Insertion- Deltoid Tuberosity. 🦾 Actions- Shoulder abduction &assists in shoulder flexion. ❗ HOW TO DO DUMBBELL LATERAL RAISES PROPERLY? ✅Dumbbell Lateral Raises in Frontal Plane- Doing exercise in Frontal Plane is not a natural movement according to body's functional capability & it can lead to shoulder impingement injuries. ✅Dumbbell Lateral Raises in Scapular Plane- Doing exercise in Scapular Plane i.e. about 20 to 30 degrees in front of your torso, so your arms are at a slight angle when you're raising the weight is the best way to train your middle detoids. ❗ Additional tips➡️ ✅Always raise the Dumbbell laterally within a range of 30° to 90° or less not more then that by keeping the Dumbbells rotated externally to maintain the gap within the Subacromial space (the space above the glenohumeral joint or ball-socket joint & below the acromion the topmost bone of the shoulder). ✅ Avoid rotating the Dumbbells internally to avoid impingement injuries. ✅ Raising the Dumbbell beyond 90° can cause shoulder impingement leading to supraspinatus tendinitis. ✅ Always do proper mobility exercises before shoulder training because in order to facilitate humeral abduction the scapulae & clavicle also participate s. Beyond 30 degrees abduction, 1 degree scapular rotation for 2 degrees of humerus elevation. ✅ Always start the exercise from 30° of abduction in order to avoid repeated use of the suoraspinatus muscle because below 0°to 30° is the ROM of the supraspinatus muscle and due to gravity the deltoid muscle loses contraction at the starting point of the exercise. ❗BIOMECHANICS OF DUMBBELL LATERAL RAISES❗ ✅There is a biomechanical difference between working with weights (on the right) and working with a band or cable.
