Open letter to Chris pratt

Dear mister Pratt,                 First off thank you for everything you’ve done, you’re hilarious and amazing in all your projects. Secondly this month is my 26th birthday and every year for my birthday I like to do random acts of kindness to garner luck and good faith for this upcoming year. This year with the help of my local comic shop (boomerang comics) I’ve decided to donate a bunch of toys and comics to a local children’s hospital. Recently I remembered reading online how you took your costume in hopes of using it to bring joy into people’s lives, and I’ve read about your recent visits to hospitals and such. Now I know that there is a very slim chance of you reading this. But if you do it would be a great honor if you would come with us to the children’s hospital to deliver the toys and comics to help brighten the lives of a few kids who could really use it. If I do somehow get lucky enough to have you read this and you are interested I would love to hear from you so we can make this happen. Mid-day

 I stumble out of bed after a few failed attempts at sleep. It’s about this time most people would start to get hungry and crave breakfast not my body. After sever stress or trauma my body gives up on food entirely. The thought of food actually begins to sicken me. I ate yesterday night or at least attempted too but the food didn't really stay down all too long, my body knows that food isn't needed right now. If I eat while stressed I’ll over eat and that's the last thing I need. I head to the kitchen and grab my thermogenics. It’s a pink powder you stir into water; it promotes body heat and calorie burning and energy as it's mostly caffeine. I take it before I go running and it helps me to keep running even when tired. After a few minutes I drink the now pink chalky liquid. It says its fruit punch flavored but I have my doubts. After taking it you need to relax for about 30 minutes due to the extreme dosage of caffeine. I sit on my computer, browse tumblr, twitter, my prop building sites, I send a few FB messages to people just hoping to keep my mind busy and off of other things. Now about 15 minutes into the 30 the caffeine really starts to hit you. You get really jittery, your heart beats a mile a minute, and your hand starts to quake just a bit. It’s like downing 6 red bulls all at once. It’s an exhilarating feeling. It makes me feel... anything actually. It’s one of the few times in the day where I start to feel something again. But after about 10 minutes the high wears off and it's back to normal. I begin to get dressed for the gym, unplug my iPod, put in ear buds and walk down stairs to the gym. To call it a gym is laughable at best. There are 2 treadmills, an elliptical, a stationary bike, and maybe half a dozen weight machines. But it's more than enough for me. I stretch and hop on the treadmill. 40 minutes, 3 miles, 325 calories. Same routine every time I go. 10 minute mile, 10 minute half mile, repeat. About half a mile in my shin splints start to show and I start to falter. Now this happens every now and again. I’m not sure if it is the lack of food in my system or the fact that my shoes are pushing half a decade and the bottoms have been glued on more times than I care to count. But as always I push through the pain. Now I’m not running for the usual reasons. Sure losing weight would be nice, and toning would be cool. But the main reason I’m running is the endorphins. I have very few stress management techniques, and I've always been told that running gives you a rush of adrenaline and a rush of endorphins. I personally have never experienced this but that doesn't mean I can't try. I turn my music up to drown out the footsteps. Adele - skyfall comes on in my shuffle. I can't help but crack a smile. I honestly don't understand my infatuation with Adele. Her music isn't by any means terrible but why do I enjoy it this much. I push through the rest of my workout and stumble off the treadmill. I crawl up the stairs begrudgingly head to the bathroom and lay in the shower for a bit. My body is weak from the workout and I need to just relax. I lay here for about 20 minutes letting my body readjust to what is normal. I count the tiles in the shower... 240 not counting half tiles. I look at my arm the scars glistening in the sweat and water. The mistakes I’ve made are innumerous. I get out, throw on some boxers, have a glass of water and contemplate what to do with the few hours I have before I have to go to work and pretend to be normal. If only life were easier.

mornings.

