@bigeyedchangelingchild
You wake up one day and discover you've lost control over a random action or feeling!
Spin the wheel to find out what!
How bad is it?
Actually way better than before!
Its good
It's alright
It's annoying but I'll be fine
It's pretty bad
IM DEAD
worse than death
Nothing changes/results
This idea was submitted by @dbnekonico!

This is just perimenopause
oh goodie...... the little confettis really make it.
bringing back my too woke opinion that you should be allowed to change labels without the previous one being incorrect
i think you should be allowed to identify as trans without retroactively saying you were also trans in the past. i think the "born this way" rhetoric is limiting and you should be able say stuff like "i was fully a girl when i was a kid and now im a boy" without it invalidating your current identity but maybe that's just me
Hello, tumblr! I saw something on here the other day that worried me, so I decided to Do Science about it. But I can't do it alone: I need your help to build the dataset!
Here's what I need you to do:
If you see a post with a "mature content" label, and it's 2026, DM me a link to the post.
Yes, that's really it.
I am hoping to collect several thousand such posts, so that I have a decent sized dataset. I do not care what the post is about; if it's labeled as "mature content", I want to add it to my dataset.
If I get 10,000 posts in my dataset before August 31st 2026, I will post my preliminary findings then. I won't feel comfortable calling my findings "settled" before 2027, unless I get over 50,000 posts.
actually now that I think about it a shirt that says "unalive censorship" would go hard
We only do XYZ for wheelchairs. Okay, so do you have a suggestion for me and what I should do with my four wheels? Like I said I can’t do stairs, because I can’t and it should be obvious given the rollator but no I’m not unable to walk at all so therefore I must be able to do steps.
you don't understand the only way to keep children safe is to isolate them from everyone except the people who are statistically most likely to abuse them
I feel like there's a difference between having a visible disability, as in people can see you're disabled because of what tools you need, and having a visible disability in that absent movement or aids you still can see your disability. Like I use a rollator full time, that's visible, but if I were lying naked on a bed you wouldn't see my disabilities. You'd see my benign bone deformities, but not the ones that actually cause problems.
Whereas a little person or an amputee is visibly disabled even when lying on a bed.
I feel like those are different? Like that's a different kind of visible disability.
For other disabled people. Or airline people. Is there a reason to wait at the top of the jetbridge while getting someone in the aisle chair instead of letting me come close enough I can start folding my walker before they’re fully on the plane?
This is just some personal thoughts on migraine and migraine triggers and my own disorder. Fundamentally do whatever is working and least stressfull for you.
So, there's a lot of pushback against migraine triggers, and most of it is justified, but I fele like it's going too far the other way. Like it's both true that migraine is a disorder that you have regardless of your lifestyle. But that doesn't mean that triggers don't exist. And when it comes to managing them, it's not one size fits all, it's your milleage may vary.
But I also am weary with people completely dismissing the idea of triggers, and especially food triggers outright. If avoiding a food doesn't increase your stress too much and is helping then do that. I get really frustrated hearing people be like "Well, it's better to lower your threshold than over obsess with foods" and maybe it's because I already have allergies, so adding in the handful of food triggers I've identified isn't really effecting my routine. At the same time, for one of them, the evidence of it being a trigger for me is incredibly strong.
So, when I was in uni I had episodic migraine, with an average of one attack a month. Suddenly I got non-stop attacks for three weeks. At the end of that I finally identified that an ingredient had changed in Ribena, Sucralose was added to lower the added sugar to comply with the sugar tax. I didn't know about this before, and when I stopped drinking Ribena my migraines returned to normal (at the time.) Avoiding sucralose was incredibly effective, and reasonably easy thing to do. Although I did do that again when one of my vitamins had sucralose. But fundamentally I have extremely strong evidence that sucralose hugely increases my risk of migraine. That's not to say my migraine disorder is caused by sucralose, it's caused by my neurology.
But like, there's a difference between asking someone to over-obsess and saying "You know, if you find that you're consistently getting migraine attacks after eating a specific food, maybe try cutting out that food and seeing if it helps."
The evidence I've seen seems to say that food triggers are rare, but rare doesn't mean impossible. And I really think it's more that triggers are overemphasized and control is presumed to be total, instead of recognizing that triggers are sometimes unavoidable, and that entirely eliminating all triggers will not eliminate the disease, but if there's changes you can make that do improve function for you then keep it up.
Someone should write Heated Rivalry Dads edition.
Specifically my uncle was talking about having a rivalry as a coach to his son’s hockey rivalry coach. So like two coach dads that are doing the whole rivalry sexy time.

