I think bread is a super underrated invention. I am very grateful to the ancestors for bread. I bet it was a lot of work to figure it out and everything.

the thing about being alive on planet earth is that there will always be a first day of spring. not necessarily the equinox and its celestial tidings, but that first warm day. the sun's out, you can smell the green of the earth and the richness of the soil and you see the very first bee of the year and you end the day with sun-touched skin and a mental catalogue of all the plants you saw on your commute home. it feels so very much like being welcomed back into the world. a reunion of you and every other living thing

I tried distracting a vampire by throwing rice at him, but I only had two grains with me so it didn't work. He counted them instantly. Then he asked me what I was even doing with exactly two grains of rice, and I explained how a bowl of rice tastes better if you spread it out over an entire day. I asked him if he was gonna suck my blood but he said no, he just had a lot more questions about the rice thing.
