long time no see
It's been a year since I last used tumblr, and a lot has changed.
Firstly I now have a Masters Degree in Primate Conservation, I have been working with Ecoparque el Fenix's spider monkeys almost consistently whether it be in person or from home, I have lived in a two-man tent with my boyfriend for three months in Mexico in 40 degree heat, I have shared a bucket bath with him for those three months, and I have not killed him, in fact it was the most fun I've had with any human being in my whole life. I have finished my thesis, handed it in, and now...well now I have hit reality.
Now I am living in my parents house, on job seekers allowance, unable to persuade people to interview me let alone get a job. But what goes up must come down as they say, and for me the only way from here must be up-I mean, seriously, it can't get much worse can it? This time last year I was preparing for the field, living and studying in Oxford, in my own flat, and now I'm here.
I'm not really sure what else to do other than keep on trying.

This is my new monkey project, I work with rehabilitating spider monkeys that have been rescued from the pet trade in Mexico. The above link is to my website, and I really wan’t (and need) some feedback from you all.
Just simply take a look at the site, meet my monkeys and have a browse at the life of a wild spider monkey, then take a 5 minute questionnaire of what you thought of it.
It takes just five minutes and it will really help out a struggling sanctuary, by letting me know what you want to see on a rescue centre’s website.
All feedback greatly appreciated, just follow this link to answer:

Oh and the monkeys say thanks! :)

My sister is a scientist of the animal kingdom.
She travels all over the world studying monkeys, in rainforest or up mountains or what have you.
Obviously.
She has a website that she has built to help save monkeys lives, please check it out and then answer this quick survey, it only takes 5minutes and every single survey means a lot to her, she’s working so hard, i’m dead proud of her. If you could do it, the Hoopers would appreciate it.
Thank you.
Now, i’m off to the studio shortly for day 1 with the producer. Interesting.

jet lag is not my friend
landed in mexico
currently sat in a flat in the old olympic village in mexico city, very tired but overall feeling well (could use a reassuring hug and a cup of tea) but very good all the same. i will be in the city for a week before travelling to the forest, got a lot to be getting on with, think it will be another early night tonight :)
well isn't third year fun!
Chytridiomycosis via Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis infection.
I pleasantly surprised myself (and frightened myself) when I read that journal and understood 90% of it, and what I didn't understand was mostly the details but I got the gist of it. Feeling a lot better about the exam now, as there's loads of helpful hints and tips in there!
Just two weeks until third year exams are over, and I'll be a graduate heading to Mexico by myself to train as a primatologist.
Also, found out that I have been invited to attend a genetics course (for free!) as well as to assist with conducting MRI scans on monkeys, then i'm helping out in a zoo with issuing enrichment for the captive primates, and then we each get a donkey to ride into the forest on! Oh yeah, and I have also been asked if I want to attend a week long course in tropical field techniques at the beginning of July...hell yeah :) Then its dolphin breeding season at the lagoon, I honestly feel like these things are being offered to someone else, I am so exited.
The next three months are looking very exiting! Then it is home to the UK in September to start my Masters in Primate Conservation (got an unconditional offer last month) and to move in with with my boyfriend of 3 years. Life is looking pretty good, I am really happy.
I do have the hospital tomorrow, to get all my test results back including the CST, capillaroscopy, x-rays and blood tests. I am quite nervous about that, but I am concentrating on all the good things to keep me busy and preoccupied until tomorrow :)

need a counter signiture for my passport by someone who has known me for 2 years. fucking rediculous, passports are meant to enable travel but apparently if you travel enough that you dont know people for more than 6months at a time, your not allowed to leave the country.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH FKN PAIN
i dont know whats wrong with me today
shot out of bed thismorning, got all my books out and haven't been able to sit down long enough to read any of them.
i am so destracted! its like ive got ants in my pants, i literally havent done any work but i dont even know what i have been doing instead.
not a lot of motivation today
im sick to death of reading about anthrozoology, if i have to read another journal about people dressing up their cats i think i might vom.
