@beyondtheletters
To wrap up our campaign, we feel that these photos are very powerful ones. These are sorority women facing and recognizing the negative stereotypes they are called because they chose Greek life in their lives. No matter what organization you choose to affiliate in your life, it is important to remember that all women deserve respect.
Please help fellow Seminole Ronny Ahmed on his journey to recovery. Ronny was tragically shot three times on November 20th in front of Strozier Library on FSU's campus. He has been critically injured and remains in the ICU at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Ronny was the first student shot...
We are, first and foremost, Florida State Students. Beyond The Letters campaign encourages everyone to donate to our fellow student, Ronnie, to help aid his journey to recovery #beyondtheletters #FSUnited
No matter what organization you are a part of, #WeAreFSU. The shooting on our campus effected the Florida State family and the outpouring love and support from our entire community was powerful and inspiring. Times like this shows how we go #beyondtheletters
A response to the Rolling Stone article on sexual assault at UVA released this month.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — One day after a student fatally fell from a bridge after a run with his fraternity brothers, Clemson University suspended activities for all of its fraternities, citing reports of alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct but st...
Prayers go out to the young man who passed away at Clemson University. This brings up a very important point for our campaign. As much as we condone and support Greek Life, we will NEVER condone or stand for hazing within any organization.
"Best Halloween costumes ever!"
Halloween was a few weeks ago and this photo went viral as the "best halloween costume ever!" Whether you're in Greek life or not, turning lettters to spell out derogatory comments is not funny, it's offensive. By taking the high road and not playing in to these negative stereotypes, you go #beyondtheletters
Are you hating on Greek Life?
An enlightening article written by an FSU student. What do you guys think? #beyondtheletters

Social Media and YOU
There is no denying that social media has influenced negative stereotyping of sororities, especially within large networks that cater to mass amounts of college students. For example, Total Frat Move and Total Sorority Move are two brother and sister websites that serve as a form of entertainment and social media outlet primarily for Greek and non-Greek college students across the country. How, do you ask, do they do this? By exploiting collegiate women (and men) and by making a mockery of their own stereotype. Photo streams of photos of half-naked sorority girls, alcohol abuse, and hazing/pledge work are just a few of the things that pop up on these websites daily.
But, who is sending in these awful photos to be published on huge hubs like TFM and TSM? The answer is simple, it's the college students of America.
While some sorority women portrayed on this website may show reasons why Greek life has a negative stigma attached to it, as students, it is up to us as a whole to not feed into it. Sorority or not, in general, how you market yourself on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is everything. Members of Greek life only hurt themselves when they post such terrible photos on the internet and those who view them are only buying into these negative stereotypes.

Hollywood and Stereotyping...
You can "bend and snap" all you want, Elle, but how does that show you are #beyondtheletters?
What if all you've ever known about a sorority was from the movie Legally Blonde or The House Bunny? Unfortunately, for many people it is. Within the past few decades, it has been popular to see Hollywood films produce their own versions of sorority and fraternity life, and sadly its been in a not-so great light. Stereotyping a sorority girl down to a ditzy, materialistic woman who holds chapter meetings regarding toilet paper brands and pursues a law degree only to win over a boy not only portrays a false image, but it is offensive. (Sorry, Reece. I love you, but really?)
Can you think of a TV show or film that only portrays sorority women as well-rounded students, leaders, or philanthropists? Me either.
Educate yourself to help educate others. Be weary of the false messages Hollywood can have.
