"Are you sure you trust me enough for that?â
âOh! Oh, alright. I mean, you didnât have to steal, I could have just given it to you.â
âI feel more bad-ass if I think Iâm stealing it.â
âOh my, that is deeply worrying! Do you have any idea what happened to him? I was hoping to meet him soon. Warehouse? You sleep at a warehouse? Please tell me its comfortable, if not feel free to stay with me and my gals at the pack house. Weâd love to have you. Iâm sorry I donât mean to barrage you with all these questions.â
âHeâs probably just out doing errands or something. Itâs fine, really. We each have beds and theyâre pretty comfortible. Donât worry about it, Iâll manage.â
âAnd, Iâm stealing a drink of this.â
Isaac snorted, going into the kitchen to find something to snack on. He came out with a box of Cheese-its. âSo you couldnât go wave a hand over the passed out witch while she jumped at a demon with a fat ass? This is your own fault. If you want a massage hire a masseuse, or see about getting a shot from Deaton.â
Erica glared at the boy and rolled over onto her stomach. âI thought youâd be happy Iâve been trying to help people.â She took the pillow and hugged it to her chest, sighing as she hugged some of the soreness into the pillow. âUgh, why wont you just be nice for once? I thought we were pack.â
Isaac stood up, stretching his arms above his head, âNah, youâre fine. Or you will be. Donât be such a baby about it, you had an alpha there and you still thought you were the best option to go rip open a monster stomach. Should have used it to get a better idea about the competition.â
Erica groaned. âUgh, it wasnât my fault. The alpha was on the floor helping the damn witch who was passed out.â She looked at him, pouting. âOh come on! Please? At least give me a massage.â
âI think it was just a really deep cut so it needs longer to heal.â She shrugged. âIâll keep you updated, but I havenât seen my alpha in a while.â
âI hope thatâs all it is,â she stated, looking at the girl with genuine concern, âWhat do you mean? donât you live with him?â
"Yeah, I live with him, kinda. I'm mostly only at the warehouse when I need to sleep. And every time I've been there recently, I haven't seen him."
âHmmm, itâs taking a while and that troubles me. Keep me updated, if we have to we can find an emissary if the scar doesnât fade like it should. Does your alpha know?â
âI think it was just a really deep cut so it needs longer to heal.â She shrugged. âIâll keep you updated, but I havenât seen my alpha in a while.â
âSheâs fine, her mothers are taking care of her at her main house. How about you, have you fully healed yet?â
âMostly. Thereâs still a fading scar and Iâm sore, but Iâll be fine.â
âSame. But it was a good learning experience. I like to know who I can trust in this town.â
âI guess so. Oh, howâs Jade? Did she wake up?â
âSounds great.â Lydia said as she fixed her lip gloss in her compact mirror. âAnd if anything catches fire this time we have a lake near by.â She said as she paused to smile at Erica.Â
She laughed. âYeah, Iâm just hoping that the Sprigganâs mom isnât looking for revenge.â
Isaac leaned his hip against the sofa, really it was below his hip, but it served enough purpose for him to put his weight on one leg safely. âThe new werewolf packâs Alpha broke your armâ Derek is gonna love that story. And Lydia of all people, who we tried to kill, who hates you, saved your lifeâ well I am loving that story.â
Erica rolled her eyes and lied back on the couch, letting her sore body relax. âYouâre such a douche. Now get your ass over here and take some of this damn soreness away.â
Isaac gaped, open mouthed at her for a moment, then he rubbed his thumb against his bottom lip and swallowed hard, looking just over her shoulder for a moment before he managed eye contact again. âA Spriggan. And it did that to you?â He shook his head, barely comprehending what the thing was. âWhy the hell didnât your healing just start? And Lydia Martin jumped into a fire to save you? Are you sure you didnât somehow⊠get high?â
âI donât know-- I guess it cut too deep or something and it had to be triggered. So, an Alpha named Chloe broke my arm so it would start.â She groaned. Trying to explain something to Isaac meant that you were automatically thrown into the worlds longest talk show. âShe didnât jump into a fire to save me, she just got to me before the fire did.â
âWell, on the bright side it canât go any worse than the one last night.â She paused and gave Erica a soft smile, âIf you do end up throwing one I expect and invite.â She said. She laughed softly, she was kind of friends with Erica Reyes. She bit her bottom lip as she thought to herself, I guess there are some things you canât go through without becoming friends, saving someone from a fire was one of them.
âDonât worry, youâll be invited. I was thinking of throwing it at this little spot in the forest-- Itâs got a little lake made from a waterfall and itâs pretty damn cool.â
âYou went to a party?â He raised an eyebrow at her teasingly, âWho made a mistake like that?â
âI just-- Look, the party wasnât the crazy part. Itâs what happened.â She sighed and sat down, deciding it was best just to tell him. âAt the party, something snuck into the basement. It was called a Spriggan-- Ugliest fucking thing Iâve ever seen.â She sighed as she remembered the creature. âA spriggan starts out small, but the more it eats, the bigger it gets. The bigger it gets, the more it can eat. So, it was basically devouring the entire basement and was like twice my size when we found it. So, we needed to slice open itâs stomach to kill it. I came up with a plan for someone to distact it while I snuck in through the window back window of the basement and attacked it. Well-- My plan didnât exactly go so well. It flung me back and slice open my stomach, but I finally killed the little fucker.â She closed her eyes, leaning back. âThe house was on fire and I was still in the basement, I could barely walk. Lydia had to help me out even after we had just gotten into the biggest bitch fight ever. So, I was outside leaning on a tree, and someone had to break my arm so the healing process would start. And well--â She pulled up her shirt to show the scar across her stomach that was somehow still healing. âIt hurt like a bitch.â
"Oh, well heâs never been a nice guy,â he said as he just looked through his stuff before making sure everything was there. Planning on ditching, he just shrugged âHave fun, I guess,â since he never really ever ditched before. If he did, maybe one day heâll ditch.
Erica was about to walk away when she looked back to him. âYou want to ditch with me?â
âYouâre telling me. I mean Iâve been to quite a few parities in my day, but that wasnât like anything Iâve ever done before at a party.âÂ
âNo kidding.â She laughed. âMan, I was wanting to throw a party next weekend, but I donât know if I should anymore.â
