I don't know why...but I cried watching episode 9 with 2 scenes. Not saying it wasn't emotional, but nothing made me ugly cry like these
Man... I was on the floor. It was so cute 🥹...
It made sense, mostly not. But it could mean that the AIs of the circus were gaining more and more autonomy, understanding feelings, going beyond their programming. It's sweet, nonetheless.
Next scene I had to PAUSE to cry for about 5 minutes because oh my god...
KINGER IS ALIVE, MARRIED AND HAS TWO DAUGHTERS 😭😭😭
My theories about the finale was that some of them were too far gone to go back to their bodies and after seeing the date that Kinger enter the circus, I assumed the worst.
Seeing him living his best life filled me with joy!
I found it funny because clearly the Big Crying Scene was supposed to be Jax by the lamppost. But honestly, those pesky flashbangs made me so irrationally mad 🤣that I had to pause again and hit that pose
"Oh my god...we lost him."
But seeing Jax finally get the consequences of his actions was bittersweet. I gotta say, knowing he's doing better in the real world - probably finally coming to terms with his/her identity- also feels me with joy 😊
Another scene that I really like was the last IRL scene with all of them waiting for the bus. It was weirdly pleasant and happy and hopeful, that they might one day at least know each other.
Finally, some people said they didn't like that Jax's abstraction was offscreen and I get it, it was rushed and it caught me off guard...
But I think that was the point...?
(Not it being rushed, I think if the episode was longer like a couple more minutes this could've been better but I digress)
First of all, we've already seen what abstraction feels like to the person that is abstracting in episode 7
Second, we already KNEW Jax have been on the verge of abstracting back in episode 6
Third, it makes sense to have Jax abstracting offscreen because just like the characters, we have stopped trying to keep Jax close. Pomni herself have stopped trying in hopes that he would look for her when he was ready.
Just like them we're unprepared, we knew it was a possibility, but nobody could prevent it from happening.
I know what Ragatha is feeling, I know what Pomni is feeling, Zooble and Gangle... "how did we let this happen? how we didn't see it happen?"
I think it's perfect to convey the feeling (considering the time limitations).
The finale wasn't perfect, but I'm pretty satisfied. The ending was concise and left few questions that can be answered with speculation and theories but that doesn't undermine the whole thing.
I think if it was going for any other more sci-fi route it would have left so MANY questions, that the dissatisfaction rate would have been HIGHER.
With this, we get a bittersweet feeling. Things are going to get better, they might work something out ( looking for fanfics right now 🤭) but at least we have the hope that...they're ok, that being IRL or in the circus.
