HEADCANON : NIGHTMARES.
despite the... everything about will being sunshine and puppies and emotional availability, a very little known fact about him is that he suffers from nightmares, and has for years. they’re not nearly as bad as they used to be, and have long since eased up from the straight up night terrors they once were, but they still happen fairly regularly. mostly of his time in afghanistan (primarily the friendly fire incident) and the events surrounding his big brother’s death.
they’re the worse around the anniversaries of things, and he talks about them with his therapist, does his best to shake them off, but if occasionally he’s just a bit more protective over the team in the aftermath of one... well it’s not like he’s sharing a bed with anyone, so no one has to know.
