coffee shop or florist:
definitely coffe shop au for me as well!! it just makes more sense to me to fall for smo there, be it a coworker or a meet cute at ur fav coffee shop... and many more endless possibilities! it's also a place where you can easily go on dates for nostalgias sake. so a repeated coffee shop visit to reminisce over the shared love for that space is always an option too, AND while enjoying some yummy drinks and pastries! all these being a bit less likely possible to do in the context of a florist shop...in my opinion at least
au or fix-it
ok so I've read some banger fix-it fics (albeit very rarely) so generally I do not hate them but... most of the time I do find them to be ignoring key elements of what makes the characters so special to me just for the sake of "fixing" things which don't need to be fixed in my opinion. basically stripping the important aspect of a character from them. Which isnt a bad thing, fanfics are here for fun and enjoying what you write!!!! but yeah it's simply not my cup of tea unfortunately and I much rather put the same characters I love thru all the different situations... so yeah to me it's more fun to see these characters in different contexts and see how they would handle all those different hurdles ppl (or even me) throw at them. the characters going thru all the different dilemmas is enrichment to me!
enemies to lovers or childhood friends
VERY hard choice, I love both a lot but by a veeery small margin I prefer enemies to lovers because of the tension tm. and also... idk I feel like there is something very beautiful about two ppl who are opposed to eachother (in a very strong way) still somehow against all odds finding common ground and learning to trust and love eachother. it's beautiful to me. that said I feel like it can also depend on the ship to me,, sometimes an enemies to lover fic simply does not fit certain characters and it is what it is.
angst or fluff
this will come as shocking news since i do love to torture my characters endlessly, but good lord I do crave that fluff and silliness more than anything in my fics. yes give be angst, give me characters working through their emotions and troubles, but good lord I need them to also be silly about it. That's partly because most medias I consume are already so angsty to the point of me wishing to see them in a more silly fluff context (and slightly fumbling ovwr it). Like I do crave to see that scarred character who has only experienced endless betrayal and loss to have a slight moment of peace and loveeee. make the blorbo experience happiness!!!
love at first sight or pining
ok i don't understand how one can't include the other here? to me love at first sight for one pov and then pining about it endlessly is just the most perfect scenario, especially if its mutual and they are so oblivious about it (they are sitting in eachothers laps and almost kissing constantly as they keep on teasing eachother, everyone around them wants to tell them to fucking kiss already). so... since I do like that pining part a lot I suppose pining it is! let them long for eachother endlessly, until they finally realise that their feelings are reciprocated
modern or historical au
yeah. both. so fun to see how they would act with different settings and just. then I can pretend that they truly are lovers in every lifetime, even in ours.
breakup and make-up or proposal and wedding
yeah no im totally not a fan of the former. and the proposal and wedding isnt typically smth I look for in my fanfics but honestly? it can be cute... and I do love that for the characters... pursuing their future together, bound by not only fate but their own vows. it's sweet.
getting together or established relationships
i LOVE the process of the characters getting together in the fics!! like the journey there matters more to me than the end goal honestly... mostly because I love seing how the characters would try to woo eachother or go about courting the other(s). to me its more fun to read about the tension and about how the characters fumble epically (in an endearing way) than to read about characters being already lovey dovey together... id rather read bout how they got to find themselves in their relationship than about the relationship itself.
soulmates or unrequited feelings
unrequited feelings is the kinda angst that I rly can't read, soulmates all the way. It's fun and it means more that just romantic bonds to me as well... and the characters being soulmates in every universe, every reality, every timeline.... its such a beautiful thought... they can find eachother over and over again.
fake dating or secret dating
FAKE DATING FAKE DATING FAKE DATING!!!!!! LET THEM GET A TRIAL GLIMPSE OF WHAT THEY COULDA HAVE AND THEN YEARN FOR IT BIG TIME!!
obvious pining or domestic fluff
wooferoni another hard one for me... but gosh I'm simply such a sucker for a pathetic blorbo who yearns and pines so deeply.. not knowing that the one they pine for would reciprocate so willingly if only they knew... also if they end up in a domestic fluff situation afterwards thats a big plus to me!!
hurt/comfort or crack
as i said. i like my silly goofiness. no hurt only clownery- (jk i do love my hurt/comfort occasionally but i do thrive on the more lighthearted stuff...which have a lil smidge of hurt/comfort sneaked in)
meet the parents or meet-cute
most blorbos of mine either have dead parents or awful parents and veeery rarely parents that make me go "yeah. they gotta meet the partner actually". its usually a funny situation but yeah idk i suppose it doesn't appeal to me much.
