seen a lot of pro "netflix five has serial killer dna" posts and they always make me kind of sad?

like half the tradgedy of comics five was that he was incapable of being a better person largely because of his dna. he's rewritten biologically, psychologically, to be a psychopath - incapable of empathy.

once you apply that to netflix five it basically confirms everthing that his siblings say/believe about him:

that he's mean for his own pleasure (not because he's scared to lose them),

that he enjoys murdering people and does it for fun (instead of it being his very last resort - which was largely the reason for his breakdown in s2, he desperately didn't want to kill anymore, but he was forced too anyway by outside forces),

that he's selfish and self-centred (despite his entire motivation being his family's survival - even at his own expense, he was willing to sell himself back to the handler in exchange for their lives).

it completely overlooks his character, his ability to make decisions - hard, complex decisions with no good answer - his ability to change and grow.

that's what bothers me most about this dna issue. if netflix five has the dna, then he cannot overcome it, he cannot learn to trust his siblings, or learn to open up. it contradicts the entire s1 "giving up delores" scene because that was entirely about him putting his baggage down (literally!) and allowing himself to heal.
