To all BA-CON friends and family…
We have had the pleasure of serving Bellingham as the premier anime event for the past 7 years, starting as a humble meeting at the local library to an all-day event encompassing an entire college campus. We’ve had nothing short of a blast bringing you the best of events, vendors, and artists this wonderful town has to offer. It’s been a great ride for myself, personally, the staff involved, and for the community of Bellingham.
However, due to personnel and financial issues beyond our control, the BA-CON Board of Directors (myself among them) have decided to close down and cancel the 2018 convention and halt all operations indefinitely. This decision did not come easy or overnight, but through tough deliberation, troubleshooting, and outside consulting to decide the best course of action for BA-CON and that is to close down. Our Staff has been notified and we all believe this is the best course of action but will continue to be active in the community as individuals with a passion for friendship and anime.
Do not lose hope as several projects will be branched off into other production companies and clubs while the Facebook page will remain up for others to share events and showcase their wonderful cosplay. As the Director of Publicity, I will maintain the Facebook page for a while, answer all inquiries and questions, and get all the photos and videos up for all to enjoy. With any luck, we hope to see another anime convention take our place in a few years but, for now, we thank everyone in Bellingham and beyond for the great contribution to what was a very personal event for all of us at BA-CON. We could not have done this without you and, in no way, are any of you responsible for our closing.
May you all find success and happiness in your future endeavors, bring smiles to those you encounter, and in the words of Kenshin Himura, “Whatever you lose, you’ll find it again.”-Tim Rodenberger Director of Publicity Bellingham Anime Convention
