Roll call for tall dolls! These five girls looked at my 18 inch dolls and said, "why stop at 18 inches? Why not 19? Or 20? 21? Maybe even.... 22?!?!"
From left: Artemisia (Julie Good-Kruger brand), Fernanda (Karito Kids), Amy (Australian Girl), Althea (Vanange), and Natalie (Friends Forever Girls).
Today is a beautiful day. Not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light rebozo.
new historical releases are HERE!!!! i'm so hyped it's a bit silly, but i've been sick for the past two weeks so this is a nice break from the monotony.
i could ramble for ages about how happy i am, but i shall make a follow up post lol.
what are you most excited about about?
Addy's school outfit
Kirsten's school outfit
Sam's birthday outfit
Nanea's volunteer outfit

None of them are for me, but happy for you all!
Ellen is a talented ice skater. When the creek froze, she gave Ashlyn her first skating lesson. Ashlyn did great!
American Girl fans of Tumblr, what was your very first exposure to the brand?
Mine was finding a Meet Kaya book in my primary school's library.
My first was when my cousin, who I rarely saw as a kid, gifted me one of her American Girl catalogs when we had a reunion once. Instantly obsessed. 13 years later (almost 14), and I'm still obsessed.
My older sister pulled out her "Welcome to Felicity's World" book from the closet to show me stuff. She was very upset that Kaya wasn't on the cover but decided it must've been because Kaya wasn't out yet when the book came out.
I think my exposure was just getting a free catalogue in the mail as a kid. I got my first doll in 1996 for graduating kindergarten so it would have been around there I got the catalogue.
I wandered over to the chapter book section of the school library away from the rest of my class and saw the little American Girl display on top of one of the shelves, and checked out at least Meet Molly, my choice of her being "she looks like the most modern one." This was 1999 and I was in second grade so this was juuuust before Kit. Or at least, before the school library had gotten Kit.
Watching Kit's movie! I think it was actually quite a long time after that before I realized there was a doll line
I was six, and my mom gave me Samantha's Surprise and Samantha Saves the Day to read on the drive to my grandparents' house for Christmas. I think she got them at my school's book fair. I loved them more than I'd ever loved any other books. So I read through every single book in each historical character's series soon after that.
Summer 1990. I found the paper doll set (the OG one with Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly) in a museum gift shop.
Addy Walker’s Accessories
I based this one off of Molly’s collection. I’m really enjoying using AG stuff as inspiration.
I got a couple of coloring books and alcohol markers for Christmas. I decided to make this page into a modern version of Kirsten’s room. I think it’s my favorite one I’ve done so far.

Doll brands I never thought I'd own, part 6(?): WeGirls
WeGirls of the World is another rare and obscure brand of 18 inch dolls that I finally managed to track down. This was a European brand that only made dolls for (at most) four years, so I hadn't counted on actually, miraculously, randomly, stumbling across one of them for sale. But I did, and here she is!
This is Lidia Kozikowska. She recently immigrated here from Poland, which is where WeGirls is based. Check out the Polish text on her original box, which translates to "Girls like you! Have fun and change yourself and the world for the better! Beauty is within you!"
The dolls themselves were manufactured in Germany by Schildkröt, a renowned doll company. Because of that, I'm not surprised at the high quality. This doll is sturdy, her joints move smoothly, and she has eyes that open and close. Her hair is rooted, but it's dense and definitely not the cheap kind.
Overall I'm super impressed.
Lidia has an all-vinyl body. She can fit in American Girl (left) and Maplelea (right) clothes and shoes, although she is slightly slimmer than dolls of those brands. I'd say she's closer to the size of a Journey Girls doll. Her feet, though, are ever so slightly larger than most American Girl feet.
Her vinyl is very soft and squishy with a peachy tone.
It's so soft that her fingers bend easily, so they can hold this adorable pose.
Her face mold reminds me of some Maplelea dolls.
The two brands aren't affiliated, so it's just a fun little coincidence.
I took Lidia out to my favorite doll photography spot in the mountains and let her have a closer look at her new homeland.
I also let her test her equestrian skills, since she'll need them around here. She handled Horsefina very well!
She didn't come with a name, so the name I gave her was one I chose. I was looking at the most popular names given to babies in Poland last year, and was surprised at how many of them were also equally popular in North America. Lidia was #68 on Poland's most used names for babies born in 2023.
Alright doll fandom i need your help: I was out thrifting and found this little beauty. she has rooted hair, her eyes dont clothes, and she has a body with electronic components, and huge pink roller skates
she talks, although not in English (I don't know if shes from somewhere else or someone messed with the language settings) and is about 15 inches
i cannot find ANY information about what brand she is, so I'm asking you super duper sleuth-ers out there to help me find out what kind of dolly this is
I could be totally off base here, but I found a doll that I think looks like she could have the same face, and a somewhat similar frilly outfit.
She’s listed on eBay as “Animated Doll BbMyst meng xue Talking Doll” and the listing says she is from China. I wish the pictures were better.
EDIT: okay I looked harder at the listing photos, I think their hands also look the same and they seem to have the same pink shoes
finally got this photo taken a few days late, but we celebrate our pride everyday!
OK ag. you have now done the entire 20th century like you wanted. Now can you please can you do more 1800s/1700s dolls please? More dolls of color too, you were doing so well what the fuck happened
