A quick solangelo drabble requested by someone anonymous. I’m working on a couple more, but keep the requests coming! I really appreciate everything. I hope you enjoy this.
“Hey, do you wanna study together?”
It was a simple enough question, but Nico immediately froze. He took special care to not speak to anyone in his Government class so that he wouldn’t be in this exact situation.
He usually stared at his notes all day and left class when the bell rang. During lunch he sat by himself underneath the shade of his favorite oak tree. He walked to school alone while it was still dark outside.
And yet Will Solace still approached him after class.
They were at lunch, and Nico glanced up from a particularly interesting book about Greek Mythology. Will Solace was part of the school choir, Society of Future Doctors, and one of the class officers. His golden-blonde hair reflected the sun, and Nico winced at the intrusion into his shady spot. He closed the book briefly, careful to mark his page. “What do you want to study?”
Will beamed. “You’re in my Government class-”
“-and I always see you taking really good notes, so I was wondering if you wanted to make a study group? I don’t really know what’s going on in that class sometimes.” Will continued, oblivious to Nico’s interruption. Nico considered the proposition for a moment.
“That’s not really a study group then, is it?”
Will shifted nervously, but the smile didn’t leave his face. “Okay, so maybe I need some tutoring.”
Nico huffed quietly. This boy did not know how to take a hint. “When do you want to study?”
“When do you not have a club?”
Nico raised an eyebrow. “That’s not whenever.”
Will didn’t give up. “I’ll pick you up in the morning and we can go to the library. I’ll buy breakfast, maybe lunch if it goes that long?”
Nico considered this for a minute, before a thought came to him: his escape rope.
“That sounds more like a date than a tutoring session.”
The air was tense for a few minutes before Will spoke quietly. “Maybe it does, yeah.”
Nico considered the boy in front of him. His lanky arms were crossed defensively in front of chips chest, his amber-brown eyes downcast Nico smiled gently.
Will’s smile lit up the afternoon sky.
