Trip round a bit of China 2010 with Childreach International children's charity.
My footage not my music.
Little River by The Tallest Man On Earth
The Boy With the Arab Strap by Belle And Sebastian
Balcony by The Rumour Said Fire.
I hope I don't get arrested or anything for using this music, I usually use my own but I didn't have any spare that was appropriate, so sorry SOPA and PIPA.
Enjoy.
Footage taken on my Harinezumi camera while I was in China last year. Put together on an old version of iMovie.
It is mostly of The East Mountain Garden situated along the Jialing River above the ancient city of LangZhong, Sichuan. We were at the Dafo Temple that has a large Buddha from the Tang Dynasty carved into the mountainside which had a temple built around it.
With the noisy city below and across the river, once we entered the garden's ground everything left outside had the volume turned down, temporarily forgotten.
It was just myself, Harri, two buddhist monks and a kind groundsman who didn't speak a word of english but graciously showed us how we should pay our respects and maybe gain a little enlightenment.
It was possibly one of the most peaceful and humbling moments of my life, the kind of quiet rarely found, and in that moment I certainly felt a little enlightened.
For me, it was the highlight of my trip to China.
Other footage that has been mixed in is from LeShan (the Giant Buddha carved into a cliffside), Emei Shan (the holy mountain) and a busy street in Chengdu. All from the Sichuan region in China.
Music written and recorded by myself and Henrik Linde in his busy little factory in LA.
The piece is called "This is the end".
Thank you to everyone involved.
wake up / b porter / 2011
recorded at Henrik's busy little factory in LA Feb 2011.
latest version of my portrait / May 2011
You / b porter / 2010
recorded with Henrik sometime last year.
just remembered that the drums in this song was actually made by an old couch. it was in LA so it was a couch not a sofa.
Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.
Albert Einstein
Liar / 2011 / b porter
written and performed by me. with additional guitars, keys and produced by Henrik. as always, thank you my friend.
this is the end / 2011 / b porter
the fourth track recorded with Henrik Linde at his busy little factory.
This will be track 4 on an EP, if I get round to do that sort of thing. I will upload tracks 1-3 too, in reverse order so #3 will be next.
all played by myself and henrik, written mostly by me with Henrik helping in the way he always does, so thank you my friend for all input, it's always gratefully received and enjoyed.
This to me sounds like the end. so I would turn off the lights, put your headphones on and listen. let your mind wonder. it's a long journey but then it's usually the journey where you find something out about yourself. well hopefully before the end.
recorded Feb 2011 in LA.
nb photo was taken by me too / 2010
all done by me, circa 2006.
in Didcot. lots for sale, child's
bike chained to the gate,
family car, apples and
old books. the silence and the
resignation, simply bought.
this is about 10 years old. I remember recording it on to tape originally but this version maybe thru a sampler I think. was a while ago so I'm not too sure to be honest.
it reminds me of walking around a busy Baker Street in London on my lunch breaks from working in the basement of the Western Eye Hospital.
