Scrapbooking 101
Well, I'm back in the US, and I've been caught up in scrapbooking madness since I've been home! I took over 600 photos during my vacation in Barcelona, so this is quite the project! Anyway, I haven't seriously scrapbooked since I was in high school, but it has been great to get back into my crafting groove!
Here's a blog post I wrote in high school with a few tips for those of you who also like scrapbooking! This was originally posted to MySpace... when I used to make a scrapbook for each year of high school.
Bianca's 10 Tips To Creating a Successful Yearly Scrapbook. (results may vary)
1. Throughout the year keep everything! (Photos, concert tickets, movie tickets, newspaper articles...etc) This does not make you a pack rat! Keep it all organized in a shoebox under your bed and all will be well.
2. Keep important dates marked on a calendar of some kind. This helps in the end in case you want to make a scrapbook with events in sequential order.
3. Don't be afraid to include all Kodak moments in your scrapbook, even the hysterically funny embarrassing pictures...you will be glad you did.
4. Three "must haves" when scrapbooking...tape, a glue stick, and markers! The glue stick WILL run out, that is when tape comes in handy! And colored markers just help to make your scrapbook more colorful and lively.
5. Don't be afraid to fill your scrapbook with pictures of yourself! You are NOT conceited or self centered for doing this! This is NOT a year book, it is a scrapbook...more importantly, it's YOUR scrapbook and you can do whatever you want with it.
6. Use captions! Come up with some quirky captions for your pictures! In a couple years from now you may not remember where a picture was taken or what exactly was happening in it. Also, other readers enjoy reading goofy captions.
7. Do not be afraid to get a little messy in the process of making your scrapbook! Spread out a little bit and give yourself some room, especially if you have a lot of supplies. If the room is a disaster area in the end(which in most cases it is) then don't worry about it, most of the time it's a quick clean up.
8. SAVE YOUR SCRAPS! Come on people...it's common sense, don't waste paper. Scraps of paper come in handy for decorating your pages...trust me.
9. Scrapbooking is very tedious work...if you enjoy doing this then time goes fast so watch your time. Take some breaks if needed. Make sure you change position from time to time, or you may end up with a stiff back.
10. Last but definitely not least...show your scrapbook off! Let the world see your masterpiece! You spent a lot of time on this! With saving all of your keepsakes, buying supplies, and the time spent putting it all together and cleaning up the mess, you deserve some envy....so enjoy it.
Ok....you have my advice...what are you doing still sitting there starring at the screen???? Go get started!

Everyone has a 'risk muscle.' You keep it in shape by trying new things. If you don't, it atrophies. Make a point of using it at least once a day.
