i am so Unbelievably for making simon shorter than he is i literally Hate tall simon i Hate that he's taller than betty but ESPECIALLY fionna. oh my GOD i hate that he's usually taller than fionna when finn is massive compared to them. it's Sickening. because also wouldn't it be so cute if he was taller than finn at the start of adventure time but eventually he grows up to be taller than ice king after all that character exploration and the "oh god this is just a mentally ill little old man" realization and things #DESTROYTALLSIMON

truly obsessed w “you forgot your floaties” not just the episode but the usage of the phrase. simple straightforward and incredible way to mix w the idea of magic’s effects on the mind being a “pool” and say you are not prepared for what the fuck you have just gotten into. also pairs well with the common phrase “gone off the deep end”. betty grof has fallen into the pool while trying to analyze the water and with her mouth full of it she says “oh this is great, i can see the water so much better from in here”

rly funny that simon and betty are kind of . guy who was literally put on the earth to be a dad at every single little opportunity x woman who would not be a mother if the Fates themselves divined to her that it was her destiny

I think that Simon would have maybe been fine either way but then he ended up having to take care of Marceline and now his Dad Instincts can never be shut off again. I don’t think there are ever any realistic circumstances where Marceline and Betty have any sort of relationship comparable to mother and daughter in even the most stretch-of-the-imagination way, like, on the personal emotional level - even if Betty had literally been there for Simon raising Marceline I think the closest thing to Mom Energy that Betty can pull up is, like, “cool aunt that gives the best presents but is otherwise sort of distant and isn’t actually part of your life except on holidays”, and if they got to meet after Betty came to Ooo they would just be, like, peers - but I also think that some part of Marceline’s brain is going to be permanently stuck projecting some Mom Feelings onto Betty purely on account of Simon being Basically Her Dad and her very first impression of Betty being “guy who’s kind of her dad now talking about woman he was going to marry”.

I think about everything all of the time. I have so many thoughts on random details that don’t affect anything.

honestly it’s so disrespectful when people say betty grof is doomed by the narrative. she beat up the narrative and doomed herself with her own two hands and it’s diminishing female accomplishment to say otherwise

Thinking abt ai betty "dying" in front of Simon and her final action as an ai built on bettys memories, was to leave Simon agonizing over what she was trying to tell him before she glitches out. When asked, she says, "I only said that so you wouldn't stop thinking about me." Like. Betty wanting to possess Simon's mind rearranging it's coding to her ends and disregarding simons protests. Despising ice king because he doesn't remember her. Despising the crown. It wasn't because of some kind of blind following. It wasn't because Simon was simply selfish. She did these things because She was selfish, stubborn, determined to do things her way and no one else's (not even simons!) Something beautiful was taken from her and she will get it back!!!!!! She was not some poor hapless innocent girl! She has committed atrocities and by god I refuse to disregard her affinity for the extreme, the reckless, the self destructive to say it's all simons fault for not getting on a bus or something. I guess what im saying is support women's wrongs <3

i got So sick of "simon is selfish" discussions but especially because i found betty's selfishness so much more interesting to talk about, it feels tacked on for other people to talk about that Supposedly being a Simon Trait among what we knew of him, all while betty's over here with a deliciously corrupted mix of motivations... genuinely feeling like she's saving simon by doing all of this, all while disregarding all the other people in her way to accomplish that, from apparently knowing what magic man plans to do on mars and not giving it a thought if she can accomplish her own goals with his help, to manipulating finn, to disregarding ice king's autonomy all the way until the end... insisting she's doing the right thing for simon no matter what is in her way, even if it's protesting to her, right in front of her face. and it almost feels paradoxical in a way to call it selfish, when it's so founded on love, on devoting herself to someone else but ultimately it still twists around to disregarding other people for the sake of what she wants and thinks is right
