Iraklis’ eyebrows knitted together at the poor sight of this place. It looked abandoned, and he was just about to turn back to his ship to make a scan for any kind of lifeforms on the planet’s surface, when the sound of a motor in the distance made him stop his train of thought.
The two other officers who had gone with their captain out of the ship were quick to draw their guns, and Iraklis did the same. Whatever had happened here showed a clear sign of conflict and dispute. And with someone approaching them after they had just landed, Iraklis couldn’t be sure if it was a friend or foe.
“Drop your weapon!” One of the officers behind Iraklis commanded, while the three of them held their guns pointed at the pale inhabitant, “You’re aiming your gun at a captain from the Intergalactic Planets’ Union!” Iraklis shouted, keeping his gun pointed straight at the stranger.
“We’re not your enemies, we come in peace for our yearly inspection!” He added, swiftly licking his lips while he kept a very commanding stare at the other man, “Now, lower your weapon, or you label yourself an enemy of the Union!”
While they had been shouting commands at the local man, more soldiers had appeared in the ship’s front opening with their weapons pointed in the direction of the pale man. Obviously, the sound of their captain shouting the way he had, had caused more members of the crew to come into view to back him up, should conflict evolve.
“OH, kindly shut it,” The man snapped at him, glaring at all of them. He did not lower his weapon, and he only held his ground more firmly. “We all fell for that once, are you lot stupid? Stonnis’ second rate men, I presume? You hit us with that line before - the IPU is not coming and does not give a rat’s ass about any of us, and if you think you’re going to trick us into believing that load of nonsense again, then you’re sorely mistaken.”
He did not seem intimidated or frightened by the men, instead, his gaze only deepened and he dug his heel into the ground deeper.
“You’ll die if you continue your insolance,” one of Irakalis’ shouted.
“Wonderful,” Gilbert snapped. ‘I will die before I let you charge through here and destroy what we’ve tried to piece back together. We have nothing for you now, I’ve said that! Return to your ships and leave us!”
