MONIKA SHOT BELLAMY AN APOLOGETIC LOOK, feeling terrible for her part in the ordeal. For starting the whole inconvenience by mistakenly entering the wrong apartment number on her customer profile. It wasn’t something she normally did; she’d been living at her current address for several years. The only thing that might’ve played a role in her erroneous ways was an extra glass of wine or two, consumed while she clicked through all of her recommended items on Amazon in search of the right crafting supplies to re-stock her kit after making props for her class’ winter showcase performance. “I’m so sorry for all of this. And doubly sorry that it’s not a love match,” she added, laughing lightly. “Maybe next time, Bellamy.”
The laughter came easily again when he commented on the flour on her face. “Very funny. The break hasn’t started yet; I just like to get a head-start on my holiday baking. Actually, now that you mention it…” A thought occurring to her, Monika set the laptop down and turned back to the array of ingredients crowding the counter, focusing on the cooling rack instead of the parts that make up the whole ( and the volume of dirty dishes piling up in her sink ). “I’m trying out a new recipe ⏤ it’s a white chocolate maple blondie. I think it needs a bit more maple syrup, but you have an impartial palate, why don’t you tell me?” Plucking one of the squares up from where the tin had been set to cool, she held it out for Bellamy to take before jerking back suddenly. “Wait, you’re not allergic to nuts, right? Because I added chopped walnuts to it.”
Bellamy plays along, touching a hand to his chest and pulling a hurt face. “Oof,” he noises. Like the lack of a match is a blow to his chest. “I’ll live to see another day I guess,” he adds with a soft chuckle, easing his features into his usual smile. Not that he’s actively looking to get into a relationship again any time soon. He feels like, even with all of the time that’s passed since his last relationship, he still wouldn’t know what to say or do if he ever has to get to that point -- of being completely honest. About everything. His past isn’t the easiest thing to come clean about, and once Bellamy starts falling, the guilt starts building, and guilt has never been an easy thing for him to deal with. At this point, he feels like he’s destined to be single now. As punishment for the crime he committed in his teen years.
“White chocolate maple blondie?” He repeats, impressed he can even recall that many words for a dessert. “Well, someone’s getting fancy.” His lips curl upwards at a side in a half-smirk. “Don’t mind if I do,” he answers, pretty content he’s about to get a treat on top of settling an ‘issue’. Though, it wasn’t so much an issue, just something that needed clearing up. Just as he’s about to reach for the square piece of cake, his eyes widen when Monika pulls it away suddenly. But his surprised look returns to his easy smile quickly once he hears her question. “Nah, not allergic. To anything as far as I know. Though, I do claim to be allergic to olives but that’s just because I don’t like them,” he confesses, winking in jest.
“Brownie please?” He then says, holding both of his hands out for the square-shaped baked good, lips widened to the point that the dimples on his cheeks are visible.
