The existential crisis of knowing you won’t be able to read all the books you want before you die.
Alice wasn’t exactly the most observant person on the planet, nor was their timekeeping great either. (Their best friend, Bunni, was always running late, so Alice overcompensated by always running early.) It seemed Alice was a little too early when they arrived at the library, certain that the time was half an hour later than it actually was, or that the library opened half an hour earlier than it actually did. They were in need of a writing space with as little distractions as possible, and knowing that a library first thing in the morning tended to have very few people, it seemed the perfect spot. When Alice heard Belle’s voice they stopped in their tracks, glancing at their wrist for a watch that wasn’t there.
“But the door is open,” Alice countered with a frown. If the library wasn’t open, the door would be closed, right?
Belle noticed how they checked their wrist for a watch but not seeing one, she found it rather odd but she didn't want to show it. "Yes the door was open we recently like a week ago decided to extend the library hours at night versus in the morning given it is the summertime and people tend to want to sleep in longer than they used to in the other seasons." she said hoping it made sense before saying "we can let it slide today, I'm Belle." she said nodding her head.

“Aw fuck,” Hallie said, before grimacing, realizing she probably shouldn’t curse in front of a librarian. “Shit, I mean, sorry. I just … I don’t have anywhere else to go right now, so is it cool if I just hang out here?” She shifted the strap of her messenger bag across her chest. “I just got a lot of work to do. I got super behind in school cuz I caught mono … I promise I won’t check out any books until you open, I really just need a quiet place to study.” She offered the woman a smile, hoping that would make up for her slip earlier.
Belle wasn't a prude but the language out of the young woman's mouth did catch her off guard this morning, she tried her best not to widen her already big eyes at the other "Well I suppose if it's just a few minutes we have a lovely set of high backed chairs, that are rather cozy and the best wifi is over there as well. " she said pointing to the back corner of the shop "is that good for you? And if you ever need a quiet place to study you can always come here. Although it isn’t entirely quiet and you aren’t allergic to cats are you?"

Belle: Well I typically hang around after closing hours so anytime works for me.
Gaddiel: so tell me what are these books about?
Belle: Well I know how much you love music right? I mean you still love music, don't you?
Belle: No matter they are good books anyway just a few biographies about recording artists I thought would pique your interest.

“Oh sorry” Chip said quickly “the door was open, so I thought - “ he bit his lip a little “Oh umm my mom said I should stop by and see if you wanted these” he held up a bag, suddenly remembering why it was he was there “They had some leftover bakery items from the cafe yesterday. They’re still good, but we just can’t sell them two days in a row, so she took some to give out.”
Belle felt awful for making Chip feel uncomfortable "Oh don't be sorry I'm sorry, I should have kept the front door locked. It's my fault I just go into auto pilot when opening but with the new hours it's messed me up. I really should put a reminder on my phone to not unlock them right away." she said before looking over at him and smiling "merci, Chip, thank you that's very kind of you."

There’s something truly beautiful about opening an old book with a battered spine and worn out, discoloured pages.
Belle was on cloud nine, she could have danced in the street on the way to the Library, but she couldn’t celebrate just yet, she had to breathe and work more on the novel before she could even think about it being published, but the fact that she had a potential publishing company wanting to potentially publish what she considered the greatest love story of all time, the love story between her mother and father, it was enough for her whole day to be 1000 times better than it could have been, nothing could trample on her good morning. She skipped into the Library bent down to feed, Webster and Dewey before she went to the front desk and began to write again when someone came into the entrance “Hello, we aren’t quite open yet, but you are welcome to come back in a half hour?”

Gaddiel: A few, huh? Maybe I'll stop by this afternoon. What time does the library close again?
Belle: Well I typically hang around after closing hours so anytime works for me.

Belle: Hey friend, I just thought I would check in on how you were doing? I have a few books here at the library that might be up your alley if you want to stop by?
