okay, i'm going to make a full post on my thoughts about young sherlock but for now i want to talk about moriarty and the fact he's irish.
Now, i know that the writers definitely didn't consider many of the implications here, but i need them to throw in some little things in season 2.
First of all, his family are dead and I'd really like to know why. Even if they don't have him explicitly tell anyone i think it should definitely be implied or at least affect how he looks at some things. Judging on the period, they were probably either killed by the famine, the lingering health issues from the famine, or from the many outbreaks of disease across Ireland that happened in the 1850/60s. We got Shou An backstory (sorry for spelling) and know what happened to her family, but i want to know about James'!
The second is something they have already kind of started weaving in that i just wanted to acknowledge. Moriarty is definitely catholic. I'm pretty sure in one of the episodes he crosses himself when they walk into a church, and i love how they slipped that in. That man grew up catholic with out a doubt (even if they had to keep that a secret) so it makes sense for it to impact little things like that.
Also, after he got kicked out of oxford i would have liked a mention of how hard it would be for him to get a job or lodgings or go to another university as an Irish person. I know this is a somewhat idealized version of the 1800s, but there would still be some amount of dislike for the Irish in England. I don't need them to turn him into a raging revolutionary or be cussing out the English at every opportunity. All I'm asking is for him to walk past a "no Irish need apply" sign and roll his eyes or have Sherlock say something particularly English and rich and ignorant to make Moriarty roll his eyes because Sherlock does NOT understand how he grew up.
i don't want it to be his whole personality, but they can't have an Irish character and not acknowledge any aspect of what it was like to be Irish in the 1800s
"Come guess me this riddle: what beats pipes and fiddle? What's hotter than mustard and milder than cream? What best wets your whistle? What's clearer than crystal? What's sweeter than honey and stronger than steam? What will make the dumb talk? What will make the lame walk? The elixir of life and philospher's stone. And what helped Mr. Brunel to dig the Thames Tunnel? Wasn't it whiskey from ould Inishowen?"

details from the other bennet sister novel that will make you love the show even more:
tom is not just a friend of the family—he's the son of mrs. gardiner's cousin, and she tells mary early on that tom has been kindhearted since childhood
not only that, but tom has... you guessed it... four sisters, and is the younger son, hence him being a working man
tom is way more teasing and flamboyant in the book, which makes his lack of self-confidence when it comes to matters of the heart even more interesting
tom wanted to be a poet but realized early on he had no talent for it. he became a barrister instead because, he says, there were clear answers to seemingly everything (character building !! but as a lawyer myself i'm like um 90% of the law is "it depends")
since he can't be a poet, he is a published poetry critic instead. and he defends wordsworth's writing so fiercely that his friends make fun of him for it
in fact, after tom leaves and mr. ryder is courting mary in earnest, they talk about poetry reviews. mary mentions that tom dislikes one of them, and will responds, "that's because its reviewers have not always been kind to his adored wordsworth. you know how loyal he is, once he has found something to love." (help i've been stabbed)
mary doesn't just read poetry at tom's recommendation: they have a challenge where they each must read the other's choice. for tom, mary chooses a volume and a half of catharine macaulay's history of england. for mary, tom chooses wordsworth's lyrical ballads
mrs. gardiner is scared that tom will hate reading it and be bored to death when talking to mary about it. instead, when the two meet in the drawing room to discuss their reading, she keeps checking on mary and tom only to find that they discuss it for hours
before she even knows that it's his favorite, mary tells tom that "tintern abbey" is her favorite wordsworth poem
tom doesn't just do a poetry recitation. early one morning, he takes her and mr. gardiner to westminster bridge in a carriage to replicate wordsworth's vision in "composed upon westminster bridge" (rather than in a garden)
as mary is falling in love with tom, she takes up playing piano again
a scene that isn't included in the show is when tom goes with mary and the gardiners to visit vauxhall gardens. he and mary play a game while walking around in which they make up stories for the strangers they pass by. tom gives one man a jobless fortune-hunter background and says he lives at the "wrong end" of brook street. coincidentally, we meet will ryder moments later... and he reveals he doesn't have a career and lives on brook street...
mr. ryder visits the gardiner home multiple times to talk to mary. he tells mary that tom "has an excellent opinion of [her]—he always speaks of [her] in the highest possible terms—and there is no-one whose perceptions [will] trust[s] more." so part of the reason mr. ryder initially becomes so interested in mary is how tom talks about her <33
at the dinner party mr. ryder hosts, mary takes some sprigs of lavender out of a bowl. tom leans over and asks to have one for himself. when she gives it to him, he wears it in his buttonhole for the rest of the evening
at the same party, mary, tom, and mrs. gardiner discuss jam (lol). mary insists she won't eat anything weirder than raspberry or strawberry jam. tom responds, "so even if we were married, i could not obtain the wish of my heart—greengage jam at breakfast." (!!!!!)
when mr. hurst is drunkenly yelling to his wife about mary being "perfectly tolerable" when the party breaks up, tom gets super mad and apologizes for not running down the stairs and telling him to shut up
since the character of ann baxter doesn't exist, nearly the entire time tom knows mary, he's secretly building up the courage and money to propose, with no other impediments… only to be thwarted by will at the lakes
when they're at the lakes, tom gives mary a sprig of honeysuckle before mr. ryder even arrives. and when will gives her the primrose on the hike, the petals are actually a little crushed. mary turns to tom and says she saved his flower in a vase, but he's too preoccupied with jealousy to hear her
when tom leaves, he leaves a letter for mrs. gardiner, and the last line, all by itself, says: "i beg to be remembered to miss bennet"
when tom disappears, he specifically goes walking around tintern abbey to wallow
after tom proposes, there's a reference to emma: "i might add in my own defence that if i had loved you less, i might have ventured more. it was hard to be bold when i was only too aware of what i stood to lose."
tom leaving due to jealousy and self-abasement, as well as having an unwanted "attachment," is a parallel of frederick wentworth in persuasion
Donal Finn was showing at least half of his bare chest every time he came on screen in the Wheel of Time S3 but the way i gasped when i saw this pic you would have thought i have never seen a man's torso before in my life, let alone his.
The microexpressions of Tom Hayward
It's the little moments, the minute changes in his expressions that really caught my eye on rewatch. Our boy has such range in such miniscule emotions. A twitch of a lip, a subtle raise of an eyebrow, the light leaving his eyes.

