Bill almost develops a nicotine addiction because he gets jealous of Richie and Bev always leaving together to take smoke breaks when they’re hanging out/at school. The only thing that ultimately stops him from really smoking that he’s terrified of getting caught with cigs at school (the thought of not being like by his teachers is scary for the ‘golden boy’) and how mortified he felt when Georgie almost found his pack in his bag.

The tea is Mike is the only loser Bill respects as an equal because Mike is the only one who isn’t lowkey in love with him and won’t do everything he says, and that is a massive turn on for Bill.

my irl friend thought that Richie was going to be in love with Stan instead of Eddie because Richie was in awe after Stanley’s ‘I know I’m a loser, and I always fucking wiil be’ speech. He said Stozier rights!

The way that Kasplon are a god tier ship! Sweater vest wearing husbands! ying and yang! Mike’s calm energy eases Eddie’s mind. Eddie’s fireball energy gets Mike out of his shell! Nothing but endless support and love and admiration in this relationship. The old couple you see walking around as in love as the day the met, that makes you believe love is real! I love them!!

okay got out from watching chapter 2, and

HOW did Mike still have no storyline??? Stanley was actually dead but they did MORE then they did for Mike (having him be a lying conspiracy cliché doesn’t count)

Mike Hanlon and Bill Denbrough together were literally the best boys despite this. (James McAvoy did such a good job making Bill a likeable character!)

The Eddie who was the first one to start looking for Stan when he strayed in the sewers, the one who shrieked ‘I’m gonna kill you!’ when he got vomited on by Pennywise, cowering in the corner? That’s not my Eddie. Eddie overall seemed like a really cold character, with little relationship to the others.

I love Ben Hanscom. He is still my favourite character (from the book and chapter 2). Jay Ryan did a good job showing how Ben cares for all of them. Ben and Bev were really sweet.

scenes were too long and too short at the same. getting the items needed to be way shorter, but so much more needed to happen. (I love these characters, it shouldn’t of dragged like it did)

Bill Hader was doing the most. What a funny, heart-wrenching guy. Richie saving Mike Hanlons life TWICE!!! Literally my RIGHTS!!

I understand why people didn’t pick up on Reddie. I feel like Bill Hader was really pulling the heavy weight on this, and boy he tried, but because Richie and Eddie were such surface level characters with lukewarm character development, I didn’t feel it (this should destroyed me, I ship it a lot, but they didn’t do the work to earn it)

Stanley, my sweet boy. He was barely in it, but I love him a lot

Overall not a bad film, just really repetitive with multiple scenes establishing the exact same thing. I wish we could’ve swapped some of those scenes for more bonding moments with the losers to make me care more about the stakes more (again, I already love these character, I should care).

eddie kaspbrak tunes in to watch richie tozier’s second comedy special and there’s just something about him that eddie can’t put his finger on. he can’t tell if it’s richie’s awful impersonations, or the way his whole face lights up when the audiences laughs that reminds him of home… whatever, he probably doesn’t even write his own material.

As much as I love queer and here, loud and proud Bi!Richie, theres so much internalised homophobia in Richie’s character in the book (he wouldn’t even comfort Bill without checking to make sure nobody could see them) that I wish we explored this part of him as well, because I feel like Richie literally only cares what people think of him and chooses to play the fool so he knows people are laughing with him.

(and I think he uses jokes/voices to get control of a situation- mostly when he doesn’t know what to do or when the conversation heading in a dark direction)

Having said that, I know these characters are what we interpret them as, and there is literally no right or wrong interpretation, its just a side of his character I want to explore with stories that show his friends helping him to accept that part of himself and accept his attraction to Eddie

Bill Hader completely derailing interviews by saying that he straight up doesn’t want to be there, or going on a long tangent about how him and James McAvoy had an intense sex scene where he was just plowing him- will continue to amuse me for the rest of my days.

Was Richie’s sexuality something you discussed with Andy Muschietti before filming started?

Andy and I talked about how overt we should make it, and I said if it’s not overt, then why is he in the movie? You can’t do a half measure on it. You’ve got to go the full way or don’t even allude to it. Let’s not be coy. Let’s just say what it is.

Did knowing this detail about him affect how you played the character?

It just gave me more to play. We did a lot of different versions of Eddie’s death scene. We did one where he’s clearly dead, and I’m refusing to recognize it. And some where I was very tender with him, where I’m caressing his face — this is the person I love, and it wasn’t just lust. It’s truly love.

[In other scenes] I was playing off James, but knowing on some level that I loved him. It’s something [Richie] can’t connect to, so he has to hate that thing. It’s very adolescent. “I have a crush on you, but I don’t want to tell you that, so I’m going to push you away. But man, if he made the first move, that’d be the best thing ever.
