Don't ask me why, but here's long-haired Angeal for you!
I want everyone to love Angeal “Flower Man” Hewley so I wrote a little snippet about him (kind of). I hope you enjoy.
It had been passed down through those who knew of him that the hair of the ancient god of Botany could cure all illness, as well as bring good fortune to whomever touched it.
This day, a young mortal boy paced the temple grounds hoping for a miracle. Having a father in local government and a mother busy caring for his infant sibling, the child wished for a friend, but wishing only gets one so far. Feeling too unsure of himself to pray, he decided to take matters into his own hands. If he could find a strand of the deity’s hair, perhaps his wish would come true.
The land was infinite in every direction, so the boy created a game to play. He would pretend he was the elusive Flower God and try to imagine where he might frequent most. Beginning on the east side of the temple, he scoured the endless patches of white flowers. In every story, the god’s hair was black, so he hoped it would stand out against the pale petals he so carefully walked through.
The boy searched on his hands and knees in the garden until the distant sound of wooden doors opening scared him to his feet. Having travelled so far into the infinite garden, there was no quick escape for the once hopeful child. Inhuman footsteps approached closer and closer until the shadow of an enormous figure shone from around the corner of the grand temple. The boy froze as the owner of the shadow was revealed. The God of Judgement, owner of this temple, and the very one whose hair the boy was searching for, was standing before him.
I spoke to Ellen Dubin (voice of Gillian Hewley in Reunion) recently, and I asked her if she was given any context before recording for the game.
Me: Any context?
Her: No, not really.
Me: Sad old woman?
Her: (smiling): Yes! Pretty much exactly that.
The topics of conversation for my panel “Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 and why it’s actually good”.
This panel will focus mainly on Angeal and Genesis, and how the poor execution of the plot and story of Crisis Core does not do them nearly enough justice.
The talking points aren’t in order, and each one will go into more detail than just that point.
Game synopsis
Why aren’t the main characters on the cover?
Banora isn’t real (conspiracy)
The tragedy of Project G/defending Gillian (this point will also include Shinra having hope for Angeal and that Angeal & Genesis are not brothers)
Defending Genesis
Guilt & honor/defining honor
Godhood vs monstrosity (achieving perfection)
Relating Angeal & Genesis to self
Comparing Angeal & Genesis’ attitudes toward knowing they’re an experiment
Genesis didn’t kill his parents (Shinra propaganda)
How important Angeal & Genesis were/are to Sephiroth
LOVELESS and prophecy/how Genesis holds onto hope
To those asking where this will be, plans could be changing and it could be at a different convention altogether. I hope I can have someone record it though.
The supreme court of my brain sentenced that Sephiroth deserves smoochies.
Happy Valentine day 💕

Hello I am alive.
I’m writing a convention panel titled “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, and why it’s actually good”.
A buddy of mine has a convention and I’m hoping he’ll let me use it since I’ll be a hosted guest.
Also Ellen Dubin (Gillian Hewley) is going to be there.

True love begins with threatening to stab your future boyfriend to death ❤️
Angeal: "I will save you from yourself and love you unconditionally."
Sephiroth: "FUCK YOU."
