Looong Time No See...
Looong Time No See…
So it has been 6 months since Ive been here.
Six months.
I had a pretty major relapse, that was finally addressed in February, and I was in Rehab learnng how to walk and better use my memory for a month, and Ive been recovering for the last three months. While I’d love to tell you that I have made a full recovery, I cannot.
I am still only mobile with the help of a walker, and I hve not been…

Basic Occupational Therapy Basic Occupational Therapy: Smaller Tasks
Clinical trials give you access to revolutionary healthcare. Our team helps you find, connect to, and enroll in the best ones for your needs.
[Image: White text reading “Clara” on a teal background, with a logo to the left made of the outlines of two rounded triangles intersecting. One of them becomes multicolored between the two points of intersection]
We recently featured an info article on clinical trials by our partner, the trial-finder Antidote—so we feel we’d be quite remiss if we didn’t feature Clara as well!
Clara is another site for finding clinical trials, with more of a focus on treatment and long-term use. Its robust search tools let you look for trials that offer a specific treatment, and you can create a profile to be notified of new trials and run similar searches anytime. They even hope to add the ability to link your medical records and contact researchers through the site!
Who should use Clara? Folks who are always on the lookout for new trials, who want to do an advanced search and see a lot of info on each trial.
Who should use Antidote instead? Folks who want a little more of a hands-off approach, who would rather put in a little info, answer some questions, and get matched directly with a few trials. If you get overwhelmed by a lot of data, this site’s the one for you.

Here’s a neat device that’s relatively inexpensive for its class ($1000 new; the blogger got on for $400 used). If you need mobility and speed but not so much the full-on chair, this might be the device for you!
This is a video review, with automatic captioning. You can view a transcript by following our guide on “reading” YouTube videos.
Just an FYI for those in the US with insurance issues
How is this not a hellscape?
Health care in this country is a goddamned dystopia.
Havent tried it myself, but every little bit is helpful in these ludicrous cases.
Want to write for Spoonie Living?
Hey friends, Editor Diane here!
I mention this often in passing, but now I want to really, officially, get it out there: I super want your help! Spoonie Living is meant to be a collaborative blog, but right now I’m the only one working on it. I would love your company 💜
What sort of contribution would be good? Any kind, really! But here are some ideas:
★★★★ Ongoing contributors* - A partner or partners would be incredible. This is for folks who are really into the blog and want to collaborate to help make it even more than it already is. Writing, research, image captioning, reviews, social media, and more would all be really useful.
★★★ One-time contributors* - Do you have something you want to write about but don’t want to make your own blog for a single article (or two or three)? Long or short, if it fits within the category of advice or resources, I’d love to talk. Send a pitch my way :) ★★ Established bloggers - Don’t be shy! I do my best to trawl the spoonie interwebs, but I can’t find everything good—so drop me a line when you publish something you think would be a good fit, and I’ll be delighted to look it over. ★ Tipsters - Please, do let me know if you find something cool and useful around the web. I already get a few tips here and there, but more is always better.
Interested? Send a Tumblr ask/fanmail, chat me at @spoonieliving-admin, send a message on Facebook or Twitter, or just send an old-fashioned email to [email protected]
*FYI: I don’t make any money from this blog, so I unfortunately can’t pay you for your work. Maybe one day! In the meantime, I can link to your PayPal or similar and encourage readers to tip!
