistol, and Gladiolus wielded a greatsword.
It was more of a fight than the previous rounds, but that was to be expected given the new daemon we encountered. The flan went down easily, the ronin not so much. We took a moment to collect ourselves after the ronin finally fell. I watched as the others' weapons seemed to vanish. “Hey, how does that work?” I tilted my head. “That summoning your weapons thing.”
“It’s tied in with the crystal. Noct has a bunch of random stuff stashed in the armiger, too,” Prompto shrugged with a laugh. I was glad Prompto was the one explaining it; I doubted Ignis or Gladiolus would put it in layman’s terms.
We reached a man-made structure, seemingly built within the cave walls. Is this what they were looking for? “Hey, knock knock,” Gladiolus began, looking over at Noctis.
“We’re here, finally,” Ignis finished with a chuckle. We were in the deepest part of the cave, I knew that for sure. Of course, it could never be that easy. More daemons stood in our way: imps and a strange squid-like humanoid. I could only assume it was a mindflayer. Not just one of them, I realized as I turned around. There was one more behind us, along with a few more flan. I was really starting to get sick of those. Another tedious fight that seemed to alternate between having the upper hand and having to jump out of the way of the mindflayers trying to grab us with their tentacles later, and we finally won.
Noctis approached the door to the tomb, rummaging through his pockets to find a key. It clicked softly, and the doors slid open. It wasn’t much brighter inside, though it was to be expected. There was a weapon resting in the middle of the room. I could only guess the statue holding it was made to represent the king it belonged to. As Noctis held his hand out over it, the weapon seemed to light up in response. A spectral, semi-transparent version of it rose before plunging itself into his chest. Instead of hurting him, it just appeared next to the other spectral weapons circling him.
“What was that?” I asked after staring on in stunned silence. “Doesn’t that hurt?”
He shook his head, and just as quickly as we entered, we left the tomb. Prompto seemed the most eager to get out of the cave and back into the warm air outside, practically cheering as we made our way back.
Noctis stopped me once we reemerged from the cave. “You know, you did pretty well in there,” he praised. I remained silent for a moment, just looking at him with a blank expression as I processed what he said.
“You’re serious?” I asked. “I did well in there? I felt like I was like a chikatrice with its head cut off.”
“Yeah, I am. Care to join us a bit longer? I can see about making you a Crownsguard.” He began to offer before he cut himself off, overtaken by another headache. Prompto ran over to his side, kneeling next to him.
“You okay, Noct?” he asked as he helped his friend to his feet.
Noctis didn’t respond immediately, wincing again before muttering, “Where was that?” Gladio looked over at him with a furrowed brow, arms crossed over his chest. “A hole in the ground… something burning. The meteor?” Noctis continued thinking aloud.
Ignis’ eyes widened slightly in realization. “You saw the Disc of Cauthess.”
Gladiolus started heading back to where we parked the Regalia. “Let’s make our way back to Lestallum,” he suggested. It was the same way we came, sneaking around the wildlife again.
“Yeah, gotta report back to Talcott!” Prompto agreed with a nod. I could tell confusion was clear on my face. He took one look at me and explained who that was. Talcott was the young boy who tipped them off to the royal tomb’s location in the first place.
The sun had nearly set, and just as Noctis was about to get back into the Regalia, Ignis stopped him. “The roads are perilous at night. We should probably rest up and wait until morning.” He advised. Luckily, there was a caravan nearby, and it seemed that was our ticket to a rested night.
“I can keep watch if you guys want,” I offered. I wasn’t feeling remotely tired. The idea of making it this far in just a single day was too much, and I couldn’t contain my excitement. “Get some rest.”
“You sure?” Gladiolus asked. Prompto and Noctis were already checking out the interior of the trailer we were going to crash in. I nodded.
Noctis poked his head back out of the caravan doorway. “I’ll talk to Cor in the morning and get you set up.”
I nodded again, giving him a thumbs up as I settled into one of the chairs outside. It wasn’t the most comfortable, but it was better than being on my feet all night.
I laughed as I repeatedly summoned my sword before returning it to the armiger. I couldn’t believe it. I really made it. I made it. “This is so cool!” I looked over at the others with a grin. We piled back into the Regalia for the drive back to Lestallum. Other than Noctis still being plagued by headaches, it was relatively uneventful. Even the walk back to the hotel was normal, at least compared to the adventure we had the day before. I grabbed my journal from my bag and began writing again as we walked.
