Bierback Roadtrip, CA, NV and AZ, September 17th to October 2014
This is my father. His name is Bo, but some call him “Bosse Bierback”. In 1973, 23 years old, he went to Woodland (just outside Sacramento), California to work at a farm. If I had a dollar for each time he introduced himself with that sentence to random people we met during our road trip, I probably would have been able to afford that flight from Los Angeles back home that I honestly, dead serious planned on taking after having spent 9 days on the road.
From San Francisco, to Sacramento, through Yosemite National Park, via Death Valley, to Las Vegas, visiting Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon National Park, Sedona, pit-stop in Phoenix, all the way along the Mexican border to San Diego, to Los Angeles, through Sequoia National Forest, back to Sacramento, out to Napa Valley, Fort Bragg and finally taking Highway 1 down to San Francisco again. Between September 17th and October 2nd 2014 it was just the two of us, me and dad.
It all started with me being in need of a vacation and my dad going on and on about how he wanted to go see his relatives in Canada. I told him to wait for me so that I could join him. He didn’t, but went by himself. However, another trip across the Atlantic a few weeks later was no problem for this retired old man so off we went. I’m still not sure who came with who.
