To be brutally honest, every time I talk about the 2005 movie adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, I don't want to be told how horrible it is, and, to truly enjoy the story, I must go and watch the 1995 mini-series.
I prefer the movie because the characters in the movie met with my expectations when I was reading the book. I imagined them to be youthful and lively. Keira Knightley's Lizzy was exactly that. She's loved and admired enough, but the one who gets the most heat from the 1995 stans is Matthew Macfayden. I mean, do seriously give the poor guy some break. He had the toughest task of the whole cast - to not copy Colin Firth and present his own version of an iconic character loved by millions.
Both movie and mini-series tell the same story with the different flavours and they can both be amazing. A lot of times people hating on the movie look like folks who are looking for the reasons to resent it. And I don't even want to mention how personal attacks go on full swing : "People who prefer movie are those who've never read the book!" No? Seriously? Assuming much? I prefer the movie because it's incredible and deserves all the love it gets (and much more).
“I loved her to the point of invention” is extremely fucking raw and I adore it.

One of my favorite things about Jane Austen is that she knew the real fear wasn’t running into some terrifying Frenchman or finding your lover’s wife in the attic…it was having to spend time with someone who is slighter cooler than you are, or playing piano in front of a critical audience, or thinking a picnic will be the perfect time for your jokes but then it isn’t