Look, I think Kimi Antonelli will have a place in F1 in the future. But not this year.
He's already made the jump from F4 to F2 and now Mercedes wants him to do another jump from F2 to F1. And to a Mercedes! A dominant team that if he doesn't succeed will bring the team down and his self-confident down. They want to sign a child who has won 2 races, has a 50% pole conversion rate and is 7th in the championship.
WHEN THEY HAVE A F2 CHAMPION RUNNER UP, WHO'S ONE 5 RACES IN F2 AND HAS AN 100% POLE CONVERSION RATE IN FREDERIK VESTI!!!
Fred has had more experience in an F1 car than Kimi and is their reserve. Haas are signing their reserve, RB are signing their reserve, Alpine are signing their reserve. Why do Mercedes want to *be different* which will most definitely cost them in the future
LOOK AT HIM
How can you not want him?
hey siri play Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish
Logan: You ever see something that changes your life and you're just like "huh.."
Oscar: I saw you.
Logan: Honestly that's so cute and sweet but it kinda makes this awkward because I was gonna show you a picture of Alex in a turkey costume.
I can't believe it.
I'm absolutely distraught for Logan.

I am absolutely gutted for George. My whole family was rooting for him, I was so excited when he won.
Obviously, rules are rules but I am really furious at Mercedes for allowing this to happen. I know they want the weight to be as low as possible to go faster but I'm devastated for George.
And I am furious at people who are saying Lewis was robbed of a win. He was not. George called his own strategy and he was absolutely incredible with managing his tyres.
With another lap Lewis might've got it but he didn't. George is the future and he had an incredible drive today.
I am devastated for George. Hopefully he has another shot at Zandvroot
And it hits me suddenly
After this season, there will be no more Zhou and Valtteri
What am I going to do?
Crying in the club right now
Good on you for also acknowledging lando giving back the position. Now that lando also helped oscar, people need to stop saying lando "is always prefered" or "is a bratty teammate that doesnt help!" He did, he didnt have to because mclaren fucked up, not him, but he did give it up.
There has been a few times where the team have asked Oscar to give Lando a place + giving him upgrades first and all that but Lando has been at McLaren since the beginning and as Oscar is/was new so he would not be 'preferred' as such but McLaren want to give back what he's given them.
He definitely does help and I think what we did today was really a show of character and how much he does want the team to succeed despite all their screw ups.
I'm not sure if he was always planning on giving the space up and was winding the team up/making them realise what they messed up but it must've been very frustrating for both him and Oscar for it to end up this way.
Personally, I think he wanted Oscar to overtake him by catching up, not by letting him through my slowing down however the team having Will constantly be like 'Remember this' and 'Do the right thing' was not on. Andreas should've been the one or something, but overall I do have respect for Lando despite the fact he can be fairly emotional in times (today on the radio and post Spielberg as well)
Oscar and Lando did very well today despite McLaren's fuck ups and hopefully next time Oscar wins it'll be with his own merits and not McLaren's desperate attempts to do something
Watching the post race things and we've got another Sky Sports duo war.
First we've got: Jenson Button Vs Danica Patrick
Now we've got: Nico Rosberg Vs. Naomi Schiff
