Ann (1923 - 2004) was famous in Hollywood for her astonishing tap dancing speed. Studio publicists loved to claim she could perform more than 500 taps per minute, which helped build her legend as one of MGM most dazzling dancers.
She also danced in extremely high heels something most performers avoided. Ann believed the heels made her legs look more elegant on screen, even during complex routines.
That mix of athletic precision and glamorous sophistication became her trademark in classic musicals alongside stars like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.
