Sometimes Daisy wondered if she’d done something horrible in a past life.
Her powers weren’t new to her anymore, she’d had time to adjust to the fact that they were there, but controlling them wasn’t something she was nearly ready for. It was hard enough to grapple with the questions. Where they’d come from, what she was, who the hell her parents had been. Criminals of some sort, apparently. But that was all she’d been told. And it did little to help her contend with her ever changing sense of identity.
She was strong, she was smart, she knew that much. But her flaws piled up in a rate that made her nearly crazy. How the hell was she supposed to learn to control her powers if no one would take the time to explain what the hell she was. A genetic mistake, was the best she could come up with, and that wasn’t comforting in the slightest.
Letting out a rough sigh, Daisy changed her stance, standing her ground as the tiles of the gym floor shook gently beneath her feet. “Stop. Stop it." She muttered in frustration, clenching her jaw and hitting the nearest punching bag, which proved to be a mistake when it practically exploded as she sent a tremor through it. “Damn it…" She sighed, flexing her hand and taking a breath as she tried to cool off. “Well that’s just fantastic…."
The gym was a quiet place, usually. Even if it was filled with busy souls, the nearly always had their own agenda to stick to, so they never bothered the wallflower-esque bottle blonde in the corner. That was the way Lorna liked it however, quiet and mundane was one of her few favorite things about her lifestyle. However, her daily workout routine was cut abruptly short by a shaking which originated a couple of meters away from her.
Her first thoughts went straight to an earth quake, as a Californian girl, Earthquakes certainly weren't anything new to her--yet the land around the school was tectonically stable. And she knew that, personally, after studying the earth in the nearby vicinity herself. A small frown spread across her face, contorting her face ever so slightly. She would have just shrugged it off as someone getting their ass handed to them by some freak with super human strength, but a second rattle caught her attention.
Turning off the treadmill, she headed towards the epicenter of the shake. The green lines of the EM field guided her towards the disturbance, even if she hadn't felt the quake the Electromagnetic fields had been artificially contorted enough that it made her feel sick.
"You alright?" She asked, in her usual bored tone, before glancing around the workout area a bit more., a curious look in her eyes. "D'you know what caused the shake?" The question was rushed, and had come out of her mouth before her mind had processed words. Though she'd be lying if she said she wasn't interested.
Ah wouldn’ really know. Don’t tell meh your a criminal too? Ah think that’d be a world record.
No, just a girl who likes rocks. That's it.
There must have been something interesting that happened.
Doubtful.
Ah’m sorry, that;’s just tragic ain’t it?
Depends, dullness is sort of refreshing.
Is that so?
Well, obviously. Not a single interesting thing has happened in weeks.
"I’ll have to agree with you on that one."
And you look awfully pained about doing so.
Summer just seems so dull this year.
Oh, uhh. Nothing, I suppose? I’ll just… Be on my way.
Yeah, well see you around, Bruiser.
First Date - Paintballing (Lorna)
"Dude, what are you doing? It’s just paintballing!" Alex called back on hearing some kind of ruckus from inside the room. He leant back against the wall again, an amused grin pulling at the corners of his mouth, “Just a date, y’know. Nothing special." Aware he was being stared at by another student down the other end of the hall, he shrugged neutrally, turning abck to the door. As Lorna appeared, Alex straightened and grinned again, “We’re driving. Or I’m driving, unless you want to walk?"
Lorna arched an elegant brow skeptically, "Do you want to walk a marathon or do you just have some sort of death wish?" She retorted in her usual cold tone, a slight smirk playing at her lips. She shifted slightly so that she was leaning against the wooden door frame. "You can drive, seeing as you offered and all it only seems fair." She shrugged before straightening upwards, the kinks stretching out of her back. She was still slightly disheveled from her battle with her bedroom, and her back and legs still ached from accidentally whacking themselves against every possession that she owned.
I.. Can’t afford Starbucks…
And what d'you want me to do about that?
First Date - Paintballing (Lorna)
Alex slid his hands into the pockets of the old-ish jeans he had on specially for paintballing. Walking across campus, he noted a couple of other students outside in the sunshine, but didn’t stop on his way to Lorna’s room. Reaching the right door, he knocked twice, “Hey, it’s me! You ready?" Waiting for a response, he leaned back against the opposite wall with a small smile and tapped out a rhythm on his jeans.
Lorna swore silently at the faint knocking sound at the door, she knew exactly who it was. It was pretty obvious though, someone would have to have real guts to come knocking at her door. Of course the voice just confirmed it further, "Um ... can you give me a minute?" She called back as she scrambled around for a pair of shoes, which had all apparently disappeared.
After two more minutes of scrambling around her messy dorm room, she had finally managed to find her shoes and partially destroyed handbag, and a hat to cover the hair which wouldn't want to dye this morning. The green was barely visible under the black fabric of the sunhat, so it was prefect camouflage, and she wasn't all that worried anyway, seeing as you had to wear helmets and stuff when paintballing. A couple of seconds later the door unlocked, and she stepped outside. "So .... how're we getting there?"
Oh.. Hmm.. That’s. I need the opposite of that.
Well, tough luck. Your best bet is the starbucks, but that's just overpriced.
"Oh, err.. I think I’ll be alright. I sort of got… distracted in the lab. Can you direct me to the cafeteria, or some sort of.. Food place?"
I think by eating the food they serve here, all you're going to do is worsen the growling.
When d’you want to go?
Um, I don't know. The weekend, I guess?
