Grace Glenn fell in the leadoff position and all I can think is maybe they’ll finally move her from leadoff to 5th.... :)
My hot take as a Kyla Ross stan since 2012:
Mykayla Skinner should’ve won Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2017
What did Nikita do to his appearance?
I used to think Nikita and Artur looked nothing alike but I saw some photos from Stuggart where I had trouble telling them apart. Halp!
Hilarious that there are actual trump supporting gymnasts that y’all don’t call out and yet you choose to associate some other gymnasts with him just because you don’t like them
I don’t really know Chinese but I know enough to know that Chen Yile’s name is 99.9999% written incorrectly for the Olympic Channel’s series
Never in a million years would I have guessed McKenna Kelley to be the least problematic of the top 3 LSUGym 2019 seniors
Her post about depression wasn’t the best, but also wasn’t as problematic as it could’ve been given her problematic past / as many people are interpreting it to be tbh because of her problematic past (and probably still problematic present)
Hilarious because
when I first saw Sarah’s tweet I was upset that someone whose character I’d written off was doing something so noble. And thinking I’d have to rethink my support of SF-the-person. L.o.fucking.l. As someone who’s scrolled thru Sarah Finnegan’s boyfriend’s scary Twitter way back when, I’ve just been waiting for the rest of the gymternet to catch on to Sarah’s (probably-at-the-time, definitely-now) uber-conservative views. But wow this is wilder than anything I could’ve imagined.
What rock was I living under when Nebraska moved to 18th?
Forever waiting for Gracie Kramer to get a 10 on floor.
Did Anne Maxim really give up a scholarship to be a walk-on?
Natalie Wojcik got a 10 for a routine that totally wasn’t a 10 and I am highkey okay with it
PS. Just because Sarah Finnegan didn’t get a 10 doesn’t mean LSU doesn’t get overscored.
Opinion on “overscoring”
From reading Twitter and the comments section of blogs, I see a lot of instances of “OU and UCLA are overscored compared to Florida/Georgia/LSU/insert X school” and I’d just like to put out the perspective that they’re all overscored and in some instances these other schools are being even MORE overscored *gasp* [calm not - I didn’t say always and I’m not denying the boatloads of overscoring these two schools receive because it’s massive and not always evenly distributed]
Just because a school hasn’t received a 10 yet doesn’t mean it’s not receiving its fair share of overscoring - or even more so. If a score gets a 9.85 when you saw more than enough deductions to give it a 9.7 - that’s a whopping .15 overscore! And when that happens many times over and gets the school to a 195/6/7 it may look like nothing next to a 197.8 or a 198.1 but it was still a whole lotta bad math. And in some cases a ton more bad math than that 197.8. So while I get the rage against OU and UCLA, what I’m really here to say is - why is no one mad at LSU and Georgia and Florida? I would argue that all 3 schools are not performing at the same level they performed in years past but are still getting great scores because of their reputation and people are just like “you were ROBBED. LOOK AT UCLA”. I’m kinda more mad at their overscores than I am at OU [although I will say I’m really upset at the high af scores continuously given to some athletes there just because of rep - share that overscore love!] and some UCLA scores [I just really want Gracie Kramer’s floor to get the same love (ahem high af not always deserving scores) her bigger name teammates get]. Someone dumb it down for me because it seems like I’m just not getting it.
Honestly, I think all five of the aforementioned schools are egregious beneficiaries of overscoring and continue to be so. I really just feel bad for Utah and Bama, honestly.
honestly, these stick whatyouhaveits that teams are giving their “stuck” landing athletes may be hilarious and memeworthy to us but are honestly SO smart of the teams to do bc if there are some questionable landings that could be seen as sticks and the team breaks out the stick prop the judge could honestly be swayed to call it a stick just because of that
just watching lsu/aub now and from the scores I was wondering if auburn had a lot of homecooking on their bars routines but wow their routines were money this rotation.
I always forget how short gymnasts are when I watch streams, but I was at the Birmingham airport and when a group of really short (and really young looking IRL) women walked past me in michigan gear I immediately thought it must be the gymnastics team lol
