Hello Flight Rising! Taylor the latte-coatl here, ready to show off my new coffee shop situated right in the Reedcleft Ascent! I’m opening it with a great event, The Flight Rising Coffee Crawl, and for it I am featuring 2 drinks for each Flight (and telling you how to make them, but keep it quiet— trade secrets, y’know?)
For each flight (listed below) I have compiled 2 drinks. 1 coffee beverage and also a non-coffee cafe beverage for those of you who might not like coffee. I hope you find it interest and informative! Please note that these are my personal opinions and that not all may agree with my selections.
For those of you who may not be caught up with coffeeshop lingo, here are a few key terms:
Latte: a shot (or 2) of espresso with steamed milk
Cappuccino: 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, 1/3 foam (on top) Mocha: latte w/ chocolate Chai latte: can either be made using a tea concentrate or a powder. I prefer powder, personally, since the texture is more silky and foamy. Mixed into steamed milk. Steamer: steamed milk

I have to say I’ve tried just about everything on that list and it’s all delicious~ My favorites are all right under the perfect flight too, ICE~
If you want to go really crazy with the affogato: my favorite way of making it is with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a scoop of coffee. Maybe even a scoop of espresso gelato if you can find it! Pour on a shot or two of espresso and enjoy~ You could go for a chocolate sauce if you want but I think it’s too much.
Am I the only one losing my mind over this exchange?? Vader is mostly portrayed by Imperial propoganda as a kind of extension of the Emperor’s will, a benevolent force of justice (a watchful protector, a dark knight) but I mean he’s technically a founding father of the Empire. After all, no one but the audience knows he can barely string together a sentence when it comes to political ideology.
But Tagge just called him an asset. The same as an inanimate object (though, to be fair, one that could kill a planet). Its degrading, almost dehumanizing.
AND THEN HE DOES THIS:
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? I get the vibe here that Tagge is one of those people who thinks Vader is an extremely advanced droid of some kind, even though he saw Vader choke out Motti on the Death Star
but like— this is the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces!!! Is everyone in the Empire just kind of fed-up with Vader being this random paramilitary wildcard who doesn’t have a real, specific title and rank but can kill any one of them with no repercussions??
HOW ARE YOU TALKING TO HIM LIKE THIS???
but then:
Its like Tagge is talking to the world’s most dangerous and murderous child assassin??? What???? BUT THEN
I’M LOSING MY MIND! I’M LOSING MY MIND! I’M FREAKING OUT!!!!!
is anyone getting a serious Winter Soldier vibe here?? Just how much agency does Tagge (or any Imperial) think Vader has? I think this comic is confirming that people know Palpatine is the architect and Vader is the enforcer, but Tagge is talking to him more like a talking dog than a general and strategist
The worst part (ie, the part that makes me entire soul hurt) is that Vader may or may not feel the same way about himself??? Like obviously Tagge is gonna fucking get it in some later issue, but Vader responds to the situation by saying “Tagge commands me, its is as the Emperor wills” like he’s used to the idea that he has a master who can lend him out whenever he want like a fucking spare hammer

What I love most about this is that it’s completely in-line with what we saw on-screen in ANH, with Vader capitulating to Tarkin’s authority. At this point, I don’t think Vader has much will to do much of anything by himself. He was always motivated by his love for others, so lacking loved ones has left him as aimless as a battle droid.
Indeed, it’s only after seeing Obi-Wan again, and meeting Luke (not yet knowing his importance, except that Obi-Wan took an interest in him), that we see him regain any kind of subversive spirit. And I’m sure we’ll see him regain more and more of it as the pieces of the puzzle start to fit together.
I’m loving this series so much.
