I feel about heartstopper the way I imagine nick feels when he sees Tara and Darcy kiss in the middle of the party.

so happy and relieved to be able to see queer joy, but there’s a longing and a want to be able to stand in their shoes and be unapologetically ourselves the way Tara and Darcy are unapologetically themselves.

the feeling i feel is pretty similar. seeing queer joy as a queer person is heartstopping in the best way possible. but damn do I wish I had in high school what they have in the show

I know Kit Connor is the fan favourite (rightfully so, he bodied the role of Nick) but if we get a season 2 I know Joe Locke is gonna do so well with Charlie’s ED storyline.

charlie spring has such beautiful and endless patience for the people around him and i don’t think he gets enough credit for it. when he comes to understand and later confronts ben about the fact that ben was just using him he never once blames him for wanting to keep their relationship secret, or for being unsure, despite how much he’s hurt him. when nick is having his sexuality crisis charlie accepts him with open arms and just lets him figure things out at his own pace, not trying to convince him of anything or put a time limit on keeping quiet. when nick stumbles along the way, like running away at the party or accepting imogen’s invitation because he didn’t know how to say no, charlie still stands by him and hears him out, gives him a chance to explain himself and make things right without putting any pressure on him to come out. and in return nick continuously makes the effort to actually show charlie, not just tell him, how much he means to him and how much he values his time and support by doing things like showing up to the concert just to be there for him or inviting him out with his friends, even if that doesn’t always end well. when tao and the others meddle and come to misunderstandings charlie knows it’s all from a place of love and caring even if he’s upset. he may proceed with caution but he doesn’t hold things against people, not just from a lack of self esteem, but because he’s a genuinely, wholeheartedly good person.