I feel the cool air brush my face gently as I awake. The beads of sweat that roll down my brow are now chilled by the air running from the fan. Although I was burning with an intense heat all night my body is now remarkably cool. I reach for the blanket to cover myself but they are not enough to warm the chill that has overcome me. I curl into the fetal position hoping to retain what warmth I have but it is all for naught. I can rapidly feel the warmth leaving me. I rouse myself from bed, meander to the closet eyes still half closed from the sleep and fetch another blanket. I toss the blanket onto the bed and began my seemingly endless journey back. Although my bed is only a few steps from my closet it feels like a mile. Before I make it back to bed I realize I have to go to the bathroom as is the usual morning affair. While I don't particularly care to leave my room I know I shall not ever get comfortable in this state. I slide on a pair of boxers and make my way to the door. I crack it at first to make sure no one can see my shirtless visage. I slink into the restroom and close the door. I look down at the floor, carefully avoiding the mirror. I haven't actually looked myself in the eye in a long time, and today was not the day I would start again. I made use of the restroom and quickly slinked out. Now back in my room I notice a calm silence. A silence like I have not felt in a while. Admittedly I have not allowed myself the time to remain silent lately as I do not wish to be alone with my thoughts, but this silence felt different. I could hear the fan blades spinning, the gentle dull hum of my computer’s hard drive spinning, and the ties in my closet flapping in the breeze created by the fan. Some may find such silence calming I however found it eerie. Silence is just a gateway through which terrible thoughts flow through me. I made my way back to bed and covered myself with both blankets. I rolled over to my iPod and turned on some music to drown out the silence. I didn't particularly care what came on, so long as it was sound. I surveyed my surroundings attempting to remember who I was. Not that I do not know myself, but I just needed a sense of reality. I needed to feel that the world was still turning and that my life was still going on. I noticed the few posters I have, the book I still haven't finished, the half-finished prop I am building, the fan ever turning. Life was still the same. I rolled over to my mobile and looked at the time. It was 5:07 a.m. I had only slept for about two hours. I knew today was going to last forever. I laid my head upon my pillow and attempted to sleep. However I knew sleep wouldn't come. Sleep is a luxury afforded to those with the ability to shut off their minds and relax for a night. A luxury I can no longer grant myself. After an hour or so of no sleep and terrible thoughts clouding my mind I decided to give up this futile quest for sleep and awaken and begin the day. So now I sit here praying this day goes well and that everything will once again be normal. Although I know it won't be, not for a very long time.

5 nightmares

There are only five things in this world that keep me up. Nightmares if you will. Not actually dreams, but things that prevent a good night’s sleep. Last night I couldn't get much sleep because of these. One of these was losing someone I care about.

  A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to turn one of my best friends into my girlfriend. I had never been happier. She was, and is, the perfect girl for me. We get along amazingly, we can talk about anything, and we are completely open and honest. However the other day she started to be quieter and less open. This concerned me a bit, but when I asked her she assured me it was all fine. As it turns out, it wasn't really all that fine. Her Ex had come back in her life and asked for her back.

  Now I know I treat her well, and that she cares about me. I also know her history with her ex and her feelings towards him.  What I do not know is what is going to happen next. I want her to be happy, even if it is not me that makes her happy. But I also do not want to lose her. She completely turned my life around for the better. Just her existence in my life made it better. She is such a sweet and caring person and I know she doesn't want to hurt anybody's feelings, mine or her ex. and she feels like she is in a lose lose situation. The worst part of it all is if we do break up, she won’t even be able to be my friend anymore because of the history we now have and how her ex hated the fact her and I talked. So not only would I lose a beautiful, smart, amazing girlfriend, but I would also lose one of my best friends.

  That is the nightmare that kept me awake at night last night.

So I called her, and I said, “Hey, this is Jimmy Doohan. Scotty, from Star Trek.” I said, “I’m doing a convention in Indianapolis. I wanna see you there.”

I saw her — boy, I’m telling you, I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was definitely suicide. Somebody had to help her, somehow. And obviously she wasn’t going to the right people.

I said to her, “I’m doing a convention two weeks from now in St. Louis.” And two weeks from then, in somewhere else, you know? She also came to New York - she was able to afford to got to these places. That went on for two or three years, maybe eighteen times. And all I did was talk positive things to her.

And then all of the sudden — nothing. I didn’t hear anything. I had no idea what had happened to her because I never really saved her address.

Eight years later, I get a letter saying, “I do want to thank you so much for what you did for me, because I just got my Master’s degree in electronic engineering.”

That’s…to me, the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

I am the luckiest human being alive

I have no doubt in my mind that i have been very lucky in my life. I have been given great opportunities. I've gone to E3, i have amazing friends, i have a good job, i have met some of the coolest people in the entire world. 

Yet lately i have always had this dark cloud follow me around. This cloud has surrounded me for several months now, and it seemed i just couldn't be happy again. i had all but given up hope. but now life has removed that cloud. I'm not only happy again, but i'm happier than i have been in... probably all my life. I wake up with a smile. I'm actually excited for the day. I go to bed with a big smile on my face. It's so strange to me, to actually be genuinely truly unequivocally happy.

change

So after a month on my diet and exercise regime i am noticing a slight change in appearance. I've lost a little but no where near as much as i had estimated after one month. So i'm deciding to change it up a bit. supplement a few things, and increase workout load to 2 times a day 6 days a week in a vain attempt to actually get where i need to go by the time i need to be there. with any luck this new regime will be helpful in the coming month.
