first and foremost thanks jacknjellify for not making pin in the wrong for literally everything. also thank you for acknowledging pin's loneliness. but now with this how would tpot 2 make sens.e. ??? i guess pin is still fucked up but. i dunno im thinking too fast it was not what i expected. in depth analysis under cut

every time i try to critique it i gotta acknowledge that pin is EXTREMELY reluctant to admit her real feelings. it was clear that pin was continuously pushing away leafy, but at the very end she gave in to leafy's love a little before being called by coiny. THANK YOU JACKNJELLIFY FOR INCLUDING LEAFY'S LITTLE EYE ROLL AT THE END from that whole day with leafy because thats how we learn that even though it was very, VERY difficult, pin learned that... she can still be loved after all. if someone like leafy still likes her then maybe she really does mean something. maybe she really can be a friend. thats what she wanted since the very beginning of the season, right? to be a friend? leafy showed her that its not actually impossible for someone to love her, and i guess that's where the coinpin scene leads in. although i wish they made that more clear and a lot less subtle. coiny revealed his feelings but pin never got to reveal more than that she wanted a friend, never mentioning WHY she thought it was impossible for her to make one. shes not just competitive, she values friends over the competition, and they WERE GETTING THAT ASPECT OF HER CHARACTER RIGHT UNTIL THE VERY FUCKING END OF THE CONVERSATION AAUAAGAGAGAGAASBDBFGRRRRR i think ive found my ONLY gripe with this whole thing. jnj was doing pretty good UNTIL the end of their conversation when they rubbed in your face that shes competitive. i guess thats like THE glue to coinpin... BUT it doesnt make tpot 2 make sense, nor tie in with what made pin's leadership to dpya so incredibly special.

i guess we can have both, but, pin's love for her people over the competition should, no, MUST really shine over her occasional competitiveness because that is SO much more important to her character. if it WAS the other way around, if her competitiveness WAS more important apparently, then first of all most of the coinpin conversation with her just wanting friends wouldn't make sense, but more importantly and as i said, tpot 2 wouldnt make sense and dpya wouldn't make sense. thats why i think the conversation was great until the end. they could have really toned down pin's competitive side in order to make her character a lot more cohesive.

hello pin nation everywhere. i need to make an announcement of sorts. as of 5 o clock morning time in my area, i give up.

its just... its like the jnj writers *have* to flanderize and stomp on her story just because you cant really put a complex character right by the side of someone like COINY. because if you dont flanderize her for the sake of coinpin then... tpot 2 happens. so it sucks. the "apology" the writers made her give sucks and only acknowledges like 5% of what she went through just so its easy for coiny to forgive her or something. i swear i was TRYING SO HARD to be nice because im not a pessimist but the more i think about it the angrier and angrier i get. they built everything up for her, her complexity, her trauma, her anger, only for them to throw it all out the window just because they cant shove it into the tiny coinpin box so instead of just... not shoving her back into the coinpin hole they just throw out all the rest they can't fit into it. its disheartening, its upsetting, its a TERRIBLE writing choice and i CANT BELIEVE they would do that for her all because they preferred having coinpin over having a complex character just be complex.

not to say that coinpin as a duo is 100% dogshit trash though. they can be silly, i liked tpot 7. but they as a duo are genuinely never allowed to be deeper than that by the writing or else we get tpot 2. nonetheless i am so upset.

and yeah, thats where i give up. they only managed to fit a teensy bit of her true worth as a character into the conversation but im done with trying to convince myself it was worth it. it wasnt good. the writers treat her like shit all for the sake of coinpin. im so upset pin deserves so much better

this is why i will not only not be creating a new pin imagining, but ill have to go on like the episode doesnt exist except for leafy. pin's interactions with leafy were all great and perfectly in character for her and i will remain geeked about that but... yeah. that is truly all.

So, this is something I've been noticing people do when it comes to Pin's actions in BFDIA, and I can't help but complain about it.

Pin is angry at everyone, sick of everything they do and say; and rightfully so, because they really did treat her horribly and I'm tired of seeing denial about that. Even Coiny said mean things to her in the past. They treated her like nothing, like she didn't matter; and the thing is that now she's treating everyone exactly how they treated her (and how everyone treats everyone for that matter). She's killed others for no reason, she's been mean and distasteful and wrong many times. Well, most of the times.

Now, here's my point: why hate Pin for doing things that all the other contestants do and are seen as normal (or not a giant offense)? This question goes for the other contestants but especially the viewers, since I haven't seen anyone mention this. When Tennis Ball said Pin had an ugly soul, no one batted an eye. When Coiny called her useless to her face, it was fine, right? And, they all brutally murder each other (for the competition and sometimes just because. Needle's killed a bunch of contestants because of calling her a name she doesn't like) all the time, but no one really cares because they can always be recovered. So why's everyone scared of Pin? What is it that REALLY makes her "so horrible"?

Obviously her actions aren't great and she's acting on impulse. What I do understand is where all the pent-up anger in her is coming from. It's not the best reaction, doing the same bad things as everyone else, but based on everything I said in this text, I honestly don't blame Pin. What we should focus on is her development, her getting better; we must give her a chance to improve (not just because she will, chronologically, because that's boring) because she's smart, she knows right from wrong. She's just. Mad. And mentally ill.

(All of this unless the "mech parts are affecting her brain" theory is true, but I don't like it, so I'll ignore it.)

i promise i know what i am talking about, it explains a lot of what has happened to her and why over the series. i explained much of it a thousand times better here (and here kind of), but essentially,

pin was very different from every other contestant in bfdia from the very start of the season. she didnt act different, she didnt look different, she didnt purposefully do anything with the intention of standing out or anything, she just... was. like it was out of her control that there was something up with her. from everyone in the cast cornering and pressuring her immediately in the very first episode, to stuff like, being natually absolutely horrible at trying to make friends as seen by her attempts with bubble and book on 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝔀𝓲𝓷𝓰, her opinion about the situation always being shut down by others (i.e. nobody listening to her when she's call out how unfair it was that she was punished with her limbs being removed, her being killed in bfdia 9 just for saying that she felt bad for the rockets they were destroying, etc etc etc), to just being universally hated by everyone in bfdia for just... being her???

to the point where it went from ignoring and silent resentment towards her to genuine torture. the torture didnt happen out of nowhere, in fact its a lot more important to consider why is happened to her than the fact that it happened to understand her trauma and her story. pin was just herself, she spoke out against what was wrong since she valued the world and its people far more than the challenge and the game (which made her stand out, just for being her. autism allegory) and to punish her for speaking out (like after bfdia 10 when everyone who she thought was her friend in woah bunch left her for something that wouldnt benefit them as people (only as contestants)), they completely disabled her. trapped her inside of her own body which is TERRIFYING. its like how autistic people in the real world get bullied all the time for things that are, unfair, obviously, things about themself that arent wrong but different.

but in the world of bfdia, what is different IS "wrong."

and that is what's so "wrong" with her.
