Reverie looks a little different nowadays, so I thought I'd make a new reference. Especially since the previous reference is about three years old at this point.

The wings were added by request. 😉

I've been wanting to draw Reverie without her flower hat for a while. Her hair usually just falls straight down when she's hatless, but I wanted to show how it typically works while she has it on, so I kept the style. Also, those aren't braids. Her hair just kind of stays bunched like that. Because magic.

I've had a very difficult and emotionally taxing couple of weeks. Several painful things happened in rapid succession, and I've come out of the time feeling confused, angry, and a bit scared. But I was able to forget it all whenever I was working on this.

I'll never be able to fully explain to all of you, but this little pixie means so, so much to me.

Some visual development for this faerie. This drawing is special to me.

When I was a child, I wanted to meet a fairy more than anything. Back then I had a recurring daydream that somewhere out there was a little fairy that, for some reason, cared about me. When I was asleep or not paying attention she’d fly down to my window and peek inside to make sure I was doing okay.

A few days ago I got the desire to draw a fairy, so I looked up a few references poses and started. Partway through it occurred to me that what I was drawing looked very much like my childhood daydream, so I thought I’d try to bring it to life. Nowadays I get the feeling that faeries wouldn’t really like me all that much, but there’s a part of me that still holds out hope that one day I’ll glance out my window and make a new friend.