“Prince Noctis! Welcome back!” A young boy exclaimed, waving at us as we entered the hotel lobby. That must have been Talcott. I waited closer to the entrance, not wanting to overstep in a group that was clearly very familiar with each other.
Ignis smiled and acknowledged the boy with a nod. “Your story came to a happy end.”
Noctis looked over at me, motioning for me to come over. “Met a new ally, too. Gaia Machina. Ran into her on the way to the tomb,” he introduced me to the group. I just gave a small wave and a smile. I felt put on the spot, but at least he was being nice and telling them who I was instead of letting me just stand there.
As we turned to leave, Noctis doubled over once more and clutched his head in his hands. A girl who could only be a few years younger than me, Iris, ran over. “What’s the matter? Are you alright?”
“He’ll be fine, don’t worry,” Gladiolus reassured her. “We oughta take a closer look at this so-called ‘Disc’.”
“Then look no closer than the outlook! We can use the… viewer things!” Prompto agreed, already stepping outside as Noctis straightened himself back upright. I raised an eyebrow at the blond.
“The viewer things?” I repeated. “You mean a tower viewer. But it is a good idea, we could maybe get clues from there, like in a mystery novel.”
Noctis led the way as we walked to the outlook. It was just outside the city, next to where we parked the Regalia. I glanced behind us, taking in the view of the sky and the tops of the buildings that made up the city. It was still impressive to me.
The moment we reached the outlook, however, we noticed a mysterious person standing there. It was almost like he was waiting for us…
Introduction: Gaia Machina. A wanderer who made her way into the city of Lestallum among the chaos of the failed treaty signing between Lucis and Niflheim. She has a single goal in mind: to find the Crown Prince of Lucis.
A calm silence filled the night air of Lestallum, only broken by the sound of my footsteps as I walked down an alleyway. The layout of the city was foreign, but a much-needed respite from the empty countryside.
I wandered without rest; my journal kept the days from blurring into one. How long had it been? I shook my head as if to clear the question from my mind. It was silly; it didn’t truly matter. All that mattered was that I made it.
I glanced around the alleyway I found myself in. Looks forgotten enough, I silently noted as I slung my bag off my shoulder, finally letting myself sit down after nothing but walking. The axe still strapped to my back clattered against the concrete, causing me to wince slightly at the noise. Where I expected someone to come and investigate the ruckus, I found nothing but silence once more. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I carefully reached over to adjust how my axe had been sitting, trying to make my barebones resting spot a bit more comfortable.
I leaned back against a brick wall; what building it was, I didn’t know, nor did I care. I just wanted to rest, if only for a moment. I reached over to my bag, rummaging through it with a hand, my gaze still locked onto the starry sky. There it is. I fished my journal out of the satchel, followed shortly by my pen. Carefully opening the worn leather cover and thumbing through the pages, I considered what was important to make note of before I began writing.
Now I just need to find Prince Noctis. I sighed and glanced at my wrist, the tattooed barcode contrasting against my pale skin. I knew it would be dangerous, but everything I had done in the past was equally risky. I just needed to hide where I was from, what I was.
Humming my favorite song under my breath, I jotted down my resolution. Exhaustion weighed heavily on my body, a reminder that I was more than just a machine. Now that I had escaped Niflheim, I could live my life the way I wanted. The paradoxical resolve that my fatigue gave me was quelled by the yawn that escaped my lips. “Damn it,” I muttered as I stretched, the cold metal fingers of my right hand interlinking with the much more humanoid ones of my left. “Finally crashing, took me long enough.”
I let my arms drop to my sides once again, just taking in the feel of the breeze before removing my sunglasses and putting them in the pocket of my jacket. There was a part of me that wanted to remain awake, to remain on high alert. The dull ache of overexertion overshadowed my anxieties, though. So I let myself drift off into what would most likely be a night of restless sleep.
I awoke to the sharp sting of sunlight, my skin crawling with discomfort. With a groan of annoyance, I scrambled to put my sunglasses back on, glancing up at the bright sky. I carefully got up, making sure that the sleeves of my jacket covered my arms. The leather only had so much give, but paired with the gloves I had managed to find, only slivers of my skin and metal were shown around my wrists. I could explain the sunglasses easily, but a prosthetic that looked exactly like an MT's arm? That was a reach.
