I'm in love with that bowl. He IS a good dog
Hygromenter?
I've had a manual one in my hermit crab tank for awhile now so I decided to get a digital one. However, I'm not certain that I'm using it right.
I got the "All Living Things" hygrometer, but it didn't have any instructions. I couldn't figure out how to mount the thing so I stuck a piece of tape on the back and popped it in the corner of the tank. Problem is though, that it's saying the humity level is 90% and the manual one says 70% (I vented the tank because of being unsure on it). However, the manual one is on the side where I let it vent and the digital is on the other side of the tank. Maybe the humidity levels differ on each side?

if you have any pets, go hug them now, play with them, tell them you love them, just a few strokes and a kiss are enough. remember the day you first met him/her? don’t let that feeling die. you are their entire life and they love you. they will always love you. make them feel loved too.

Lucky bamboo in planted tank?
So, I decided to make my 3 gallon into a planted tank so that I can keep some happy shrimps. I’m thinking about adding lucky bamboo in the back for looks. Only thing is that the lucky bamboo sold for aquariums is too short for me to add without them being fully submerged. In order to keep it alive, the leaves need to be above water. Do you think it would be safe for me to buy lucky bamboo from the local walmart garden center and put it in there? I think I’d have better luck in getting some that are tall enough. Also, do you think it would have any benefit for the shrimp at all? I feel like it probably wouldn’t.
I don’t know about getting it from the garden center, I don’t see what it could hurt but idk. And I see shrimp grazing on the bamboo at the pet store all the time. And I…think…? the roots can be decent hiding spots for them if they grow enough???
Reblogging for followers to weigh in and correct me/expand on it!
I would be careful about getting bamboo from a garden store, most places spray their aisles down indiscriminately. Depending on where it is in the store the chance of it having pesticides or chemicals are high. You could possibly still use garden store bamboo if you let it soak in another water source for at least a week or two. But I would suggest just using the aquarium bamboo. Put it in another container and allow it to grow until it reaches the appropriate height. Bamboo grows very fast under proper conditions. (alternatively you could find an organic garden store, but that may prove difficult, many are not truly organic)
as a disclaimer i know squat about fish, just horticulture and herpetology! I just wouldn’t suggest putting anything commercially grown in an enclosure.
Thanks! I'll try checking around some small aquatic shops before I try growing one up. And yeah, I was kind of worried about the potential chems x.x Thank you for the input!

Bettas are so pure
and by pure I mean fueled by pure anger
Dragon has passed away the other day. After battling against what I believe to be lymphocystis for about a year, his fight has ended. Upon that night, I had him cremated.
R.I.P Dragon 26 June 2015 - 27 July 2017
Bought two of these really great water dishes for my crabs! Since they have a ramp, they can easily get in to get water or bathe. Plus since they're made from a hard rubber, I won't have to replace them due to chipping paint
Sorry about the glare, but I'm really happy to have gotten to see this *0* Dragon hasn't been the same for a long time. He stays almost exclusively at the top of the tank and I've tried all methods of cleaning and medicating. His tail has grown into a feathertail and has become so heavy that some of the rays in it are broken. He's had a tumor which had grown for a year and then somehow shrank away, but he still has a scar from it. Anyways! I haven't seen him sleep in his anemone in a long time :'D
My female betta, Commander Phoenix, is dead... I don't know how or why, but I'm going to do a deep clean of the tank and go buy a new bab so that my guppy, Creamcicle, doesn't go crazy from loneliness x.x It was very unexpected because she was perfectly fine yesterday
Kuhli loach questions
Would they make a good tank mate for a betta? How many can I keep with the betta in a 60gallon? Also any special things I should know about them?
Yes. Quite a large number assuming you are only planning on keeping one betta with them… I have 10 in my 20 gallon. A sand substrate is recommended. I also recommend lots of hides as the more hides the more they will come out
Thanks! I probably won't get more than 10 xD
