What a simple and functional tiny house! There’s a large eat-in kitchen and bathroom, two lofts, stairs and a living room. All within 8 x 20 feet. Wow!
We need an app like this for the US!
Honeybees are under threat globally. Here's how indigenous knowledge and management can strengthen ecological integrity.
While honeybees are being wiped out across the globe, research shows the bees are faring much better in Africa.
It’s not surprising that the bees are doing better here, the article says. Traditional African beekeeping integrates intimate knowledge of the natural environment and the hive building traditions of indigenous communities. Beekeeping in Africa isn’t about conforming to the “agro-industrial practices and mindset”, but supplementing livelihoods and community needs.
Just a simple A-Frame cabin in the woods
Mt. Colden is visible centered in background.
My new desktop background . . . I stumbled across this great photo on Flickr. The Adirondack High Peaks of New York State is one of my favorite places, and an interesting landscape too. It’s a wilderness area often visited to see a rare place “untrammeled by mankind,” and yet people have dramatically shaped the Adirondack landscape throughout history. Even Marcy Dam Pond, shown above, was created by a man made dam. But after a storm, the dam was torn down, and the pond and this beautiful view no longer exists.
I wrote an article about this on my website. You can read it here: benxd.me/writing/are-the-adirondacks-really-forever-wild/
People often wonder how they can help save the bees, but we really can't save individual bees. Instead, we can save their environment and their homes.
A nice article about what we need in pollinator conservation: not just bee gardens and good habitats, but connected habitats.
Another great tiny house from Tiny House Baluchon in France.
Still one of my favorite tiny houses.
Update: More photos found on this website. Still our favorite tiny house!
A perfect hideaway in the trees 🌲
I love the simplicity of this camping shack and its gorgeous views! Designed by Broadhurst Architects.
Update: Floorplan found! A wonderfully simple cabin, but with everything you need.
A relatively small number of fossil fuel producers and their investors could hold the key to tackling climate change
Being Myself
I feel like I’ve been trying to fit in to this imaginary perception of who and what I should be versus who I actually am. But it’s so much better to be my true self.
I love this cabin! It’s small, well-designed, and a great mix of modern and rustic styles.
Biggest analysis to date reveals huge footprint of livestock - it provides just 18% of calories but takes up 83% of farmland
It’s simple . . . legalize industrial hemp!