Pushing myself back up to my feet, I grabbed my bag once more. It was time to continue my search. I slipped out of the alleyway and into the bustling streets of the city. I looked around in an attempt to gather my bearings, scanning the people who strolled by from behind my dark-tinted shades. Don’t look too suspicious, I reminded myself, gripping the strap of my satchel tightly with my right hand- the human one; what little that word truly meant to me, at least.
A few whispers caught my attention as I walked down the road. Rumors of members of the Crownsguard being spotted in the area. I smiled slightly. Seemed like luck was on my side, assuming they were still nearby. The part of the city I strolled into appeared to be a market, with various stalls set up around.
I approached one of the people running a stall, looking over the various goods. I didn’t have much for gil, but I figured I could at least ask for directions. Those were usually free, right?
“Excuse me, do you know where a hotel is?” I asked. “I just got here and was hoping to find a place to stay for a few nights.”
“There’s the Leville down that way,” the person running the stall said, quickly jotting down the directions on a scrap piece of paper. “Are you a hunter or something?”
“Thank you, sir,” I smiled slightly. I adjusted how my weapons were held against my back. Between the axe and the broadsword I picked up, one of them always seemed to sit funny. A small price to pay for trying to carry two weapons. His question surprised me, but I tried not to let it show. “Yeah, I am.”
“Quite a bit away from their headquarters, aren’t you?”
I shrugged. “I’m a bit of a wanderer, I guess,” I laughed softly. “Besides, where’s the fun in looking for threats so close to base?” I adjusted my bag once more, tilting my head in the direction I planned on going. “Thank you again for the directions.”
With that, I grabbed the scrap paper and glanced down at it as I walked. The metal of my weapons tapped against each other with each step, the noise almost rhythmic. My eyes kept scanning my surroundings, studying the people I walked past. It was intimidating, being in an area I barely knew, searching for people who would likely despise me if they knew the truth.
A group of four men caught my eye, their black outfits a striking contrast to the lighter colors and fewer layers of the locals. That must be them, I thought to myself.
“You’re Prince Noctis, right?” I asked. The tallest of the four shifted his position slightly, putting himself between me and his black-haired friend. I raised my hand to show I wasn’t a threat and adjusted my sunglasses with the other hand.
“Just who are you?” The muscular man asked as he glared down at me. There wasn’t much of a height difference between us, but the cold look in his eyes made me feel so much smaller.
I instinctively took a few steps back. “Gaia Machina, I’m a hunter. I heard that his highness was dead. I was just surprised to see him, that's all.” The lie about my occupation slipped through my lips with ease. I most likely convinced myself of its validity.
The shorter male with black hair, Noctis Lucis Caelum himself, spoke up. “What about it?” He raised an eyebrow at me.
I blinked a few times in surprise. He was actually talking to me. Me, of all people. I quickly regained my composure in an attempt to seem confident. “I was wondering if you would need an extra hand. My weapons are yours, your majesty.” I put a hand over my chest and bowed my head. I wasn’t sure if that was exactly how Lucians did it, but I could only hope my respect had been shown properly.
The taller man looked over at Noctis, unconvinced. I found myself holding my breath as the pair seemed to have a silent conversation. Without a word, Noctis motioned for his group, and the four walked back into the hotel lobby they had left. While they seemed to be discussing, I waited outside and adjusted my jacket again. You made it this far, Gaia. The least they can do is say no.
I switched from fidgeting with my jacket to adjusting my gloves once more. It felt like they were taking forever, but I knew it must have been just a few minutes. The group of four approached me again.
“You’re in luck, we were just on our way to explore a cave. We’re looking for something there,” Noctis smiled slightly as he crossed his arms over his chest. “Maybe we’ll keep you around after that.”
I let out a surprised laugh. “That works for me. Like a test run.” Without a warning, Noctis and his three friends began walking. I ran to follow.
“So, Gaia, this is Gladio,” Noctis motioned to the taller, intimidating man who had questioned me before. He then motioned to one of the other men, the one with light brown hair and glasses. He seemed the most put-together, given how formal he seemed compared to the others. “That’s Ignis.”
