Police of Dhaka (Bangladesh) has recovered the body of another gang-rape suspect along with a note from Angaria under Rajapur Sadar union in Jalakathi. The murder was almost identical to the previous two incidents. This body recovered on Friday also had a printed note tied around the neck which read: “I am Pirojpur Bhandaria’s [victim’s name] rapist, Rakib. This is the punishment for rape. Rapists beware. Hercules.”

Netflix does not yet have a Best Picture Oscar, but Steven Spielberg is still apparently none too happy about the prospect of it winning one soon. The iconic filmmaker has long made his thoughts about Netflix known, saying last March that he flat-out doesn’t think Netflix movies should be eligible for Oscars. He compared Netflix originals to TV movies, saying, “I don’t believe films that are just given token qualifications in a couple of theaters for less than a week should qualify for the Academy Award nomination.”

Now, in the wake of three Oscar wins for Netflix’s Roma, including Best Director, Spielberg is prepared to propose a rule change that would rule Netflix films ineligible at an upcoming Academy Board of Governors meeting (he represents the Directors branch on the board). The news comes courtesy of Indiewire, though it’s unclear specifically what rules Spielberg would propose to be changed, and whether Netflix increasing the length of a theatrical window ahead of a streaming release would ease his concerns.

A spokesman for Amblin had this to say:

“Steven feels strongly about the difference between the streaming and theatrical situation. He’ll be happy if the others will join [his campaign] when that comes up [at the Academy Board of Governors meeting]. He will see what happens.”

This puts Spielberg in direct conflict with his friend and fellow filmmaker Martin Scorsese, whose new film The Irishman will debut on Netflix later this year. The streaming service has already committed to a theatrical release for the film, but Scorsese reportedly wants them to give the film a wide release. That poses a challenge. Roma was released in theaters three weeks before it hit the streaming service—a first—but only in limited release, and it followed a smaller platform rollout in the ensuing months.

In order to convince major theatrical chains like AMC or Regal to carry The Irishman, either Netflix would have to bend to their rules and release the film in theaters a full 90 days before it hits Netflix, or theater chains would have to break their long-held standards that hold fast to the 90-day window. That window of exclusivity is there to ensure that exhibiting films is worth a theater’s while—if a movie’s on Netflix at the same time it’s in theaters, chances are most people aren’t going to pay extra to go see it in a movie theater.

Which is not in Europe, but, following the forced Roman expulsion of the Jewish people from their homeland in the Second Century CE, the Jewish people were scattered across the Eurasian, and even African continents. As in such situations, yes, there was indeed intermarrying with the people of the lands the Jewish people settled among in the diaspora. But just as someone who is black, or Asian as per your question, doesn’t make their descendants white by having children with a white partner, the same is true of people who are ethnically Jewish.

Ashkenazi Jews, Jews from Europe, are white passing because of their time among Europeans and intermarrying with Europeans, but that doesn’t make ethnic Jews white. It makes them white passing. The only white Jews are those that are converts to Judaism that have joined the Jewish people. And since Judaism is not a proselytizing religion and culture, that is a minority of the worldwide Jewish population.

Well for one, “race” is a made up term used by those who want to create racial determinants to divide humanity. There’s only one human race. That’s it. What you mean is indeed ethnicity, not “race.” And as he is indeed an ethnically Jewish man, his ethnicity is not white, it’s Jewish. Which, if you could kindly direct your eyes back to the above map, will see originate from the Mediterranean coastal region of the middle-eastern subregion of Asia. As for genetics, the reason he and other Ashkenazim are white passing, is cause they’ve spent the centuries of the diaspora in Europe and have had children with native Europeans. But, again, just as a child of a non-monoethnic pairing doesn’t see their enthicity disappear, the same is true of Ashkenazi Jews. Especially since an Orthodox community like yet Spielberg is from holds much closer to marrying and having children within their own cultural borders. Meaning that while undoubtedly some interethnic couples had children over the centuries, it wasn’t a diluting of that cultural connection and heritage like you have with people who had one Native American ancestor generations ago and try to get benefits of having less than 10% of that ethnicity’s genetics.

No, what I meant and said was race. Case in point, my emphasis of him being a white Jew. I know the clear distinction between race, ethnicity, and nationality. I’ve posted extensively about it for years on my page.

Yes, race is a social construct (a classification system created by white men, one being Carl Linnaeus) and not a biological one, but it indeed exists for the way it’s been used to function in society for centuries to form caste systems, uphold traits (some stereotypical, like Black people being once deemed primitive), birthed racism, etc. Saying race doesn’t exist is like saying racism doesn’t exist and that’s a damn lie.

Steven Spielberg was born white, lives white, and he’s gonna die white.
