Pisa, Italy
From La Spezia Centrale station, we took a direct train to Pisa in one of the superfast trains – Frecciargento, which was an experience in itself. The views from the train were beautiful.
We reached in around 40-45 mins. Always remember to validate your tickets if they do not hold the seat numbers along with date and time of travel. You might be fined heavily, otherwise.

We took the high speed tgv from Avignon to Nice in around 3 hours. The views from the train are amazing as it runs along the coast and offers awesome views of the sea. It passes through the popular places of the French Riviera such as Antibes and Cannes.

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, France
L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a pretty little commune in Provence, Southern France and is easily accessible from Avignon. We boarded a bus from Avignon and reached in 40 mins. The river Sorgue passes through this town.

Avignon, Lavender fields in Southern France
We took an early bus from Lyon and reached Avignon in 3 hours. You can even opt for the TGV train which takes just about an hour to reach. Southern France is a whole another world when compared to the busy towns of Paris and Lyon. The town itself feels like a place from the fairy tale movies of Disney.

We started early from Lauterbrunnen as this was the longest base to base travel of our entire trip. We changed trains from Lauterbrunnen->Interlaken->Bern->Geneva. We reached Lauterbrunnen from Lucerne->Interlaken->Lauterbrunnen. The train system in Europe is exceptionally well-connected. The train travel itself is a very exciting part of your trip. The comfortable and spacious trains zooming past towns and villages offer great snapshots of the places passing by. We reached Lauterbrunnen in around 3 hours.

Mount Titlis, Engelberg, Switzerland
We started early at around 7:30 a.m. from Zurich HB. Mount Titlis can be reached from Engelberg quite conveniently. We reached Lucerne station from Zurich in an hour by train. We placed our luggage in the lockers available in the train station. Each locker can hold 2 big rucksacks and costs 7 euros for 24 hours. We boarded the train to Engelberg. It was a fun ride with amazing views and tunnels.

We used Zurich mainly as a base to cover the Swiss Alps and the beautiful village of Appenzell. Zurich can be reached Gengenbach–>Frieburg,Germany–>Zurich HB in just around 3-4 hours. There are many bus operators that operate in this route. We used the eurolines website to book our ticket from Freiburg to Zurich. The part from Gengenbach to Freiburg was anyways free because of the Konus card.