A Betazoid character who isn't in a nurturing profession, but is a tactical officer.

Also, a Klingon character who is in a nuturing profession instead of tactical.
"You are a true child of Kahless for confronting your fears and I am honoured to have helped you."
Klingon therapist: the battle against mental illness cannot be won decisively. It is a long campaign against an enemy who never tires, whose forces swell to twice their size whenever you look away. Battle against a foe of such magnitude, who occupies your very mind… every moment you survive is a triumph against all odds. There is no more honorable combat.

Do you recognize this TV theme song? #555
I know this and can name the series
I know this but can't name the series
I might know this
I've never heard this
Younger writers. Please, just know that you could not skip to different songs on a cassette tape, that’s CDs. With tapes you pressed fast forward or rewind and prayed.
Also, VHS tapes did not have menu screens. Your only options were play, fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, or eject.
Y’all are making me feel like the crypt keeper here, I’m begging you 😭

You also cannot turn on subtitles on a VHS tape. It either has captions or doesn't. Usually doesn't.
Select next track on a record involved surgical precision, and the risk of destroying the very recording if you placed the needle just wrong. Of course, naturally, the spinning platter of recorded medium was extremely sensitive to being scratched, given all of the data was encoded with scratch marks and dents.
Correction; Closed Captions were encoded on VHS using the space in the alignment section. TechnologyConnections' video about it explains how it works, but essentially, if you had a TV that was able to decode the captions on a VHS, you could turn them on and see them.
Language subtitles were not part of this system; it was specifically an accessibility tool. It was also extremely uncommon for non-Deaf people to use captioning until very recently, so most people who aren't Deaf or grew up as a CODA probably wouldn't know about it.
People still doing "do you think voting can fix this" memes when the answer to the question "when did voting last end an authoritarian regime" is "two days ago"
Reblogged this earlier, but doing so again to add:
Hey we all remember 2020, right? When we voted out Donald Trump the first time??? That was a thing that happened a mere six years ago, and yes, America subsequently massively fucked it up and voted him back in, but we did remove him by voting once before.
Anyone also remember 2024, when Jair Bolsonaro was removed by voting in Brazil? And when he tried a coup, Brazil actually fucking punished him, disqualified him from running, and sent him to jail, instead of letting him off scot-free to do it again?
Also a spate of worldwide post-Trump elections, where the far-right wasn't in power per se but was gunning to be, and voting ensured they stayed out (2025 Moldova, 2025 Romania where massive protests annulled Russian meddling and forced a re-run where the pro-EU candidate won, 2025 Canada where the Conservatives lost after previously being up 20 points, 2025 Australia where the far right was just fuckin wiped out, 2025 Netherlands where Geert Wilders lost, AND SO FORTH).
And of course, the result referenced in the original post, 2026 Hungary where Viktor Fucking Orbán was removed by voting? Despite the massive structural hurdles facing the Hungarian voting public, far more than is the case in America even now?
(Lololol the Kremlin and Trump have immediately pivoted to "Orbán who? Never heard of him. Never knew him. Shh.")
Anti-voting has always been a deeply stupid ideology by people who want miraculous revolution to be suddenly achieved with no downsides and no widespread catastrophe, by doing nothing more than posting violent rhetoric online. Because they have no interest in actually doing the kind of hands-on, slow, systematic work that leads to positive social change in real life, and because they have no understanding of how anything actually works.
Relentless, hypocritical, purity-test politics are literally the best friend of authoritarians everywhere, because they ensure that liberal/left coalitions will never get their fucking act together long enough to put their weight behind the non-authoritarian candidate.
We've all said this before, but sometimes it bears restating.
Nobody has ever suggested that social change can be achieved solely by voting in decent or lesser-evil candidates. Voting is one tiny part of that effort. "Oh so you just want us to vote and do nothing else??" No. No, nobody has ever said that. You can and you should do a lot more than that: protest, mutual aid, fundraising, organizing, pressure campaigns, community protection groups, literally whatever. You can and should continue to hound the politicians you voted for if they're not living up to their campaign promises, as long as you actually voted for them in the first place.
The end.
