Nike to release “Pro Hijab” for Muslim women in spring 2018

On the heels of its campaign ad featuring Muslim athletes, Nike is taking a stand against discrimination. 

The athletic wear company announced the release of the “pro hijab,” Al Arabiya English reported on Monday.

“The Nike Pro Hijab may have been more than a year in the making, but its impetus can be traced much further back, to an ongoing cultural shift that has seen more women than ever embracing sport,” a statement from Nike said, according to Al Arabiya English.

The “pro hijab” is set to be released in spring 2018. Its creation follows years of controversy regarding Muslim women keeping their hair covered during athletic competitions. Read more (3/7/17 11:10 AM)

I had an interesting moment at work today. I was taking the elevator down with a coworker on my way to get lunch. I was dressed how I’ve been dressing all training camp, which is shorts and a Tshirt. Well today i had a sweatshirt because its sooo cold in our office. I was leaning against the side of the elevator with my sunglasses on just standing minding my own business. So my coworker looks at me and goes dam sam you look cool like that. You could get yourself a wife lookin like that. I didn’t say anything, kinda chuckled and she followed up by asking if i was into guys or girls. My sexuality has never been questioned at work, probably because people just assume im gay because i work in a super male dominated industry and lets be honest not many girls genuinely love the game of football the way i do.  She by no means was vicious in her statement or anything like that. I actually found the whole thing really funny because in my head i was thinking well that would be cool if i did haha.
