"Grand Etang/Hull's Reel" - Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas
As fine an example of Scottish string playing as I can imagine. Natalie Haas is an inspiration!
Erik Friedlander, Shoko Nagai & Satoshi Takeishi perform music from #NothingOnEarth #soundtrack #cello #accordion #piano #drums #percussion #cymbal (at The Stone)
ugh.
"Seriously, what did the cellist ever do to Pachelbel? If you’re being charitable you could say Pachelbel is just providing a solid anchor for one of the most famous pieces of classical music ever. But if you’re a cellist, then Pachelbel’s picture is on your dartboard.”

Rushad Eggleston playing his Cello Suite. With his usual side of surrealist guff. And we wouldn't have him any other way, would we?
Richard Skelton - "Noon Hill Wood"
Occasionally you discover an artist that staggers you... That makes most other music seem to fall away into irrelevance and mediocrity. For me, Richard Skelton is one. Take the time to listen to this mournful masterpiece and spend a few minutes in quiet consort with it.
A track from the awesome Mogwai soundtrack to the awesome French drama "Les Revenants" (The Returned). Really inspired work throughout the series; worth a watch AND a listen!
Some dreamy bass-music with cello emerging from the texture... Lovely.
Cellogram - James Tenney
Fascinating score, fascinating idea, beautifully realised
Agreed on all fronts.
Ok, technically not cello music, but none the less, not a million miles away. And what a performance!

Vitamin String Quartet Perform Sigur Ros
Well this is just lovely.
A cello player in the partially destroyed National Library, Sarajevo, during the war in 1992
Such great Timbres. Totally like heitor villa lobos.
But the composition structure leaves something to be desired. Would be so great if classical people could get into making interesting electronic sounds and could apply their harmony/melodic intuitions.
Found more Archie Pelago goodness via post below...
I know what you mean there, Berglar, but in this instance, I think the structure serves the context for which it's intended - the dancefloor. A certain repetitive, cyclical structure helps it's effectiveness. Forgive me if I've misunderstood your point!
Also, check out my tumblr, you may find some things you like! Do you know Hildur Gudnadottir? She's one of my favorites, and uses electronic methods very effectively, if not quite so centrally as Archie Pelago...
Layer this up by playing the same track in a few tabs simultaneously, staggering when you hit play, and you’ll have what the inside of my head usually sounds like at midnight.
More absolute awesomeness from Hildur.
