1. Leda, Queen of Sparta, holds a bloody swan by its broken neck. Her toga is tattered and covered with blood spray, evidence of a desperate fight. Her hair and eyes are wild.

2. a bright star bursts in blue and black.

3. Leda wakes in the middle of the night in shades of blue, sitting bolt upright in bed.

4. Leda gazes over her sleeping children, Castor, Pollux, Helen, and Clytemnestra, evidence that, for better or worse, the killing of the Zeus-swan was only a dream. Outside the window, a full moon shines down on the mediterranean sea.

5. Leda lies back down in bed, spreading an arm protectively over her children. Three thin scars, as if from a clawed foot, are visible on her shoulder. Her brow is still slightly creased. A shaft of moonlight falls over the five figures.
