It’s in the Cards || Open
Francois always smiled a little more when someone got into the reading, much like this young girl, and seemed to take it seriously.
Unlike the older man earlier, who’d scoffed at the cards, this girl seemed filled with wonder over their power. Maybe she’d been taught as a child to fear the inanimate, or perhaps she had a good belief seeded in her.
Either way, when Facilier reached forward to flip her first card, he wondered himself how her cards were dealt.
The Six of Pentacles - Reversed
Francois hummed, not out of true interest but due to the read of how a usual teenager’s life would read.
“You were a teenager, possibly took advantage of what you could - which is not bad, but shows a level of immaturity. Your knowledge wasn’t as expansive as you’d thought at the time.
Perhaps you were always kind, but when you accepted offers, you found them more work than you had realized… but that is, as always, in the past,”
He reached over to the middle card, and raised a brow,
The World
“Ah, right now you’re going through a good amount of growth. You’re seeing your goals coming to fruition, and you’re seeing the world - this is a card of travel, and that means you’re in the midst or beginning of a new turn in your life, perhaps in love, but perhaps you’re seeking a change in scenery? Let’s see if it’ll be a good idea…”
The Knight of Cups - Reversed
“Oh, you should be careful of any new changes, girl,” he murmured, looking up from his thick black, perfectly shaped brows, “Though you want to believe or trust everyone, try to be careful with that- this is a water element card, so the future could brighten sooner than you think, but, right now? Take heed in advice of elders you trust, and make sure not to speak poorly of others - right now, it’s easier to be overheard and misunderstood,”
He gently tapped his finger back onto the World card, “but don’t fret, my girl, you’re young, and this deal is not your destiny. Only a moment in a long line of events,”
Ariel listened intently Francois relayed what the first card meant. Demurely she glanced down into her lap, clearly remembering all her most rebellious moments as a teenager. She’s still surprised today that her father never had a heart attack back then with how much he stressed about her well-being. Outwardly, her head bobbed up and down in a slow nod of confirmation.
The second card’s description piqued her interest however, eyes widening, her body moving closer to the table. Ariel’s wanderlust for the world hadn’t truly diminished, but she had staved it off for a while because of her love of Mythos. Maybe it related to her desire to officially try her hand at college. “There are a few of my oldest hopes I’m trying to make happen,” she commented, feeling quite awestruck.
Leaning back again, Ariel already felt worried by this gentle warning. For as long as she could remember, those close to her, with much more level heads, told her to be more caution and not so incredibly impulsive. Although she had calmed down considerably as she aged, Ariel could still make a number of rash decisions, giving hr trust to people she didn’t know all that well. Usually it worked out in her favor, but did this mean something bad was bound to happen to her? Would her luck run out on her as the saying went? “Right, yes, of course,” she stammered out a bit dumbly.
Glancing back at the middle card again, Ariel nodded slightly, feeling slightly better to have those worries disappear momentarily. She couldn’t help but love the thought of a big change in her life, feeling it was most likely due time. “Either way, thank you, Francois,” she told him sincerely. “This has been really enlightening, actually.”