The last man, the one with messy blond hair and a bubbly demeanor, decided to introduce himself instead of waiting for Noctis to do it. “I’m Prompto! It’s nice to meet you!”
I laughed, giving him a small two-fingered wave. “Nice to meet you all, I hope I can impress.”
“Those weapons,” Gladio began as he looked me over, putting a hand to his chin. “Is that a magitek axe? You fought one?”
I shoved my hands into the pockets of my jeans as I walked. “Yeah, took its axe as a trophy.” Yet again, the lie seemed almost too easy to utter. I hoped it was believable. “Guessing you guys encountered a few as well?”
We approached the parking area just outside the city. There was a car that was much fancier than the rest– a sleek black convertible, entirely different from the cars I had seen before. I whistled quietly as I looked it over.
“You’re riding with us, correct?” Ignis asked. He had a slight accent compared to the others, which only added to the air of formality around him. I nodded slightly, which caused Prompto to laugh softly.
“Oh man, you’re gonna be crammed in the back!” He warned playfully. Ignis got into the car first, followed by Prompto, who took the front passenger seat. Noctis opened the back driver's side door and sat down. I looked over at Gladio, who was clearly waiting for me to get in before he did.
I sat between the two men in the back, “Yeah, you’re right, it’s pretty cramped.” I shifted in my seat slightly to preserve not only my personal space but also the others'. “I should just be happy for the ride, though, huh?”

OOC but going in by saying that this blog is kinda back up?
A lot of stuff has changed since I last posted, including my name. Im lazy and not gonna redo all of my deadname mentions in the past posts buuut I am gonna reblog my ffxv fic's rewrite on here 👀
Another batch of headcanons for Gaia! This set mainly focuses on her relationship with Ravus! There may be hints of NSFW, but I won't delve too much into that. Obviously, spoilers are ahead for FFXV and for Never Let Me Go.
Also, this list will probably be updated with EVEN more headcanons!
While Gaia knew Ravus as the High Commander, the two formally met in Altissia. They'd seen each other before, yes, but Altissia marked when their relationship began.
As I mentioned earlier in the general headcanons for Gaia, she and Ravus are 9 years apart. People seem to frown upon age gaps in relationships, but Gaia is consenting and is allowed to make her own decisions. The two bonded over their similar pasts and their romance isn't at all controlling or predatory on either end.
After Lunafreya's death and during Noctis's recovery period, Gaia spent a lot of time with Ravus, since he obviously wasn't taking the death of his sister well. I won't go into specific detail about what they did, but I feel like you get the idea. Mostly it was just Gaia being there for him, comforting him, that kind of thing, but you get the point.
Gaia actually bought a plush Chikatrice during her adventure with the chocobros and Ravus did not expect that when Gaia offered to share a room for a bit after the Trial of Leviathan. After a couple days, Ravus would joke about wanting one of his own. He didn't think Gaia would actually offer to buy him one.
Ignis actually asked both Ravus and Gaia what their relationship meant when it came to their affiliations, but both said that the relationship was separate from the conflict between Niflheim and Lucis.
Prompto was the one to realize something was up with Gaia and Ravus during their time in Altissia. Given that Altissia is Imperial territory, he was keeping an eye on Gaia to make sure that nothing happened. He kinda caught those two on a "date", which Gaia totally denied, but Prompto knew better.
They are both pretty protective over the other, but nowhere near possessive or clingy.
In public, they keep their usual serious demeanor, but if it's just the two of them or they're in a more private setting, they are more relaxed and I'd describe them as goofballs.
Ravus probably joked about doing what Luna and Noctis did, sending Umbra to the other with a journal as a way to keep in touch, but Gaia worried that not only would it get Ravus in trouble with Niflheim, but it also would be upsetting to Noctis.
During the time Gaia was pregnant, Ravus becomes more protective of her. She's the last person he has left, after all. And it goes double once he learns that they are going to have a kid.
That being said, he still didn't restrict her from doing what she wanted, he just wanted to be with her to make sure nothing happens. So the two were a package deal when it came to hunting daemons for that time, and if anything, it only brought them closer.
Gaia is the little spoon, 100%. She loves being held.
She also likes wearing his coat from time to time, it just comforts her.
Their contact photos for the other on their phone are just goofy pictures they took of each other. And Ravus has so many stupid pictures of Gaia, and he refuses to delete any of them.
Gaia has tried to convince Ravus to see if she can use his prosthetic. She still hasn't succeeded.
Carrying on with the prosthetic headcanons, I personally headcanon Ravus to rarely ever remove his prosthetic arm, other than when necessary, like showering or sleeping. Unless he feels secure around the person. And Gaia is one of those people. Of course, it helped that Gaia detached her magitek arm to show solidarity.
They don't really have many pet names for each other. Ravus is a lot more romantic and formal with his pet names for Gaia, calling her "dear", "love" or "my queen". Gaia's pet names for Ravus are just what she considered the usual for relationships, those being "babe", "honey" and, once Noctis fulfilled his calling, she started calling Ravus "my king". She tried to call him that last one once before, but Ravus told her to wait until Noctis completed his calling. It was probably just awkward for him to be called that at first, too.
For some reason, it took Gaia at least a few days into dating Ravus to realize he is actually royalty. And up until Tenebrae was reclaimed, she kept forgetting that fact. Just goes to show she didn't fall in love with him for his position, but just for him.
The two will jokingly bicker about little things, like the other's taste in food or drinks. Gaia loves teasing Ravus about being "too fancy" because he prefers wine over any other alcohol.
Due to a certain event I have no clue about, this account as well as @thecollaborativeeffort will no longer be active until further notice
Along with that, my fic, Never Let Me Go, posted on my main account, @bonjovian isn't being updated on here. It will still be updated, but updates on here will be much slower.
Thank you for your patience and please bear with me on this, its that time where seasonal depression just kinda kicks my ass.
“I can fix him" this “I can make him worse" that. I can't do jack shit I'm just sitting here as he inevitably falls in love with me. he's the exact fucking same except he now has a huge soft spot for me. I'm not doing shit man and neither is he
Where do they see themselves in five years? Ten?
I just see myself living as I do now, with Ravus and still keeping in contact with the others.
What’s their most useless, weirdest, or least marketable skill?
I know every little difference between magiteks.
What are they like in the bedroom — well-rounded lover or wooden plank?
I'd say I'm a pretty well-rounded lover.
Have they committed a crime before? Which one(s)?
... I have killed two people, and it's not really something I like to admit. Both were in self-defense. A random hunter and my father.
If they were an animal, which one would they be? Which one would they think they’d be?
I think I would be a fox?
(Gaia would probably be a cat, in all honestly! -Jovian)
Do they think about what they wear or do they throw on whatever they find first?
I just kind of throw on whatever I have. I really only think of what I have to wear if it's a special occasion.
Do they have any insecurities?
I often feel like I shouldn't be with the others and Ravus. I don't know why I think like that on occasion but I do.
What is their favorite thing about themselves?
I honestly really like my sass. Some people don't really like it, but it's one of my favorite traits.
I am 100% the little spoon, and I admit it. I love being cuddled, though it is hard to do sometimes when he takes off his prosthetic
Ravus and I both have nightmares an equal amount I'd say, but I noticed that we both seemed to have them less as we continued dating? I guess we found comfort in each other.
Ravus likes tea, so he makes it. I don't know how he likes it, I personally don't drink the stuff. I've tried it, not a fan.
... Ravus does. The fuckers are way too fast sometimes and it scares me.
I think we both have cute pet names for each other. Will I share them? No. But Emmy, I feel like you already know.
I steal some of Ravus's shirts all the time. They're really comfy, and they kinda smell like him so it's just really nice.
Ravus takes longer showers, which is to be expected. I'm the one who sings in the shower. He's caught me singing a couple times, and I still feel a bit embarrassed.
I think we're both equally affectionate in our own ways? I know I'm definitely the more touchy one though. How I manage to get away with so much is beyond me. That special privilege of Ravus liking me, I guess.
Look, we both know the answer to that one. I'm the one having to be returned.
... Look, some of the prizes in the cereal can be interesting, okay? Even if they're cheaply made.
I think I'm the fun parent? I know Ravus is a bit more strict, but that is also just his upbringing.
I'm the one who loses stuff. All the time, and it's ridiculous. Sometimes it will even be right in front of me and I'll still ask if someone's seen it.
I admit I'm the hopeless romantic out of the two of us. Which just makes me all the happier to be with him.
